Mesmerised and intrigued by the costumes of Indian Royalty has inspired designer Ramona Oshini to bring out “Six Yards by Ramona Oshini” her maiden saree collection. Normally associated with designing western clothes, Ramona decision to embark on a saree collection augers well for saree enthusiasts.

Ramona Oshini says that  images of the Maharani Ourmilla of Jubbal and beautiful Gayatri Devi caught her eye as their style resonated with the Ramona Oshini’s style ethos which is “simple is elegance”

Using 100% pure silk satin, pure silk chiffons, silk brocade, velvet, sequinned fabris and tulle the borders of the sarees are embellished with elaborate borders however they do have heavily embroidered chiffon sarees with simple borders.

Creating a range of sarees is something Ramona had wanted to do for a long while but felt the time was not right. She believes that all ladies look their best in saree and believes that the saree is Sri Lanka’s answer the Little Black Dress!

Ramona says “although this is Ramona Oshini’s first saree collection I have been creating sarees for my personal clients for a long while. “However in this new collection each piece will be exclusive and the customer will have a one of a kind piece”

“ All the borders, trims and laces are hand picked by me and sourced from India along with most of the fabrics.  I make sure we produce sarees with the best fabrics, adding that luxury feel to the collection.

The sarees will come in an array of colours, so that we can cater to everyone’s taste. The sarees are available to view at my studio in Pelawatte or on our facebook page” says Ramona.

Aimed at a clientele who favour cocktail parties, lavish events, wedding and glamorous soirees the Ramona Oshini saree collection exudes an air of elegant glamour with a hint of simple sophistication.
