First foreign wedding on the East Coast

Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa was proud to have hosted its first wedding on 18th February 2012 at the pristine Passekudah beach, in the East Coast of Sri Lanka making it the first foreign wedding to be held in this region after the end of three decades of war.
The Russian nationals, Ms. Olga Yurievna Gorbacheva (Bride) & Mr. Vladimir Alexandroich Luchakovskiy (Groom) arrived in Sri Lanka on Saturday, 11th February with their family members to celebrate their wedding at a place they could call paradise.
This dream was made a reality by Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa organizing unique wedding with a blend of Russian, Sinhalese and Hindu cultures.
A traditional Sinhalese Poruwa ceremony with Kandyan dancers and drummers followed by Russian customs and releasing of two white Doves to signify the peace in the East coast.
The couple was dressed in traditional Hindu dresses, the bride in a colorful Saari and Hindu jewelry and the groom in a Vettie and a turban. The ceremony was conducted by the local Hindu priest. For this event, number of hotel guests, staff as well as many locals participated which made it a perfectly balanced event.
This was not only an unforgettable event for the wedded couple and their families, but for the locals in Passekudah as well.
The wedded couple will continue to celebrate their joy for a week by the Passekudah bay at the Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa.

Feb 21, 2012 at 02:56 amI went 1week before this wedding with friends. Passikuda beach is so beautiful. Very charm beach and water. It s like maldives like you see here. Developments also started but not fast. Many reorts only foundations, even roads off roads. Slow is the major delay.
