With love from Goa, we meet Scarlet Rose. Aged 20, she is a freelance model specialising in lingerie and swimwear modelling.
She is also a dancer who features in many music videos and an actress as well.

Scarlet has also been featured in many publications, magazines such as Times of India, Debonair, Indo Portuguese Global Magazine, Model's View Magazine, Star Week Magazine-Anniversary Issue and FHM.
She even contributed her talents in a short film for 5-star hotel “Mariots”, and another called “Been Here Before”. One of her recent acts was on a music video for hip hop crew: The Third Degree which aired on the internationally known music channel: VH1 .
Scarlett had a sad start to her life with her beloved mother passing away when she was just three years old. Growing up for a few years with her father in Assam, she studied at Holy Child Convent, Assam and then came to Goa and was educated at Presentation Convent High School, Goa and continued her higher studies at Marias Public School, Guwahati, Assam (CBSE Board). Now she is reading for her Bachelor’s in Commerce.
This dynamic girl is a keen basketball player and a football player as well and was part of her school and college teams.
She presently lives independently, studying and working as a model.
Life Online caught up with her to get to know her better...
You are one of the top models in Goa/India. Can you describe your success in three words?
Commitment, Dedication and Hard work.
You have acted in a short film "Been Here Before" which was superb, but why don't you take up more acting?
I have been offered a couple of acting roles in Bollywood movies, but I want to start with something big and work with a big name to start with. But since English is my mother tongue, I would love to do a nice English movie and maybe Hollywood later on.
If someone said "Scarlet M Rose is a bikini model and her shoots are sensual"- would that be right? Have you deliberately built this image for yourself?
Not necessarily! I have worked hard to get in shape and keep fit. I was more than 60kg some months back, before I got into modelling, and after months of working out, now I am 46kg.
Now, I am comfortable with my body, so I do bikini and lingerie shoots and I don’t deliberately make them seem sensual; it just happens.
What’s your contribution towards charity and are you helping any main charity programmes?
Yes, I do help underprivileged children, especially girls. Apart from monetary aid, I donate clothes and toys to orphanages and I also help girls who want to pursue modelling.
I conduct modelling and dance classes in batches for girls, where I train girls to do the catwalk, do photo shoots, cheer lead, dance etc, but I don’t charge them.
What was your favourite shoot and why?
I enjoy my work, so till date I have cherished all the shoots I have done, be it indoor or outdoor, regardless of all the photographers, designers, clients I have worked with. So maybe my favourite is yet to come, I guess.
In your free time, what do you do?
There are numerous things I do when I am not shooting, I am never idle, I catch up with my studies and make up for all I missed when I was busy with shoots. When I am not studying, I love cooking, dancing, photography, singing, travelling and since I live in Goa, I go to the beach for a walk or to work out or I am busy with my friends or students, dancing, singing or just having a nice time.
Do you have a plan to take on Hollywood anytime sooner?
Yes, if I get a good offer, I surely would take up Hollywood, as that’s my ultimate dream as of now.
What’s your criteria when it comes to choosing the projects you work on?
I am a little choosy when it comes to who I work with! I always do a background check of the photographer and take a look at his previous work and if I like the work, I go ahead.
Other than that, I take up work with people who either give me good publicity or a good pay and with regard to shoots, I do traditional, Indian, Western, designer wear, Bikini, Lingerie, but I refrain from body paints, nudes and if there is anything to do with casting couch, then it’s a big NO, then and there.
Compared to the 80s and 90s, has India evolved a lot in fashion? What’s your overall view on Indian fashion?
Yes, India has evolved a lot, there has been a transition from the conservative Indian woman, who had to be covered from head to toe, to a complete modern appearance, where women have shed their inhibitions and don’t mind experimenting with the modern apparels, and the same goes for men too, where men are more open to the changing fashion trends.
However, for the women, the Indian saree has carved a niche for itself and will never go out of date.
Last but not least, Scarlet, have you been to Sri Lanka? What are your thoughts of this lovely island? Will we see you working here anytime soon?
No, I haven’t visited Sri lanka, but only read about it and seen pictures. I would love to visit and do some shoots, as the beaches are so beautiful with crystal clear blue water and Kandy seems to be beautiful, rich with culture.
Colombo seems like a good place to shop and another reason I want to come is because people from Sri lanka are known for their hospitality; they are nice people to talk to and be with.
With regard to working in this beautiful island, yes, if the right opportunities and offers come my way, I will surely pack my bags as soon as possible or maybe even catch the next flight.
