The man behind the self titled ethical fashion label, the fashionable Kasun creates pieces made of handwoven cotton that are the epitome of comfort and are effortlessly chic. A vegetarian, he's particular about not using materials made out of animal products. While Kasun enjoys a simple life, he loves travelling, exploring cultures, history and learning about spirituality. Kasun shared closet must-haves, style tips and more.
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is a form of self-expression. I dress with an androgynous edge, oversized and minimal details.
What - in your opinion - are must haves in a man's closet?
Well that's tough because I don't really shop. I live by a simple lifestyle. I think one should only carry what makes them feel good in the closet.
What are your essential style tips?
Groom your hair and beard often. And wear sleek clothes that are simple. It's a tropical island after all.
What's your take on following fashion trends?
I don't really follow trends. I think it hinders creativity. I like street style mostly because that's a personal choice. So I take in things I see myself in.
How important is grooming for men?
Grooming is very important. It shows commitment. If one takes good care of himself, that shows their self love, hence their style is more individual.
What's your personal grooming ritual?
I go to the salon twice a month to groom my hair and beard. And then I take good care of my skin by eating healthy / vegetarian. Pedicures and manicures are very important as well. Hygiene is a must.
One thing you hate that men do or don't do with regard to fashion or grooming?
I think there should be balance in everything. If you have a great hairdo, then wear simple clothes to compensate. If your hairstyle is simple, wear sharp clothes. It's a disaster when sometimes they try to make everything look extravagant and it ends up looking tacky.
