WHAT
The Old Joes’ Choir takes spotlight this June with “Open Mic”, a portrayal of life stories of patrons of a bar, through song. The repertoire will take the audience down avenues of those from many walks of life through a musical depiction of emotions and experiences that serve to mould the patrons over time into those with a different outlook towards life.
The songs will develop in parallel to the characters from the mellow tunes of youthful vigour to mature tones, making “Open Mic Night” a novel experience as the choir aims to bridge music and theatre on a single platform through song.
WHY
“Amore”, the choir’s concert in 2010 based on the theme of love was produced in similar fashion where the repertoire of the evening simply depicted a story.
Inspired by this, “Open Mic” is a concept that has not been attempted on a local stage up to date and id geared to make a breakthrough in the island’s musical scene.

“Open Mic” will take stage on the 21st and 22nd of June at 7.30 p.m. onwards at the Lionel Wendt. Tickets are priced at Rs. 1500, 100, 750 and 500 (Balcony) and are available at the Wendt.
