From the hill country of Kandy she migrated to Colombo to achieve her dreams. She is Neroli Daniel, a well-known face, owing to her appearances in Dialog, Lux and BOC adverts.
Due to her enchanting beauty, she is a popular pick for advertising major brands in Sri Lanka. Apart from being a face for brands, she is also into designing and has her very own design label in the market.
Neroli is an old girl of Good Shepherd Convent Kandy and Royal Institute Colombo. During her schooling days, she was one of those “good girls” as she excelled in her studies whilst partaking in various extracurricular activities.
She proved to be a superb dancer as well and has the titles All Island No 1 in solo dancing and Best Solo Performance in freestyle, to her name. She explored all disciplines of dancing – Bharata Natyam, Kandyan dance, ballet and social dancing. That’s Neroli’s artistic chapter.
She was also in the school netball team and was involved in athletics, interact and choir. Neroli was a senior prefect in her school as well. After schooling, she took up fashion designing and ended up becoming a finalist for the Fashion Designer of the Year.
Here is Nero – up close and personal with life.lk
Your modelling career was carefully selected and you work with only a niche elite crowd. Why is that? Isn’t it better to work with many and earn more?
Money is not one’s life but my reputation is vital, therefore I have to be selective to achieve my goal.
Sri Lankan parents can be too traditional. How do you find this aspect with relation to your modelling career?
I don’t dispute Sri Lankan traditions but I’m very selective where my career is concerned and I adore my parent’s advice.
You’ve got a big family of three brothers and one sister - how was it living with such a big family?
It’s a blessing and being the youngest in the family I was petted and I am petted even now.
Would you prefer living in Kandy, which is your hometown, than here?
To have been born in Kandy is a privilege. But it’s good to be in Colombo to achieve my goals.
Why did you decide to become a designer as opposed to a doctor or banker?
To become a designer in the world of fashion was my daydream and I really adored it from my childhood as this talent is a special gift to me from God.
What’s the most memorable day of your life?
It’s not one but so many.
Describe love in 3 words.
Loyal, Happiness, Commitment.
Do you read books?
NOOOO
There are millions of new labels out there. What makes your designs stand out from the rest?
I care less about the millions and millions of labels since my way of thinking is unique, and I create designs that are feminine, raw and elegant.
