Ruffles maybe one of the most popular accents on clothing lately as it brings out the glamorous and sophisticated look to a garment. Designers such as Marni and Chloe bring out the feminine feel in the garment through ruffles, whilst designers such as Peter Pilotto and Balenciaga give a sculptural looks to their designs by adopting ruffles.
Ruffles curled over shoulders and wound around bodies, brings new dimensions to strong silhouettes. By adding a ruffled edge to an otherwise undecorated plain outfit could create an attractive look which cannot be compared with just accessorizing a garment with jewellery. If wanting to add some depth, some texture and extra movement to highly studied, yet light, de-structured garments, the ruffle is the solution.
