views 12029Supermodel Sri Lanka completed its first hurdle crowning “Mr Best Skin” and “Miss Best Skin” at the “Skin Show” by Luv Esence held at the Crescat Lobby on Tuesday. The show also marked the launch of Luv Esence at Crescat.
Life Online caught up with the Top 30 to find out their thoughts on why they applied for CFW SuperModel 2013, their comments on the journey thus far and their expectations for the finale on Saturday. Here’s a closer look at the Top 15 girls and Top 15 boys of SuperModel 2013!

AGE: 18
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I wanted to try something different. It has always been a dream of mine to be on the runway.”
JOURNEY THUS FAR? Tiring but rewarding.
NAME: Melissa Gray
AGE: 21
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I’ve always wanted to be a supermodel… to be on top of the world.”
JOURNEY THUS FAR? “Tiring but rewarding. Competition is very tense because there are a lot of beautiful young girls competing…”
NAME: Rukshani Ranathunga
AGE: 19
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “Supermodel SL is an opening to the international arena of the fashion industry and I’ve always wanted to be a supermodel!”
JOURNEY THUS FAR? Tight schedules but we are backed by a dedicated team. It has been amazing!

JOURNEY THUS FAR? “It’s a great opportunity to be selected to the top 15 from 300 applicants. Training has been of a very good standard and the people are very friendly.”

WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I’ve been a model for a year now but I’ve never entered a pageant. So I thought why not?”
JOURNEY THUS FAR: “It has been amazing. It is intense: in terms of competition and preparation”

NAME: Marietta De Fontaine
AGE: 25
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I wanted to experience something new… It’s made perfect because an international panel is involved in the competition. It’s the perfect opportunity for a girl to boost her confidence!”
JOURNEY THUS FAR: “Interesting and fun! Met a lot of new people. We’re on a tight schedule and it’s hectic with the outfits and props etc. But it has been a wonderful experience and I’ve loved every bit of it!”
EXPECTATIONS FOR SATURDAY? “Looking forward to a fantastic event!”
NAME: Sevani Dilshani
AGE: 21
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I’ve always wanted to be a supermodel”
JOURNEY THUS FAR? “It has been amazing. We had a good time, met a lot of new people. We got good training and it certainly feels good to be in the Top 15!”
EXPECTATIONS FOR SATURDAY? “I’m happy I’ve come this far.”
NAME: Shalika Erangani
AGE: 23
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I play for the national Netball team and I wanted to explore this field as well.”
JOURNEY THUS FAR? “Because I’m new to the field, training has been life changing. I am happy.”
EXPECTATIONS FOR SATURDAY? “I aim to win and I am willing to do what it takes to be committed to doing my best.”
NAME: Sithmi Gamalath
AGE: 19
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I was hoping for a pinch of excitement in life… I liked modelling but never thought of pursuing it professionally. We realised we had the potential when we were selected to the Top 15.”
JOURNEY THUS FAR? “I enjoyed the experience as a whole. New people; getting to know the field and seeing it for what it is…”
EXPECTATIONS FOR SATURDAY: “Surprise the audience. Hoping for the best!”
NAME: Shumaila Musafer
AGE: 19
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I’ve always loved the beauty, the confidence and the grace of models. I’ve always wanted to be like that”
JOURNEY THUS FAR? “We’ve worked really hard. But it has also been so much fun!”
EXPECTATIONS FOR SATURDAY: “I want to do my best. And let’s see what happens!”
NAME: Sonali Rodrigo
AGE: 32
WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “I used to fly for an Airline and couldn’t make the commitment to apply for a pageant. Now that I am in the country permanently, I thought why not?”
JOURNEY THUS FAR: “Tiring, but it has been worth it, mainly because of the training. It’s been amazing to be with all these amazing people.”
EXPECTATIONS FOR SATURDAY? “Proud to be the third tallest contestant in the Top 15 and I hope to get into the Top 5… Excited that we’ll also get first preference at the Colombo Fashion Week!”

WHY SUPERMODEL SL? “The fashion and modelling industry is an exciting and an ever changing one. Being trained by professionals is an opportunity of a lifetime!”
JOURNEY THUS FAR? It’s worth it. Tight schedule and we only keep getting better as the weeks proceed.”
EXPECTATIONS FOR SATURDAY? “I just hope everything we’ve worked on up to now will be at its best!”
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE WON “MISS SKIN”? “I am really happy. I didn’t expect to win at all…”
NAME: Vimukthi Lakmal

Why CFW Super Model? Because of its affiliation to CFW
How has the experience been? Really great, I met lots of new people
What are your expectations for the final? To end up in the top 5
Name: Chanuka Praduedha
AGE: 22
Why CFW Super Model? To get a good head start since this is my first time modelling
How has the experience been? It has been good. I've learnt so much.
What are your expectations for the final? Nothing, it’s a big competition and if I don’t make it I have no intention of giving up on my dreams.
NAME: Calum Kularatne

Why CFW Super Model? Past experience in the modelling industry made me want to take part in a competition of international standards
How has the experience been? It has been good exposure, accompanied with a learning curve.
