Youth in politics : Are they serving justice to the country?

Politics, a hot topic that always keep a conversation out of boredom is adorned by many sub-topics. The most entertaining being the gossip part, it is out of doubt that with the upcoming elections the voters will see many new faces. Of course the future generations have to take up the seats of the seniors but are they really mature enough to be responsible for a country? Have the seniors set a trend to be elected without proper qualifications? Following are the opinions of a few youngsters who spoke to Daily Mirror Life:

Yasiru

“Today’s young politicians are not mature enough to be in those positions. They don’t have an idea about what they are doing. People always want a change but what they do is they follow the footsteps of their parents, aunts and uncles and completely distort the meaning of politics.”

Prabash

“It is a famous secret that these senior politicians do not have even their O/L or A/L qualifications. But if this rule applies to their juniors also, then politics will become a joke in the country and to the international arena as well.”

Ashendra

“Without any knowledge about politics, nobody can do proper politics and this is why we see a lot of corruption today. At least they should have O/L qualifications if they want to contest for an election.”

Nilanka

“With the present concept I think it will also be a change. We don’t see much of a change and it’s high time for good governance to move a step forward.”

Sashini

“If they have some experience then it’s not a problem. Without a proper background if they do politics, then even the voters would have doubts about whom to vote for and finally many people will refrain from voting. This will be an added disadvantage for the candidates.”

Sadev

“It will make a huge impact in the future but it should always be the wise who should be chosen for these positions. They should have the necessary qualifications to contest or else everybody will line up to contest for elections and it will become a huge issue.”
