What’s the story behind Mulberry?

Mulberry is a community based virtual ethnic wear boutique on Facebook, aimed at a discerning segment of customers who value stylish ethnic wear and accessories that reflect their individuality and style.

We have experienced first-hand the frustration of finding the perfect saree at the right value, and now Mulberry offers its fans (now over 2,300 and counting) a wide selection of competitively priced, personally selected sarees and ethnic jewellery online, without the hassle of trudging the streets.

Why focus on ethnic wear?

Mulberry chose to focus on ethnic wear, especially the saree, as it is a traditional mode of dress which continues to evolve while it retains its elegance, flatters any figure and easily reflects personal style.

It is THE garment that can make a woman shine at any event. Also, stylish ethnic wear is not freely available in Sri Lanka, which is a gap Mulberry seeks to fill.

What are the different collections you have?

Mulberry is a new entrant with two main launches under its belt – the original Mulberry Launch Collection which focused on sarees, and the Mulberry Festive Collection which featured a new collection of sarees and the introduction of Mulberry Fashion Jewellery.

The sarees in the Mulberry Collections range from Kerala cottons, Ikat Cottons and Silks, Jute Silks, Kanchipuram Silks, Crepe and Art Silk sarees, Linen Silks and much more.

How do you select each piece?

Every piece at the Mulberry Boutique is personally selected and every effort is made to provide customers with an eclectic and colourful collection of sarees and jewellery. The collections thus far have featured pieces from all regions of India.

How does the sale and delivery procedure work?

Mulberry has sales on a regular basis. We are currently working on the next one which will be scheduled in time for the season. Sarees and jewellery can also be viewed on the Facebook site and in person with a prior appointment at a time convenient to the customer. Delivery is available for a nominal fee within Colombo city limits.

How have sales been since starting the store, and what has the customer feedback been like?

Sales have been very encouraging since the launch in late 2012. Customers have provided very positive feedback on the originality of our collections in terms of style, colours and textures of Mulberry sarees as well as its unique line of fashion jewellery.

What can we expect from the store in the future? 

Mulberry customers can look forward to lots more variety in 2013. Plans for Mulberry include new product lines, a wider range of sarees, exciting competitions and special offers.
