When I first met ‘Jo’ several years ago one thing was very clear, this girl can dress! While talking to her I kept thinking, I’m going to hit her on her head, steal her shoes and run.
But after listening to her, I realised what I wanted more was her confidence, perseverance and determination.
And as expected today at 27 she has established her own company, JHA Solutions (Pvt) specializing in PR and coordinating solutions.
So besides being one of those living, breathing examples of when life throws you lemons make lemonade (In your heels!), She’s also a fashionista and an unforgettable friend.
What according to you is fashion?
I would say having or creating a unique outfit. If you can take something and accessorize it, that’s fashion.
Are you influenced by runway fashion?
Somewhat, yes. I love Michael Kors there’s a certain sense of craft to him. I also like commercial stuff like Zara basic.
Shoe girl or bag girl?
SHOE! I currently own 67 pairs of shoes.
What item of clothing would you be caught dead in?
Hmmm... Velvet! I despise velvet!
Craziest outfit you have ever worn?
For my friends hen night, it was a high neck dress with black and white stripes, the bottom of it was ballooned.
Makeup? Perfume?
Makeup - I use all nude colours. But recently I started using red lipstick and I found it fascinating and fancy. So it’s only for occasions. Perfume wise, I love Elizabeth Arden and Hugo Boss. I have every perfume each of them have produced.
How essential is jewellery?
It does play an important and it depends on the occasion too. If you wear big earrings try not to wear a chain. Personally I love the bronzy gold look and pearls. Pearls are class and chic.
Any particular item you cannot do without?
My lip gloss. I love it.
What’s the one thing every girl should have in their wardrobe?
LBD - Little black dress. It’s important. First date orfirst cocktail always requires an LBD. It’s a must.
Do a person’s clothes really reflect who they are?
To an extent yes!... and no. See clothing only plays a part of it, second will be how you carry yourself and your behaviour ...if you know what I mean.
What is the most common mistake people tend to make when it comes to style?
Um... well... wrong attire for the wrong occasion.
Any advice in general?
Always dress to impress yourself first. When you get dressed in the morning you should be able to say, I look good (and I’ve got it) and I love myself. This is essential for your self esteem. When you feel good, you look good.
