Dilani is new to the world of modelling. A talented athlete and poet, she is currently doing her higher studies, and she has, even at a young age, found a way to launch into a career of modelling, and quite a successful one, I might add.
She’s been a part of quite a few bridal shoots already and she is looking forward to expanding her portfolio.

As a model, your portfolio contains a lot of bridal shoots. Any reason behind this?
There is no particular reason behind it. Some designers think I look better in bridals and I’m comfortable with bridals. That doesn’t mean I don’t do fashion modelling.
Has anyone told you that you possess a small structure?
To be honest, yes, so many people have told me that I look small. But it doesn’t mean I should give up doing what I like. I am passionate about modelling and I’ve got the skills too. I have done so many shoots, music videos and ramp shows. So I love myself for who I am and how I look.
I’ve seen so many wannabe models on social media who post pictures of themselves for cheap feedback. What’s your view on this?
There are so many young girls who want to be models. They upload pictures on Facebook and other social media sites. They do this to gain popularity in social media. If that is what they think about modelling, then it’s up to them.
But as a newcomer, one thing I would say is that modelling is a very demanding profession and it isn’t easy as other people think. So we need to be very professional and hard working to get by in the field.
Is this your future career?
No, not really. I’ve got so many goals to achieve. Modelling is my hobby, it is really fun. It’s a positive experience with opportunities. I may do it as a part time career as I’d love to go very far with it…
What are your other talents?
I’m a good athlete as well. I have written poems for school competitions and have won. Also I believe that winning hearts of people with a warm smile is another valuable talent of mine.
Are there any restrictions from home for what you do?
Yes that was when I was schooling. But now my parents support me a lot in what I do. Sometimes my sister comes with me wherever I go. My family is my strength; they trust me heaps and they’d love to see me famous one day.
Are you a social person?
Yes indeed, I’m very close to people. I help them as much as I can. I love going up to an unknown group of people and talking to them. It’s nice to introduce myself and get to know them because meeting new people and making new friends has become a part of my life now.
