Even though this girl is sometimes called a DJ , she does everything else but that. She was the wicket keeper for Kuwait’s National Women’s team once making all of us proud as Sri Lankans. During the chat we had, I realised that she is multi-talented.

You have an exciting life. Do you feel that this wouldn’t be so if you’d only lived in Sri Lanka?
It is always hard to leave everything behind and adjust to a new place but that is what life is about. One of my friends used to say, "Life begins when you step out of your comfort zone". So I am officially out and about the new life and it's going pretty good. Sri Lanka is a beautiful place to start up fresh, just need the right contacts and some good company. I feel it's going to be a remarkable journey.
You are engaged in sports, modelling, studies. Has someone ever told you that you are engaged in too many things?
You forgot to mention dance, which is another important part of my life. I got those regular warnings from teachers and my principal, during my school days. But somehow that never stopped me. Fortunately, my parents were very supportive of me doing these diverse activities. Back in school, I remember once a teacher told me "If you continue like this, you will never succeed in life. Do one thing properly or you are wasting your life". I think I took that up as more of a challenge than a warning in my mind. I believe I came out just fine doing everything and being a First Class student in A/Ls.
What made you come back to Sri Lanka?
I wanted to go out into the world and see how I manage on my own doing my studies and work. But at the end of the day, I am the only girl in the family of two overprotective lovely brothers. So they all believed that university life here will be challenging for me and that I should have my parents around for safety. And Colombo stands out as a challenge, I must say. If I had to pick, I'd go to the States, Canada or Australia.
Out of all the things you do, what do you enjoy the most?
I apologise to the different teams reading this, but I LOVE DANCING - the feeling of being on stage with music, lights, costumes and routines. The word 'love' is not enough to describe how much I really adore it. It's just the most eccentric and lively feeling in the whole world. The different styles of choreographies in this world are so inspiring and very touching. The passion in the eyes and body language can never be made, it comes from within.
How do you plan to make it "big" in Sri Lanka?
Make it "big" is a little bit of passion, talent and hard work. I really want to get into the fashion industry of Sri Lanka through modelling and working with well reputed photographers and designers, show my talents through dance, be featured in music videos and take up challenges that come my way. Like my mom says, the media industry is very wide and interesting in Sri Lanka.
Are men reluctant to date a sports girl? What are your thoughts?
To sum it up, YES! To this very day, no matter what they say, the first impression always matters. So a sporty girl isn't always the most attractive. When I was back in school, guys used to mostly see me in sports clothes, which obviously made me look like a guy. So they used to call me a Tomboy and 'Dilshan' and that never de-motivated me from sports but I was never the dating type. But later on with the change in my looks and with my achievements starting to pile up, the guys saw a different me. Then the number of boys who tried to impress me got to be a little too annoying.
Don’t you want to try the Sri Lankan team?
The opportunity to try out would of course be great. Even to play for a club would be good enough. Wicket keeping has always been a joy in the field. I’m a little out of practice now but the feeling of being out in the field is amazing. With university in the picture, the routine is a little tight in Sri Lanka.
Who are your favourite Sri Lankan and international cricketers and why?
Sri Lankan cricketers would be Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena, for being two of the best captains we’ve had. They are very cool headed in the matches; Kumar really inspires me when it comes to wicket keeping and Mahela's batting is just outstanding.
Internationally, M.S. Dhoni from India for the overall talent, AB De Villiers from South Africa for Keeping and batting and Ellyse Perry from the Women’s Australian Team for her extraordinary fielding and bowling.
How is the support from your home front?
I am really blessed in this aspect. I have immense support from Mom and Dad in everything. And my second elder brother has been the biggest support when it came to cricket. My eldest brother shows support however he can. And I have two beautiful sisters-in-law that are very talented when it comes to fashion. Both of them help me out with everything they can for my shoots and shows. I love and miss them a lot! God has truly been good to me with my family.
