Sunidhi Chauhan was a bundle of action at her live concert on Saturday, 22nd November 2014 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).
The compere said that even in Sunidhi’s home country of India the audience did not know the words of all her songs but in Sri Lanka it was different. Gradually, the crowd left their seats and moved closer to the stage and Sunidhi. She spoke to them in English and used some Hindi words which the spectators seemed to understand. It was two and a half hours of non-stop entertainment as Sunidhi and Rakesh wowed the crowd with their energetic singing and dancing.
Sunidhi first wore black pants and a jewel-encrusted jacket and later changed to another black outfit with see through leggings. She whistled for the ladies and asked the ladies first to stand up and sing with her. Easily she established rapport with the audience and there was a party atmosphere as everyone raised their arms and clapped and sang along.
There are those who criticise Bollywood but there is no doubt that Hindi songs and films are popular in Sri Lanka as they have a mass appeal. Those who listen to Hindi songs on radio and television flocked to concerts where their favourite stars perform and there is good entertainment when you can forget your day to day cares!
