“It’s a bird! It’s a plane – It’s superman!!!” No, let me rephrase that, “It’s a super model, it’s a super photographer – it’s Maria!!!”. This lovely lady is from Moscow Russia.  I am sure her clients must be mesmerised by her beauty and vice versa.

When you read through her exclusive interview with Life Online I am sure you will admire her for her courage and energy.

Personality questions

A model, a photographer?  What do you think you are better at and why?

Yes, this is right, I am like “two in one” and try to combine my main job as photographer with modelling activities. I deliberately put emphasis on the fact that the photographer’s work is to me is fundamental – because this is a profession, for which I followed a special course in university for some years and which now brings me the main income. But my modelling hobby is also very significant in my professional life - acquired skills that help me inestimably - after working on the other side of the camera, now I know and can easily tell my customers how to better stand up and relax in front of the camera, which pose and view will be the most winning. I love my job, I love photography and my clients: recognition and trust of the people with whom I was lucky enough to work - that is the best evaluation of my work. There is nothing better and more enjoyable than seeing the smiles of my clients satisfied with the results of work done!

Seems like you are a well empowered woman. What’s your secret?

Thanks a lot for your opinion about me, I take it as a compliment and the answer for your question is a phrase by which I do everything in my life - to achieve something, you need to work hard and love what you do, because exactly hard work is a key to success.

You must:
1) Know what you do and
2) Do what you know.

And I really know that I need to continue and further perfect myself in a professional environment, developing well-established skills. I read books, watch the work of my colleagues and also attend workshops and master-classes. I think if you are a professional, you should give a guarantee of the quality of your work in full. And in order to minimise possible errors, you need to know more about the "pitfalls", trends, new technologies, as well as to be able to objectively analyse your work.

But if we still remember about the fact that I am a young lady, I think that I can add one more option to my secret, granting me the qualities of empowered woman, and that will be a ‘sincere smile’. Always believe in yourself and as much as possible smile, enjoying each passing moment. Smile to life and life will smile to you!

Name one person who has helped you to get to where you are today?

I think this person is my mother – person who has inspired me and always supported me throughout my life. She helped me to come to where I am today, she believes in me and all my startings. We are very close and friendly. I could always talk to her about any topic. I think I am very lucky with my mum and she is the best woman I’ve ever met.

Any thoughts on Sri Lanka?

For me Sri Lanka is a magical country of absolute exoticism, country with a rich history and deep traditions - pearl of the Indian Ocean. I’ve heard a lot about it, especially due to the fact that your country is very popular in Russia as a tourist paradise. Some of my good friends last year had an unforgettable holiday there and now they always advise me to visit it and spend some weeks away from the hustle and bustle, close to the sea and nature. So I hope that one day in the near future, I’ll let myself some time to forget about work and make this journey into the unique world of Sri Lanka. Because travelling is one of my happiness components.

What’s your life beyond modelling and photography?

My life beyond my beloved work is full of travelling all around the world. As I said in the previous answer I love to travel a lot. In the last two years I’ve visited more than 15 countries, among which are USA, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and a lot of others.

For me travel is a freedom. This is not just moving in space. The real journey in my opinion is an opportunity to feel a different world. Understand it, feel it, plunge into it. Travelling is sensations, smells, fog over the river, roar of port cities, gothic spheres reaching into the sky, a small cafe on the banks of the Seine... Travel is life, in all of its manifestations!
