What's your view on fashion and glamour modelling in Sri Lanka?

Well I think there is a big improvement in the industry now and it is getting better compared to few years ago. There are lots of fashion shows and workshops happening around the island. This is a great thing for the industry as I remember the scene was more Colombo based several years ago.

The change has given a platform to find new talent in the country and also to build up on their talent. However, we could still improve a lot. So I think the seniors and veterans in the industry could help in improving the industry as a whole and projecting a good image of the industry to the international market.

What's your secret for good skin?

Honestly I have always been lucky to have good skin. Whenever I wash my face, I always use fresh cloths or cotton pads or rounds. Also I have a habit of eating greens; that cleanses my skin from the inside. One should drink lots of water, eat fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. Actually it’s not only good for your skin, it benefits your hair and nails as well. One should know how to take care of one’s body.

You are married. How does it feel to have such an understanding husband especially in relation to your career?

Well I am so lucky and blessed to have such an understanding and lovely husband in my life. He is the one who helps me in all I do. He sometimes gives me pointers on what is good and what is bad.

It’s amazing when you have someone to support you and I think a woman cannot reach the top without the support of a good partner. Sometimes we sit together and come up with new and uncommon concepts. I’m so blessed to have such a great, understanding and lovable husband.

What are your future plans?

I don’t have huge plans. And I usually don’t want to boast about them, I’d rather work on my dreams. My future plan is to reach the top in ramp modelling and of course to learn more about the art of modeling as I go along. I would love to take a shot at TV presenting as well.

Other than modeling what do you do?

I love doing designing and I am currently working on something of my own. I can’t talk too much about it as its still in the sketch stage.

Plans to go international?

I do have plans to take up international assignments. But I do believe that I first need to be well experienced locally. If I am doing something I need to do it right, rather than just leaving it to luck.

What are your "dos" and "don’ts" in the field?

I don’t believe in relying completely on make up as I strongly believe that natural beauty can’t be substituted at all.  Makeup might bring out the hidden beauty in us but I don’t totally rely on it. I do constant research in the industry to keep up to date with new trends. And I feel it’s a good practice to anyone who wants to come into this field.

Also I believe that you need to choose what you do carefully. Also do the right thing. This way you won’t get a bad name and you don’t have to worry about what you have done in your life. But the most important thing is to be happy at all times.

  3. Natalie says:

I would like to thank Jayantha for the awesome coverage. He is just awesome. Knows what he is doing. It was a pleasure working and been around you.

  4. Randy says:

so she maybe having fatty arms and belly - no argument of that. we need to respect her willingness and braveness to come into modeling. she do have good look and color anyway. maybe she will get some advice and do something about her body soon

  5. Gurunanse says:

#Seriously: Your comment is derogatory. Lets us see a picture of what you look like, before you criticize this young lady? In time she would get the hang of things, at least she is trying, that is much more than what you do, sitting. warming a chair and being critical of others. Get a life.

  6. nicky karunarathna says:

You are beautiful and sweet. Keep it up without listening to others. One not be critical of the another's beauty as beauty is eye of the beholder. For me you are!

  7. maneesha Peiris says:

It's not the fact that she's fat and claims to be a model that bothers me.. Why did she wear a cropped top that focuses on her flaws??

  8. Sheldon Cooper says:

I don't understand these days modeling ! ! ! she looks nice but I don't think modeling is her thing .. just saying :)
