Actions speak louder than words - Stephanie takes it up a notch
Stephanie Siriwardhana is somebody that needs no introduction. Having represented Sri Lanka at the Miss Universe pageant last year and having achieved great heights in her career, she remains as one of the most modest and down to earth fashion icons that many of us have come across and have had the pleasure of meeting.
A few weeks ago, I was surprised to see Stephanie walking along the Mount Lavinia beach stopping every now and then to have a chat with people who would wave at her; in return she would wave at them and say “hello” accompanied by one of the biggest smiles that I have ever seen.
Staying true to her modesty and fantastic upbringing, she never mentioned to anyone that she has been doing quite a lot of work under the radar.
For starters she has recorded a song which is now receiving major air play on radio. In keeping with the Christmas spirit, Stephanie has gone on to record her own rendition of Silent Night, the classic Christmas carol along with Azlan Sherrifdeen and Dirk James - two stalwarts in the local music industry.
When inquired as to how this project came about, she said, “I have always enjoyed singing; from a young age. I first met Azlan during Yes Superstar and after the competition we kept in touch. When Christmas was around the corner Azlan said he was involved in a Christmas Project and I jumped at the idea and said I want to sing Silent Night because it is an all time favourite.”
Stephanie has another gigantic project under her belt. Having been a dancer for the past 7 years Stephanie has just returned from India after shooting a dance scene for an upcoming movie, inspired by a true story.

Steph, as she is fondly known, is surely not going to stop there, keeping true to her Sri Lankan identity she will make sure that she puts our little island paradise amongst the headlines in her own little way!
