Sara Sihina at Ave Maria Convent Negombo
On the 26th of January, with a record breaking crowd of over 9000, a night of extravagance and unlimited fun was underway as Ave Maria Convent Negombo hosted “Sara Sihina” the flagship concert by Bathiya & Santhush together with their crew Ashanthi, Umaria and Randir.
The artistes were powered by the sounds of Party House and DJ SPIRIE. The concert was decorated with performances by dancing queen of Sri Lanka – Prashadi Ranasinghe and her team Centigradz, Lahiru Perera and Dushyanth Weeraman, and was held at Ave Maria Convent’s very own grounds with their pupils and past pupils rallying around the stage to enjoy a night of electrifying performances.
I spoke to a few past pupils of the school who came to the concert and here are their mixed reactions.

"Fantastic and glamorous! The best concert I’ve been to so far; and as a past pupil of AMC I’m really proud of my school for creating this fabulous event, and this is the best one in Negombo and I’m sure in the country so far. I really glad that I’m a part of it! And I always loved BnS and they've been my singer idols since childhood; they again proved they are the best of all as always.
We knew that combination of AMC and BnS would definitely be quite a dashing one and oh yeah it was. The huge stage, LED screen, with best voices - gosh I’m still experiencing that rhythm! Umaria has an exceptional voice. However, I would have preferred BnS than the other artistes who performed there, coz many found that initial part of the concert performed by the other artistes was a quite boring. It would have been great if it was BnS only!
And finally, AMC and BnS, thank you for the huge colourful event that blew Negombo away on Saturday, 9000 people is not just something, definitely this is the best ever concert that mesmerized us all the way! Long live AMC and BnS!”

“A Rocking, Awesome, Dazzling Night to Remember…
Though the beginning was very boring because of Centigradz…. Lahiru gave a rocking start where everyone started to move their bodies to the beat. Arrival of Bathiya and Santhush gave everyone life. I enjoyed almost all the songs of BnS, specially the last set of songs. I was just panting without breath. One of the major negative points of the concert was that everyone was prohibited to take their own water bottles in and in the stalls they did not have enough water bottles or drinks for the people. Anyhow, I’d like to thank the teachers’ guild of Ave Maria Convent for organising such an awesome concert and our former Principal Rev. Sr. Francine Muthugala for giving permission to do such an unforgettable show.
BnS always set fire on stage…..!!!!”

“I went to the 2nd BnS show at Ava Maria Convent this year with high expectations and with the intention of having a lot of fun and to enjoy myself but I was totally disappointed with the show. BnS performed well along with Lahiru and Dushyanth. However the start was an anticlimax with Centrigradz’ performance, it was very boring and didn’t match the hype of the show. It was a poor start to the show and the people got let down from there on.
All the decorations, lights, stage and others were done really well and were of high quality and I was certainly impressed! The school has worked very hard and not let any of us down and their efforts left a smile on our faces.
However it must be said, as many people would agree, last time’s show was miles ahead of the one this year.”

"It was fantastic show, we enjoyed it a lot. I loved the show as every minute was exciting. Great stage performances and the performances of the upcoming artistes we like made the show super happening. BnS have taken a completely different and fabulous step in musical shows."
