Ever since the 2013 Spring/Summer runway showcased the '80s ear cuff, it would seem that the ear cuffs have made a comeback. In the early years this punk-rock earring trend injected a subversive, rebellious spirit. However, considering that this accessory is a common Indian trend that is worn with daily or glamorous outfits, it is wrong to say that the ear cuffs are only for the punk rockers within us.
The wearer can either opt for simple clean designs in gold or silver that are subtle and chic ear embellishments, or go for more of a fun style with chains and pendants that has one end cuffed to the ear and the other tied to the hair.
For a rich dramatic look one can chose to go for a heavy embellished ear cuffs that look like diamonds are adorning the ears. The fashion house Chanel has taken advantage of that look and has made the trend more elegant by using expensive luxurious diamonds making this trend suitable for all ages, even though not very wallet friendly.
The trend looks fantastic with the hair being pulled back, and can be the centre piece accessory for a night out or an evening event. However for a more subtle effect the ear cuffs can be worn with the hair down as it will sparkle from under the waves and create that feminine glamorous look.
Ear cuffs with small details give a bit of an edge and glam without revealing too much and the most daring could even pull it off with formal wear which is sure to make heads turn. So why not try out ear cuffs and judge for yourself whether it brings out the punk rocker or that elegant classic fashionista within you.
