Newly revealed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl Kate Upton appeared on The Today Show in the US on February 14 to discuss her rapid rise to fame.
The 19-year-old was unveiled as the cover model for the US publication's annual Swimsuit Issue following an appearance on David Letterman's Late Show February 13 alongside other possible contenders and the 2011 cover girl Irina Shayk.

Featuring models wearing swimwear in exotic locations, the cover job is one of the most sought after in the industry, with big names such as Christie Brinkley and Elle Macpherson having previously landed the coveted role.
"Being on the cover was my dream," Upton told The Today Show, adding that one of her idols is former Swimsuit Issue cover girl Heidi Klum.
The model also spoke of the importance of personality in the modeling arena -- something she displayed in a 2011 video where she offered instructions on how to do hip-hop dance "the Dougie."
