Devashrie de Silva on Buzz with Danu

Today on the Buzz I speak to a talented personality - someone who has been in the public eye for some time now. Something I love about her, although I have not gotten the chance to get to know her on a personal note, is that she always looks her best, and carries herself like a star.

Music is her heart and Sociology is her profession. She is a multitasker with a lot of drive. Today she speaks about her life on the Buzz, hope you enjoy the amazing Devashrie.

What’s new in the world of music? Music always keeps changing! So there is something new every day!

Are you involved in any new shows?
Yes, there is going to be one wonderful show with a lineup of some talented musicians coming together in aid of domestic and migrant workers on 14th June promoting awareness on issues that need to be heard and supported!

Performed at a music festival in JaEla recently which was absolutely rocking! A big shout out to everyone who came to see us!

How is the local music industry treating you?
Good. I think I am feeling more and more at home with the local music scene.

What are the new projects you are working on?

I’m working on a couple of recording collaborations with some fantastic artistes, always a pleasure to work with! Also, working on the concept of my third Sinhala single.

Then, I continue to perform with Mahesh Denipitiya’s fusion band, the kind of music that keeps me learning and the music I always run back to!

Also there is one fabulous theatre musical in the pipeline for later this year which I am humbled to be a part of, it’s definitely going to be a treat!

How were you as a kid?

Annoying everyone with my nonstop chatter and singing!

Tell me a little bit about your family?
They are wonderful! My parents - they are a great match together and they put their heart and soul into whatever they do. They brought us up with a lot of love and faith. I have one younger brother my D2! He is super talented in lots of ways! And I also have a wonderful nangi now after malli got married. My hubby Nirosh is my rock and my best friend. He is the most talented pastel artist I know in Lanka! (which is really his side hobby!) And having his family to call my own too is wonderful! I have been blessed with all these loving people in my life…..

Do you think LOVE is chemical, intellectual, spiritual — or completely undefinable?
True it’s undefinable! I also think it’s just one very honest feeling that you can’t ignore.

What does FEAR feel like, in your body? Gosh what a question! Ummm, maybe tears?

Do you think you’re currently operating at 100% capacity? Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

What do you value most: free time, recognition, or money? Honesty, Freedom, Courage

If...

If you could sit down with your 15-year old self, what would you tell her? You are enough! Be yourself!

If you had to rank yourself on attractiveness on a scale of 1-10, what would you rank yourself? 9 - always room for a little improvement!

If a relationship doesn’t work out, do you think there is space for friendship? Of course, always!

If you could choose your own life obstacles, would you keep the ones you have? No, I would change some!

In the Spot

How do you handle all the negative comments you receive, and where did you read most of them?
Learn from the constructive criticism- that’s always a good thing!
Leave out the rest, it’s just not worth it to worry over! Some I read but most are rumours I have heard being fabricated!
