With a name like Sparkles, you expect to be dazzled by beautiful trinkets and eye catching accessories, and guess what? you won't be disappointed. Sparkles has a little something for everyone.
Opened in late 2012 by Malki Tissera with the help of her husband, Prabath Fernando , both software engineers by profession, the online store was set up to not only make these high quality jewellries availble to young fashionistas, but also to enable Malki to contiue her love of online shopping.

why did you chose to start the store online?
I’m an online shopaholic before I became an owner of an online store. I always had a dream of starting my own business other than my profession. Jewelries and fancy stuff are something I really love to browse over the internet and I never get fed up with it. So my passion about jewelries finally made me an owner of an online shop.
Describe some of the different collections you have?
We have collections of vintage inspired jewelries, glamorous stones and pearl bead embedded jewelries like rings, chains, earrings, pendants, bracelets and hair accessories.
Most are made in alloy metal, bronze, silver plated, or Gold plated zinc alloy metal. When I select jewelries my eye catches very simple, girly and uncommon stuff. Recently we introduced hemp rope bracelets with charms. That was a hit with the younger girls.
Recently we introduce something new to our store which does not fall in to the jewelry category. it's called the Bumpits Hair volumizer kit. it's something that's very hard to find locally. Our prices range from Rs.250 to Rs.1300 for all items.
How do you select each piece and where are they sourced from?
Most of the items are imported from Asian countries like china, Thailand, Hongkong. When I travel abroad i handpick most of the items from fashion jewelry shops from those countries.

How does the sale and delivery procedure work?
Our procedure is we ask customers to send an FB message or email with product codes. Then we reply with product details and Payment details. The customer has to deposit money to the provided bank account. After that we deliver items to the address specified via Registered post or sometimes we use courier services depending on the order type. For some urgent orders we deliver stuff via 4 hour express mail service as well.

How have sales been since starting the store, and what has the customer feedback been like?
Most of people are used to shopping at local shops and select stuff by seeing it but when it comes to virtual shopping, this is totally based on the trust we earn from customers.
We gradually earn this by providing an honest description about the items, delivering quality stuff on time as seen in pictures and being flexible for customer requirement.
The most important thing is to provide them quality products which are worth the money they spent. Most of the customer has become our friends now. And I’m really happy about it.
What can we expect from the store in the future?
Currently we deliver items within Sri Lanka only so I hope to expand it to globally as I’m getting orders from other countries as well. And I would like to introduce more accessories other than jewelries to my store.
My Husband is the person who helped me to make my dreams come true and with his help I’m hoping to launch a website for sparkles. I also hope to expand the sparkles team. Here the connections I’ve made with people are genuine, inspiring, and encouraging. I want to do everything I can do to make ‘online shopping’ a pleasant experience to all my customers.
