Kasun Jayasinghe : Most innovative fashion designer at Artwalk 2015
The recently concluded Artwalk 2015 was a platform that encouraged many young designers and artists to showcase their creativity to an audience that admires it. With many runway models walking the ramp the entire event was adorned by the various designs that were exhibited. Speaking to the Daily Mirror Life, Kasun Jayasinghe, a budding individual who won the title for the Most Innovative Fashion designer shared his views about being a part of the event, his award and his future plans.
Give us an introduction about you.
I am Kasun Jayasinghe and I am a graduate of Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology (LIFT). I started fashion designing in 2011.
What is the award that you won at Artwalk 2015?
Most innovative fashion designer.
What was unique about your designs?
I wanted to do something different. The designs which I did for Artwalk were entirely done from polythene. There are different styles which we can follow. It’s a matter of thinking out of the box.
Are you happy with what you are doing?
Yes. I have always wanted to do fashion designing. My mother has been my biggest inspiration.
What other awards and accolades have you won?
In 2012, I won the title for the Up and Coming Fashion Designer of the year in the casual wear segment and I have participated in many other competitions such as Runway Super Model.
Future plans?
My next collection will be done next year and this time my focus is on bridalwear. In fact it is a combination of mine plus my mother’s designs.
