Branded as “the biggest party of the year” by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globe Awards are traditionally viewed as the fun, slightly tipsy cousin of Hollywood’s awards show circuit.

Here are the best moments of the Golden Globe 2016.

1. Lady Gaga Wins Best Supporting Actress for AHS: Hotel Role

The American Horror Story: Hotel actress surprised a lot of fans when she won in the category for Best Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for TV. While fans of Gaga's portrayal of The Countess on Ryan Murphy's anthology series took to Facebook to rejoice, another moment overlapped her win.

Gaga bumping into Leonardo DiCaprio's chair and shoulder, and his subsequent reaction, may have contributed to the top trending topic of the evening.

2. The Martian Wins Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy

Matt Damon took home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in the Musical or Comedy and graciously thanked director Ridley Scott for being the incredible creative force behind the film adaptation of the bestselling book. Later, the flick took home the Globe for Best Picture, Musical or Comedy, while The Revenant won in the Drama category.

3. Leonardo DiCaprio Wins Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama, for The Revenant

DiCaprio had one of his best Golden Globe nights ever, thanks in part to his win for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama.

4. Taraji P. Henson Wins Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama, for Empire

All aboard the Cookie train! The Empire actress won on Sunday night and celebrated fabulously by handing out cookies to her fellow stars in the audience and then barking at somebody who had stepped on the (very long!) train of her white gown. She also ignored the instructions to wrap up her speech.

5. Mozart in the Jungle Wins Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy

Amazon's series was a surprise hit during Sunday's ceremony, with wins for both the show itself and star Gael Garcia Bernal.

6. Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell Present Nominees for the Best Screenplay

The Daddy's Home stars kept the banter going with Wahlberg calling out his costar for drinking a little too much at the alcohol-friendly awards show. "It’s alright, no more drinks for Will," Wahlberg joked, handing the Elf star a Lifesaver. "Like puppy or kitty cat breath," he added about Ferrell's stench.

7. Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence Presenting Clips for Their Movies in the Best Motion Picture, Comedy Category

The BFFs, who are currently working on a script together, had all of their viewers laughing during their presentation on Sunday night. “Hello, I’m J.Law," Lawrence told the crowd, while Schumer added: "And I’m A. Schu."

8. Ricky Gervais Introduces Mel Gibson

Ricky Gervais was bleeped out during his introduction of Mel Gibson on Sunday night. After Gibson told Gervais that he would put him to sleep, the 2016 Golden Globes host leaned over and remarked: "What does sugar tits mean, anyway?" (The moment was a reference to Gibson's infamous 2006 DUI arrest, when he allegedly said to a female officer: "What do you think you're looking at, sugar tits?")

9. Ouch! Kevin Hart and Ken Jeong Introduced, Burned by Ricky Gervais

Nobody was safe from Gervais on Sunday night, and that included presenters Kevin Hart and Ken Jeong. "When Brad [Pitt] and Angelina [Jolie] see our next two adorable little presenters, they’re going to want to adopt them," Gervais said in his intro. "Please welcome Kevin Hart and Ken Jeong."

10. Mr. Robot Wins Best TV Series, Drama

This underdog won big at the Globes, taking home the award for Best Television Series, Drama. Christian Slater also won for his supporting role on the show.
