Jacqueline Fernandez back in September for second shoot of "According to Mathew"
Popular Sri Lankan born Bollywood star and former Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe Jacqueline Fernandez will be back in the country in September for the second shooting schedule of the movie ‘According to Mathew’ – a breathtaking story blended with romance, crime and thriller directed by Chandran Rutnam.
The story is based on the affair and the murders by Rev. Father Mathew Pieris, pastor of St. Paul’s Church, who was later sentenced to death for the murder of his wife and the husband of his mistress.
Alston Koch plays the role of Fr. Peiris in the Sri Lankan Hollywood movie while Jacqueline plays Dalrene Ingram.
Chandana Jayasinghe handles the cinematography while James Rutnam is the editor.
Chandran said he had been planning this story from the early nineties and had also met Fr. Peiris in prison before writing the script.
Life Online caught up with Director Chandran Rutnam for a chat..

With the heat of his award winning film A Common Man still blazing, Chandran Rutnam is at it again - making magic in our own backyard , together with the newest Bollywood sensation Jacqueline Fernandez. The movie is called “According to Mathew” and is based on a true story.
I met Mr.CR at the Royal Golf Club and here are some excerpts from the conversation.
What is the budget for this movie?
It’s a budget of 2 million dollars
What were the locations for the movie?
It was done in Horana because we found sceneries which were similar to the original story.
What is the scheduled time frame for the movie?
The 1st schedule of shooting is finished and we will shoot again in September as Jacqueline is away now.
Is this a Sri Lankan product?
Of course, the crew and the cast is 100% Lankan.
What is your dream for this movie? Where do you want to place it in your hall of fame?
As humans, everyone wants to do better than the last time. A Common Man was a hit and it took Sri Lanka to the world and I am pretty sure that this movie is going to be a hit as it’s a selling story. This is an English movie. And everyone loves Jacqueline, she plays the mistress of the fictional character Father Mathew.
I was reading reviews of the movie American Gangster which is also based on a true story, but one of the main real life characters said the movie was only 1% accurate. Are you afraid of similar remarks when your movie comes out?
The script is presented by Elezer who had done lots of research before he wrote the whole thing. However we got references from court records and this is how close we can get to being accurate.
