The third and final day of the main HSBC Colombo Fashion Week concluded on a high note on Saturday 8 February with several notable Sri Lankan fashion designers showcasing their new collections.
This year Maria Yusefovna Al-Kasas was the recipient of the FACE OF HSBC CFW 2014 award. Modelling for a relatively short time Maria has modelled for many shows.
“I hope this award helps me to achieve much more in my life,” she commented.
The HSBC CFW Life time Achievement Award
The HSBC CFW Life time Achievement Award was presented to Buddhi Keerthisena for his services to the Sri Lankan craft industry. An exponent of Batik, Buddhi has been in the Batik industry for over four decades and is considered one of the island’s finest Batik craftsmen.
“This is a great achievement for me and despite the shortage of labour I hope that Batik will continue to flourish in the future,” he observed.
The Gen Next Award
The Gen Next award was presented to Yasisurie Kiribandara for her collection which used symbols in sacred geometry using laser cut technology to incorporate these motifs.
“Winning this award is so unexpected and I am more determined than ever to make my label Oneera a great success,” said Yasisurie.
