With mesmerising moves and looks, she is undoubtedly the “dancing queen of Sri Lanka” and is always a popular pick for almost all BnS concerts, high end corporate events, TV shows and state functions.
Prashadi, at the age of 26, is one of the most successful young ladies in the island. She owns and operates a highly recognised dance troupe and she is also the managing director of her dance school which has an enrollment of over 200 students.
Mastering dance acts ranging from Kandyan to Western and many more, she is very disciplined in her dance acts where she maintains 100% quality and satisfaction for her audience.
Here is Prashadi – up-close and personal.
If you hadn’t decided to become a dancer 5 years ago, what would you be today?
A businessperson, running my own company like my father.
In another decade on a Sunday, do you picture yourself playing with your kid and making a lovely lunch at home?
Well, I might be because I'm still learning to cook by myself.
Is beauty a main ingredient for preforming?
No I don't think so, if she or he is a perfect, well talented dancer that is the only thing that the people judge.
I can see that you are an organized person, everything you do is done neatly. What’s your secret?
That is because of my dancing teacher. She groomed me on how to get it right the first time and now I'm teaching my students as she did.
From all the countries you’ve visited, what’s your favourite and why?
Australia! I love the weather and the people are very friendly. There is so much to explore in that country.
Prashadi, you are one of the most famous dancers in Sri Lanka. What’s your plan to sustain your place?
I make sure I am very professional with the clients. That’s the first thing I keep in mind and secondly I keep on doing new creations, acts which no one has ever done before.
Are you the most expensive dancer and dancing troupe in Sri Lanka?
No I don't agree. There are so many dancing groups than before, it depends on the talent and the dress.
Can you share your meal plan, exercise plan with our readers? Also some tips to stay fit?
Well I don't eat too much. I eat lots of healthy foods; not fast foods. I do a lot of exercises daily. My tip for you readers is that if you need to lose the fat, try some green tea daily.
Can a person self-learn your techniques and your art?
Yes I would love to see someone who can follow my steps and dance like me. I enjoy seeing my students’ talent too. I think that’s the happiest thing in the world for all teachers.
When are you planning to retire?
I would love to perform till I die but I think it’s bit of a hard thing after having babies since I will have more responsibilities then. It’s too early to comment further.

Oct 18, 2012 at 06:01 pmWhy she had to do herself up over the top even for a relaxed interview is beyond me. Perhaps she does not have the least bit confidence in her natural look which I actually don’t blame her for as one reader said before she is below ordinary without those thousands of layers of make-up. Her English not surprisingly is very poor. She is a good dancer though and I'll give her that much but to call her the “dancing queen” of SL? Really??? Let me put it this way. In my opinion be it when it comes to

Oct 19, 2012 at 09:32 amSeriously guys, enough with all the personal stuff. I have seen her perform live at the SLPL opening ceremony and was very impressed. For the record I find her attractive with or without make up. The bottom line however and the most important fact about her is what she has managed to achieve at such an incredibly young age of 26. Instead of living in the shadows of some big name senior dancer by being a part of his or her troupe, Prashadi took the initiative to carve a residence for herself that

Oct 21, 2012 at 09:47 amShoaib, I take my hat off to you for fiighting a good fight on behalf of Prashadi. I hope that if she does see your comment she at least has the decency to say thank you to you because as you can see based on all the comments here you are the only one who speaks of her in such glowing terms. You have made a strong case for her in terms of what she has achieved and as for the looks go I won't comment on that as you are entitled to your own opinion and so be it while I still stand by what I said e

Oct 22, 2012 at 07:19 amMate, I am breaking my response to you to two parts as DM allows only 1000 words per comment. Here is PART 1. I did not write what I wrote earlier expecting a thank you note from Prashadi. Just wrote what I thought was right as I felt you guys were being absurdly unfair on her with all the judging (personal and professional). I have seen Channa’s troupe perform from close quarters both here in Lon as well as once in DC and I totally agree that they are brilliant. But woman to woman or dancer to

Oct 22, 2012 at 07:21 amPART 2 - Hence, she was not fortunate to get an assist from inside the industry to help her make her way through. She didn’t attend one of the elitist Colombo schools or anything like that either and that is what makes her story quite beautiful. This is a girl who had a dream and went after it bravely and today sits pretty (literally and metaphorically) as one of the top notch dancers in the Country and all of this she has accomplished yes I am going to say it again; AT JUST 26! John says:
Oct 23, 2012 at 07:26 amWow! Shoaib you make a very compelling case for Prashadi. It’s inevitable to think that you might be closely connected to her. Either way your arguments are difficult to challenge and even though I still stand by what I said earlier and the fact that Prashadi is no way SL's dancing queen, I am going to concede defeat to you simply because I don't have a counter argument to give you in response to your well crafted and very smartly presented points. Your defense of Prashadi is almost indisputable

Oct 24, 2012 at 03:56 amNot a spokesman but more like social media’s Dark knight. Bruce Wayne and I do have a lot in common. We are both billionaires although his wealth is valued in US$ and mine in Zimbabwe $. Given the current state of the US economy I think soon even with my Zim $ (no longer in circulation) I will be richer than Bruce. We both have perfectly normal jobs in the day-time with Bruce being the owner of a billion dollar Business Empire and me working for a multi-billion dollar Wall Street Investment Bank
John says:
Oct 24, 2012 at 08:19 amLOL dude!!! That was hilarious Shoaib! Great sense of humour. I don't think she deserved it at all but you certainly did fight a good fight on your own on behalf of her and did get justice for her. There are far more deserving cases than Prashadi who would love to have someone like you fight for them. I hope social media's Dark Knight is not bound by a special connection to Prashadi only and will fight the good fight for the other more deserving cases too!

Oct 26, 2012 at 04:39 amMate, what is your problem with Prashadi? Every comment of yours includes some kind of a pot shot at her and / or an attempt to put her down. You don't have to like her or what she does but geez man, give the girl a break with all these negative innuendos. She did not claim to be the "dancing queen of Sri Lanka" and it certainly aint her problem if others bestowed that title on her. So if you have an issue with Prashadi being referred to as the “dancing queen of Sri Lanka” you should take it up
John says:
Oct 26, 2012 at 07:34 am@Shoaib, dude, this article is incorrect when it refers to Prashadi as the "dancing queen of Sri Lanka" and also when it says that she is the popular pick for almost all BnS concerts. Please go to youtube and check out BnS concerts and see in how many of them Prashadi has peformed and you will find nothing. Oct 26, 2012 at 11:13 amI am forced to resort to another two-part answer to you. As ridiculous as that sounds to me, it would still be brainless for me to have a go at Lebron for what the media is saying about him cause at the end of the day Lebron never said or claimed that one day he will be better than Jordan. It is the media who are coming up with such stories. Similarly, in this case it would be foolish for y

Oct 26, 2012 at 11:33 amOn a final note, the only time I saw Prashadi perform live was at an event where she actually did perform with Bathiya & Co and that being the SLPL opening ceremony. I think this article is damn right in referring to Prashadi as the “Dancing Queen of Sri Lanka” because not only is she beautiful, charming and a terrific dancer she is also possibly the youngest to own a very popular dance troupe in SL and run a dance academy where she teaches more than 200 students. All of this and more accomplish
John says:
Oct 26, 2012 at 12:05 pm@Shoaib, Dude who are you man? Are you social media's Dark Knight or Prashadi's Dark Knight? I guess we will never know. Again you come up with points that are hard to argue against and I agree with you that what she has accomplished is really fantastic so early in her career and I also don't deny that she is a very talented dancer. Bloody hell, I can't I believe I just said that! Looks like you have converted me or at least made me think about it. I bet you can sell a cat to a mouse too!

Oct 26, 2012 at 06:05 pmThumbs up to both Shoaib and John for keeping a nice, clean, intense and intelligent discussion going. This is the way more of these web based discussions should take place. John says:
Oct 27, 2012 at 04:47 pm@Natasha, true that. It is indeed refreshing to have a discussion that is clean, intelligent and informative and also have it with a bloke like Shoaib aka social media's Dark Knight (or more like Prashadi's Dark Knight) who has done a stellar job fighting a no holds barred good fight all on his own for Prashadi.

Oct 28, 2012 at 08:19 am"Sell a cat to a mouse"??? hmmmm. Let me put it this way; I'll at least get the mouse to think about it.
Natasha says:
Oct 28, 2012 at 09:14 amHere is a question (might be a dumb question given your unbridled support for Prashadi) for you Mr. Dark Knight. Who would you pay top $ (US not ZIM lol!) to watch performing? Channa's dance troupe or Prashadi?
Shoaib says:
Oct 30, 2012 at 09:41 amNatasha- Yeah, Bruce Wayne and I are Vigilante crime fighters. We just have different methods to get the job done, that's all. As you would agree his job is much easier than mine.
Natasha says:
Oct 30, 2012 at 10:13 am@Shoaib Haha yes Bruce Wayne has it way too easier than you. Here is a question (might be a dumb question given your unbridled support for Prashadi) for you Mr. Hot shot social media crime fighter. Who would you pay top $ (US not ZIM lol!) to watch performing? Channa's dance troupe or Prashadi?
Shoaib says:
Oct 30, 2012 at 10:29 amNatasha – Don’t laugh about my ZIM $ billions. As long as the US economy remains on a life support machine called “China” my plans of ruling the world with my ZIM $ billions is alive or so I like to think! The answer to your question is; neither. The reason for that is I would pay top $ only for an audience with the people who have influenced and shaped my life greatly and they are (in no particular order) – Michael Jordan the greatest ever to play any sport, Bill Clinton the greatest US Preside

Oct 30, 2012 at 11:03 am@Shoaib, Dude just when I thought finally a comment from you without mentioning Prashadi's name you had to go and throw in that last line didn't you! Tell me, If this were a case and you were in front of a jury and you had to make a closing statement to seal the deal for Prashadi, how would it go?
Natasha says:
Oct 30, 2012 at 11:15 am@Shoaib- Very nicely said!!! I have seen all your comments and as I said before you really have made me look at Prashadi in a completely different way and I really admire her even more after reading what you have written. But what really in your eyes makes her that much more special than her peers in the industry?
Shoaib says:
Oct 30, 2012 at 11:20 amJohn, if this was a case I would not need a closing statement as I believe I have done enough already to earn a unanimous verdict from the jury for the defense in record time. After giving the verdict the members of the jury would be chasing me all over the place trying to see whether I could get tickets for them for Prashadi's next performance. That will be the bigger headache for me than the verdict of the case which was always a foregone conclusion.
John says:
Oct 30, 2012 at 11:57 am@Shoaib, Lol Dude!!! Even if I stand a chance of winning against Bruce Wayne, I have no chance against you!
Shoaib says:
Oct 30, 2012 at 12:04 pmWe live in this ultra competitive world & when you choose to venture out on your own in a bid to establish your own identity you have to be prepared for a long arduous grind to make it to the top especially when you do it all on your own with no assist from family members already in the industry and so on. For some of us just being good at something is not enough. As I said before some people are very happy being ‘a part of something’ that is special. Others who are brave and ambitious aspire ‘t

You have supported her in such a refined, cultured and intelligent manner that it makes it impossible to not take note of what you have said. You know Shoaib I am not sure whether Prashadi can sing as well as she can dance but if she can then she should sing and dedicate the song "Wind beneath my wings" to

Oct 31, 2012 at 09:53 amOMG Shoaib! You are absolutely out of your mind crazy! I mean that in a very good way though. That was so funny and yet fitting as well especially given what you have been saying about her in this discussion. So what do you think Whitney will make of your version of her number 1 hit?
Shoaib says:
Oct 31, 2012 at 11:07 amNatasha – Firstly, let us assume that Whitney is in heaven cause internet connections I am sure are pretty bad in hell as they have only one service provider, Satantel (a fully on subsidiary of Satan holdings Pvt Ltd.) Now assuming that she is in heaven, after listening to my version of her song she is most likely doing up there exactly what John is doing down here on earth which is googling Prashadi and then checking out her performances on youtube etc, etc.
Natasha says:
Oct 31, 2012 at 11:47 am@Shoaib - Haha! Let's hope poor Whitney is in heaven. As I said earlier you have taken Prashadi to a level that I don't think anyone has ever done. I certainly have not read or heard anywhere even 10% of the positives and praise that you have highlighted and showered upon her so eloquently and intelligently during the course of this discussion. She has definitely earned new fans and a lot of positive publicity thanks all to you. She is very, very lucky to have someone like you project her so won
Natasha says:
Nov 01, 2012 at 09:32 am@Shoaib - A common mistake mistake most in our entertainment industry make is that when they taste a little bit of success early in their career it goes to their head and suddenly they think they have have achieved everything when in reality they are barely getting started and then their career starts to decline and they don't even realise it because they float around in a delusional state. Take for example Prashadi, she has been around for 5 years and until I and probably many others read your

Nov 01, 2012 at 10:43 amNatasha – You are absolutely spot on. Whether it’s me or you or Prashadi or anyone else, what we have to always keep in mind is that getting to the top is easy but staying there (legitimately and playing by the rules) is so bloody difficult. The moment you start to think that you have achieved everything and have nothing left to achieve that’s when the slow and painful death of your career begins. Those of us who aspire not just to get to the top in our respective fields but also aspire to stay

These are the people I look to draw strength from when I have a bad day. I would wonder “what would Michael Jordan do to get himself out of this hopeless situation”. Nov 05, 2012 at 05:23 am@Shoaib, Hear hear! I meant to ask you this earlier. In one of your comments you mentioned that Jordan invented the clutch gene. What did you mean by that? What is the clutch gene?
Shoaib says:
Nov 05, 2012 at 05:50 amNatasha – The clutch gene is that unique & incredible ability to perform under enormous pressure in the final seconds of a game when the game is on the line & it is up to you to make the big plays down the stretch that either wins or loses the game for your team. Some people are afraid to be in that situation because they are afraid of failure. But not Jordan. He was never afraid of the prospect of failing & that is why he went on to become the greatest winner / Champion the world has ever seen

Nov 05, 2012 at 06:03 am@Shoaib, bro there is not doubt that you have changed my opinion about Prashadi greatly and that is all to do with the way you have projected her. I am even almost admitting that she deserves the tag of "dancing queen of SL". However, before you came along and propelled Prashadi's profile she was not very popular at all for someone who was is an artist in SL. Her facebook page has only 2,700 odd likes which has climbed recently and like Natasha I suspect that it happened mostly after people read

Nov 05, 2012 at 06:19 amOh dear John, I can't wait to read Shoaib's response to you!
Shoaib says:
Nov 05, 2012 at 06:41 amJohn – Mate, this is my final curtain on this topic so I am going to resort to a three-part or even four-part answer to you. PART 1 – Firstly, please don’t make it look like I did some massive favour for Prashadi by saying what I said. She is a talented performer & a brilliant woman who has achieved so much in her career that frankly has not even reached its apex yet. All I did was to present her beautiful story in all its glory as it deserved nothing less. On the subject of fanfare it really do
Shoaib says:
Nov 05, 2012 at 06:42 amPART 2 – I am not saying they don’t connect with the audience but you cannot compare it with the connection that those other stars have with their respective audiences. Therefore, you cannot expect a dancer to evoke fan frenzy or hysteria like those other stars do whenever they are in a public forum. That is why the examples you have given are in my opinion not a basis on which you can judge Prashadi’s popularity or more precisely the lack of it. As a 26 year-old owner of a dance troupe she stil
Shoaib says:
Nov 05, 2012 at 06:45 amPART 3 - Venturing out on your own in a bid to make a name for yourself is a monumental task especially when you don’t have family in the industry to give you a hand. Everyone will be working 24/7 to discourage you & try & derail your dream, your journey in any which way they can. That’s unfortunately life. Hence, to be able to overcome all those obstacles & still achieve your goal at age 26 or younger is quite brilliant. Despite all her extremely impressive accomplishments I would still like to
Shoaib says:
Nov 05, 2012 at 06:48 amPART 4 - Not just from a dancing point of view but those aspiring dancers, even those that come from the not so privileged backgrounds in various parts of SL can draw inspiration from Prashadi’s drive, ambitiousness & her desire so early in her career to go after her dreams & create her own identity in the world of SL dance. She could have chosen the easy way out of forever living in the shadow of some big name dancer in the Country. But she had bigger dreams & kudos to her for bravely & relentl
Natasha says:
Nov 05, 2012 at 07:29 am@Shoaib!!! Wow! I mean Wow!!! That was one hell of a final curtain! I'll tell you this much. I really hope that Prashadi reads every word that you have written about her here because there is no way in hell that anyone else would have or even could have defended her, supported her and given her this huge profile boost like you have. Not only should Prashadi read everything you have said here but she must also bookmark this page and glance at it whenever she has a tough day or is feeling down bec

Natasha says:
Nov 06, 2012 at 04:34 am@John -lol poor John! Yes you did! Did you expect anything else? Lol! On a serious note, what has made me really change my opinion about Prashadi and really admire her now is the manner in which Shoaib defended her against everything negative about her that you threw at him. Shoaib went into specific details to counter everything you said and basically presented an iron clad defence of Prashadi and through it projected her in such a beautiful manner. What Shoaib did to me as far as Prashadi is c

Nov 07, 2012 at 11:10 amHey Shoaib, I know you had your final curtain on this topic so pardon me for asking another question. You mentioned that you watched Prashadi perform in that cricket event. I believe that was the first and only time you have seen her perform live. Give us your take on what you saw.
Shoaib says:
Nov 07, 2012 at 12:10 pmNatasha – Another question? Really? Why god why? (Just kidding!) Hmm so you want to know my take on what I thought of Prashadi when I saw her perform live. Realistically, I would need to give you a 10-Part (at least) answer to do justice to that question. However, I will stick to the shorter version. It was at the SLPL opening ceremony that I saw her perform a few months back. I arrived late & just when I came in, Bathiya & Co were speaking & then they broke into a song. Embarrassingly for me it

Nov 08, 2012 at 05:46 am@Shoaib - OMG I think Prashadi brings the Shakespeare out of you. Your lavish praise of her will be ethereal to her I am sure. I bet my bottom dollar that she has never ever heard anything remotely close to that kind of a complement ever in her life.
John says:
Nov 08, 2012 at 06:00 am@Shoaib, Dude, all Natasha asked you was what you thought of Prashadi's performance when you watched her live and why can't you answer like us normal simple guys and say something simple like "It was great" or "I enjoyed it very much" or "She was amazing" or some other simple answer like that. Why do you have to give an answer that comes across as something that can easily be used as the first part of a modern Romeo and Juliet kind of play or something. Bro, you make us simple guys look bad. My
Natasha says:
Nov 08, 2012 at 06:29 am@John - That was so hilarious!!! Not for you I am sure John but OMG. See Shoaib what you have done. Your lavish, generous and ethereal praise of Prashadi is causing trouble amongst other couples. Poor John!
Shoaib says:
Nov 08, 2012 at 08:43 amHaha! Sorry John I know I shouldn’t be laughing but couldn’t help myself. What can I say? I am a devotee of the Michael Jordan way of life where half measures are never an option. You either give it everything or give it nothing. That is why when I say something I go the full distance & say it as I see it. Since what I wrote about Prashadi seems to have got you into a bit of a pickle with your fiancée let me suggest something “simple” to try & get you out of it. You need to be able to sing thoug
Natasha says:
Nov 08, 2012 at 09:22 am@Shoaib - The Guru has spoken! Take notes John. But can you hit the high pitch of Bon Jovi? Awesome song though. Really love it. Only Shoaib could have picked out the perfect song like he always picks out the perfect words to describe Prashadi.
John says:
Nov 09, 2012 at 04:49 am@Shoaib, Great suggestion but unfortunately I couldn't sing even if someone held a gun to my head. lol! Super song though if only I coud have given it a go. Natasha will agree with me when I say that for us lesser souls, those that actually can sing, we have to resort to songs of others to communicate something beautiful but you on the hand my friend, when you start praising Prashadi beautiful and profound words just flow from you like the Niagara falls and even the words of the most beautiful s

Nov 09, 2012 at 10:29 am"For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
Let the record show I took the blows for Prashadi(from John in particular)
And did it my way!"
John says:
Nov 10, 2012 at 04:07 am@Shoaib, hehe, fits nicely except you did not take any blows from anyone my friend cause you were busy knocking out cold anyone who even mentioned a word that was remotely negative about Prashadi. Dude, we could not even lay a hand on you as you had us constantly kissing the mat with your knock out blows as you single-handedly defended her majesty Prashadi like I don't think anyone else could have even come close to doing. Not sure how a simple girl who went to Anula Vidyalaya in Nugegoda, manag
Natasha says:
Nov 11, 2012 at 12:35 pm@Shoaib - Mr. Hot shot only you could take a verse of a classic song like that and somehow find a way to beautifully fit Prashadi in there somewhere. Agree with John fully. You certainly did it your way Shoaib as you stood tall and gave Prashadi a boost of a lifetime. You even managed to convert John! Now that is some achievement! No wonder you are the best closer in your team at your work place!
Shoaib says:
Nov 12, 2012 at 09:23 amJohn, if losing a couple of teeth is the very small price you need to pay for the truth and in this case to defend the honour of Prashadi then my friend it should be a price you should be willing and happy to pay any day any time. As Lord Buddha said; “three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon and the truth”. So John my advice to you is look those trying to break your teeth in the eye and say to them in no uncertain terms “You can break my teeth but the truth and my unflinching suppo

Nov 12, 2012 at 10:34 am@Shoaib - You are absolutely mad funny! By the way there is a BnS concert today and I might go for it. If your ethereal Queen is performing with them I'll give you a review later in the week.
John says:
Nov 14, 2012 at 05:46 am@Shoaib, lol! now that you have successfully convinced me that Prashadi is the dancing queen of Sri Lanka, is your next mission to try and convince me that its perfectly ok to lose my teeth for her?
Shoaib says:
Nov 14, 2012 at 06:57 amJohn – Have you seen her perform live? If not try & catch her next gig & trust me you will never be the same again. She will cast a spell over you (the good kind) with her graceful & mesmerizing performance & you will lose yourself in it. I’ll admit that I have not been the same since I saw her perform in August. Before August this year I had no clue about the music of BnS but after watching Prashadi perform to their song that evening I fell in love with that song & now I find myself to my own d
Natasha says:
Nov 14, 2012 at 08:10 am@Shoaib - Wow! I am speechless!!!
John says:
Nov 14, 2012 at 08:36 am@Shoaib, lol! dude you crack me up. I might as well kiss my teeth goodbye I guess now that you have begun your next mission. But seriously, that was a nice post and you must be the first person to get drawn into the music of BnS as a result of being drawn to the dancer who performed to their music. You humming Sinhala tunes these days after watching Prashadi perform and your sister's comment was hilarious.
Natasha says:
Nov 14, 2012 at 08:48 am@Shoaib - Mr. Hot shot, are you sure that it was only BnS's song that you fell in love with that evening? Tick, tock tick tock tick tock....We wait with bated breath for your answer my dear. I know that Bill Clinton is one of your heroes and he was a legend at giving evasive answers so don't try that fast one with the question I asked ok....
John says:
Nov 14, 2012 at 09:13 am@Natasha, lol! that was a great question and looking forward to Shoaib's answer (even though I think I know the answer to that question)
Shoaib says:
Nov 14, 2012 at 10:04 amNatasha - Here is my answer to you in a Southern US accent -: I want to say one thing to you and I want you to listen to me. I do not know what you are talking about and I do not understand the insinuation in your question. What I do know is that I need to go back to work for the millions of people in social media who depend on my social media crime fighting skills on a daily basis. Thank you!
Natasha says:
Nov 14, 2012 at 11:16 am@Shoaib - Haha you cheeky bugger! You got away with a Clintonian answer there. Common that's not fair Shoaib.....
John says:
Nov 15, 2012 at 03:28 am@Natasha, lol! I knew Shoaib would come out with a classic and answer your question without actually answering it.
Shoaib says:
Nov 15, 2012 at 06:18 amNatasha - You asked me a Ken Starr like question so it was fitting that I gave you a Clintonian answer. That's pretty fair I reckon.
Natasha says:
Nov 15, 2012 at 10:18 am@Shoaib - Not fair at all but I will keep trying until I get that answer from you. By the way do you think dancers in Sri Lanka get their due when performing with leading singers or are they just reduced to a sidekick act kind of thing while the singers get all the attention?
Shoaib says:
Nov 15, 2012 at 10:47 amNatasha – I can’t answer that question as I have not seen too many shows of SL singers performing backed up by dance troupes. But I can talk about the one such performance I did see (SLPL opening ceremony) & Prashadi’s performance with BnS. When that act was in full swing my eyes were focused on Parashadi because she stole the show with an intoxicating performance & I didn’t care much about BnS or Brian Lara or whoever the others that were on stage. At the end of that act BnS made it a point to
John says:
Nov 15, 2012 at 11:59 am@Shoaib, This is what I meant when I said earlier that words flow from you like the Niagara falls whenever you start to revere Prashadi.
Natasha says:
Nov 15, 2012 at 02:13 pm@Shoaib - See that is what I am talking about. That was an excellent observation. Tell me, exactly what about Prashadi's performance really impressed you the most?
Natasha says:
Nov 16, 2012 at 04:41 am@Shoaib - I meant to ask you this earlier. As a person who does not live in Sri Lanka and a guy who clearly has strong and interesting opinions about stuff how do you see the changes that has taken place in the Sri Lankan entertainment scene say in the last 5 to 10 years and in general the younger generation (I am talking about the late teens and very early 20's). Take as many parts as you want to answer this question and yes I am full of questions so deal with it without making some wicked rema
Shoaib says:
Nov 16, 2012 at 06:36 amNatasha – Haha yes, you and your questions. I definitely have to split up this answer. By the way I am set to travel for the next couple of weeks so this will be the last day I participate in this discussion. PART 1 - Not just the entertainment industry but I think so much has changed in Sri Lanka and its way of life in the last 10 years and that has inevitably influenced all aspects of Sri Lankan society and perhaps more so the entertainment industry. The funny thing is that I was in school in

Nov 16, 2012 at 06:39 amPART 3 - I think one of the big issues amongst most in the younger generation today is their diabolical need to ape anything & everything that is foreign. I think as an artist be it a musician, dancer, movie star or whatever your fundamental base should be your Sri Lankan identity and irrespective of the variations & improvisations that yo

Similarly if you take music, take the song “Man in the Mirror” or even the “Earth Song” by MJ or “Only God Knows Why” by Kid Rock. What profound lyrics were those. The demands of modern-day society are such that it does not give them the time to do this but they have to find the time for the sake of their kids. Nov 16, 2012 at 06:42 amPART 6 – Finally, what you have to keep in mind is that Sri Lanka is probably in the midst of what is likely to be its most significant economic expansion since independence. Now an inevitable after-effect of this economic expansion will be the implications of it on Sri Lankan society and way of life right down to the living room in your home. So the need for Sri Lankans to have that fundamental base rock solid has never been more important than it is right now. Otherwise this tidal way of econo

Nov 16, 2012 at 08:39 am@Shoaib - Super stuff, really enjoyed reading that couldn't agree more especially the identity crisis thingy as well. You still didn't answer my other question about what exactly impressed you the most about Prashadi's performance. Sorry for being a tad demanding.
John says:
Nov 16, 2012 at 08:59 amDude Shoaib, that was a great read. Excellent points as usual. Safe travels bro. I know how to get your attention if we don't see you in a couple of weeks. Just say something negative about Prashadi and her Dark Knight will make a thundering entrance and beat us all up faster than the speed of light.
Shoaib says:
Nov 16, 2012 at 02:49 pmNatasha- As for your question about what impressed me most about Prashadi’s act, well she has this incredible presence on stage & her movements are so aesthetically rich & so graceful & watching her dance to me was like admiring this magnificent work of art at the Louvre in Paris. When Prashadi comes on stage she absolutely owns you for the duration of her act & without your knowledge you are immersed in her performance. I don’t know her personally but I have enquired about her & also read up on
Natasha says:
Nov 17, 2012 at 05:38 am@Shoaib - Lovely! You really do have a way with words Mr. Jordan and it always sounds so beautiful when you get into that zone of praising Prashadi and I think that is because of your unbridled conviction in her. Just when I thought surely you cannot do better than you already have in terms of praising her and elevating her to the moon, you compare her to a "magnificent work of art at the Louvre in Paris". Shoaib, I don't know whether Prashadi in all her life (26 years plus) has received the kin
John says:
Nov 19, 2012 at 09:05 am@Natasha, I know Shoaib will eat my head off for saying this but Prashadi aka "dancing queen" should thank him for the one-man fight he battled for her here and won quite easily even converting the doubters like me. Look at the first comment I made here and the last few. One reason and one reason only for that and that is Shoaib's portrayal of Prashadi as this amazing dancer and woman.
Natasha says:
Nov 20, 2012 at 11:18 am@John - lol! Your right Shoaib would have had some good stuff to say to you but he is away so you have nothing to worry about. These days its hard to find amongst the special people in our lives those that will go out of their way to defend you and praise you to the heavens even 10% of the manner in which Shoaib did both for Prashadi. Lol! true the world of a difference between your first comment here about Prashadi and the others after Shoaib came along is in itself a great example of what Shoa
John says:
Nov 21, 2012 at 11:05 am@Natasha, after reading Shoaib latest comment about how watching Prashadi and her dancing to him was like staring at a magnificent work of art at the Louvre in Paris, I thought I must also say something so beautiful and profound to my fiancée. So last evening we went out for dinner and when we came home I told her that when I see her I feel like I am staring at a lovely painting at the Art gallery on green path here in Colombo and my fiancée threw a glass of water on my face and yelled at me say
Natasha says:
Nov 21, 2012 at 11:32 am@John, Lol!!! Sorry dear John. Shoaib's comments about Prashadi are original, genuine and you can sense its from the heart because that is 100% his take on her the woman and the dancer and that is why it comes out so beautifully. Shoaib is a natural when it comes to Praising Prashadi because he believes every word he says about her and that is why it also had an impact on me and made me respect her and admire her more than ever before and made you admire her too. All because we were bowled away
Shoaib says:
Nov 23, 2012 at 10:30 amJohn - Haha! sorry to hear of your predicament but mate what I did do? In fact for that comment you made to her you are lucky that it was the water and not the glass that came towards your face. What were you thinking? Surely you can do better than compare the woman you love to a work of art at the local art gallery in Colombo (no disrespect to the art or the artists) of all places in this planet.
Natasha says:
Nov 29, 2012 at 05:19 am@Shoaib - I asked you this in another comment I made but that was not posted for some strange reason. Anyways have you seen Rasuni of Channa's team perform?
Shoaib says:
Nov 29, 2012 at 11:37 amNatasha - No I have not seen her perform or at least the name does not ring a bell. I have seen Channa's team perform twice but I don't know any of the dancers by name except Aseka who I believe is his daughter. So what about this Rasuni?
John says:
Nov 30, 2012 at 08:29 am@Shoaib, dude, Rasuni is a fab dancer from Channa's troupe.
Natasha says:
Nov 30, 2012 at 09:25 am@Shoaib - Rasuni is probably the most popular dancer in Sri Lanka at the moment and is the lead act in most performances of Channa’s troupe. She is in blue in the first clip which is a group dance and the 2nd and 3rd clips are her solo acts with BnS and this guy called Randhir who is also a part of the BnS crew. Now Mr. hot shot can you please take Prashadi out of your mind for a moment and give us your opinion on Rasuni after watching the three clips below.

Shoaib says:
Dec 01, 2012 at 05:45 amHey Natasha, thanks for posting those clips. I will have a look when I get some time and revert back. Surely this is not some subtle attempt to convert me is it???
Natasha says:
Dec 01, 2012 at 08:40 amShoaib dear, lol! You can never say. But I am keen to know your thoughts about Rasuni and also how you compare her with Prashadi.
Shoaib says:
Dec 03, 2012 at 06:25 amNatasha – Rasuni is pretty & a very graceful dancer. Her technique is impeccable but you expect that from someone who learnt the craft from legends like Channa & Upuli. But she does not move me or captivate me with what she does on stage or would make me do things I’ve never done before like igniting my interest in Sinhala music & traditional SL dance, both of which happened after I watched Prashadi perform back in Aug. Prior to Aug I didn’t give a monkey’s bottom about BnS or their music but as
Natasha says:
Dec 03, 2012 at 07:57 am@Shoaib - I need some time to recover from that!!! That will be the first and last time anyone will complement Prashadi by comparing her to the most amazing and beautiful Champs-Élysées in Paris. Only you could have come up with that my dear!
Shoaib says:
Dec 03, 2012 at 08:05 amJohn – Mate, here is a bit of advice for you. After reading my comment above please for the love of god don’t even try to dish out a similar complement to your fiancée and get it horribly wrong (as your track record suggests) and then needlessly end up instigating her wrath because if you do the most likely headline we will read the next day on Sri Lankan newspapers will be something like this “Woman kills soon to be husband for comparing her to Galle Road”.
Natasha says:
Dec 03, 2012 at 08:24 am@Shoaib - OMG!!! You are absolutely out of your mind funny!!! My friends who read your advice to John were in fits of laughter as well.
@John - that was very good advice from Shoaib. Please take note.
John says:
Dec 04, 2012 at 08:54 am@Shoaib lol! bro you crack me up! Thanks for the advice. I was thinking to go with Marine Drive but you are right that would be like me signing my own death wish. So in your opinion there is not a single dancer in Sri Lanka who is better than Prashadi when it comes to the combination of talent, success, looks and so on. Is this correct?
Natasha says:
Dec 05, 2012 at 06:57 am@Shoaib - Mr. Michael Jordan, you are a very intelligent guy who is objective and has got strong opinions that you often back with well constructed and indisputable facts. But there must be something that even you can identify as negative in Prashadi. Is there and would you care to talk about it here?
Shoaib says:
Dec 05, 2012 at 08:23 amNatasha – PART 1 - I believe that one must address negatives only pertaining to themselves and when it comes to others focus as much as possible only on their positives. Unfortunately in life the opposite is what happens often. So when it comes to negatives I only focus on myself because only via regular and honest introspections of yourself could you improve on a daily basis whether in your chosen field or even as a person. Talking about the negatives of other people is an absolute waste of tim

Dec 05, 2012 at 08:24 amPART 2 - I never quite understood why Sri Lankans are so Bollywood obsessed. Here in the West, Bollywood is viewed as nothing more than a joke and personally I feel that the way over the top cheap melodrama that Bollywood dishes out is often an insult to one’s intelligence. I can’t for the life of me imagine how those in SL who watch these films can waste 3 hours of their time watching such rubbish. As I see it and as has been proved many times, 9 out of 10 Bollywood films that come out these da

Dec 05, 2012 at 08:24 amPART 3 – This is the trend in the Hindi film industry these days as they spend 90% of their time desperately copying Hollywood films and the other 10% of their time copying other language films that come from other parts of India. Sri Lankans must look to re-invent themselves and cater to the modern requirements without losing the essence of their Sri Lankan identity and originality. I think as a Sri Lankan artist be it a musician, dancer, movie star or whatever, your fundamental base should be

Dec 05, 2012 at 08:59 amJohn - Yes, in my opinion Prashadi is way ahead of all her peers especially when you take Prashadi the complete package & by that I mean, the amazing dancer, the beautiful woman, the remarkable success story, a teacher to something like 200 plus aspiring dancers in her own dance academy, owning & managing her very successful dance troupe & doing all of this despite not having the advantage of either her father, mother, brother or sister as an established entity in the SL entertainment industry l
Natasha says:
Dec 05, 2012 at 10:49 am@Shoaib - Great points and True our people are really obsessed with Hindi movies and I really don't know how that happened. I also agree that a lot of our actors, singers and dancers try to copy Indian stuff. When it comes to Sinhala commercial cinema it really is poor and they are the ones who really copy a lot of the Indian stuff which as you say already copied from Hollywood. But artistic films in Sinhala cinema are very good.
John says:
Dec 06, 2012 at 06:17 am@Shoaib, dude, can't argue with you about Prashadi because you make such a strong case for her but I still think there is one dancer of Channa's troupe that I am sure will make you change your mind. The clips below are from the local Sirasa Superstar Final of 2006 and the dancer who is the main act in all three songs of Bathiya and Santhush is the one I am talking about. She is in purple in the 1st Clip which is the same song you saw Prashadi perform to and in the 2nd clip she is the one in red

Dec 06, 2012 at 08:36 amJohn - Geez guys! What is with this tag team effort of yourself and Natasha to try and convert me. I feel like “operation convert Shoaib” is underway and is being lead by General John and Commanding General Natasha. You guys need to keep in mind that I am a Capricornian and Capricornians by nature are very stable, high achievers, hugely independent and most importantly deeply loyal, faithful, strong willed and rocklike characters. You will have to bring out all your WMDs to even stand a chance o

Dec 07, 2012 at 10:27 amJohn – Holy smokes man! Who in the world is that amazing drop dead gorgeous dancer and how come I have not seen her in the two times that I saw Channa’s troupe perform in the last couple of years. Is she no longer a part of Channa’s troupe? No disrespect but the current lead act in Channa’s troupe that Natasha talked about a few days back is absolutely no match at all to this girl in the 2006 event you posted. I mean when I was watching her perform in those three clips you posted I felt like the
John says:
Dec 08, 2012 at 06:38 am@Shoaib, I knew you would be impressed by her! The girl in those three clips I posted is the most beautiful dancer I have seen in Sri Lanka over the past 10 years and her dancing is fantastic. So dude now tell us how would you compare her to Prashadi?
Natasha says:
Dec 08, 2012 at 07:49 am@Shoaib - Well, well, well! I never thought I will see the day when Shoaib will shower lavish praise on any other dancer other than Prashadi. But I must say the lead dancer in all those 3 youtube clips is so beautiful and cute. So Monsieur Shoaib have we successfully began to convert you my dear? Also, I can't wait to hear from you about how you would compare this dancer with Prashadi. Now don't keep us waiting for too long and also don't try to do a fast one on us and avoid the question ok!

There is no question that the dancer in those clips John posted was sensational and breath-taking. But you can’t formulate an opinion of any substance beyond that simply based on what you see on a youtube clip. To truly appreciate an exponent of an

Let me check with some of my friends who knows some of the girls in Channa's troupe from school and so on about the dancer in those videos that John posted and I will send u a message on facebook. But I don't think she is anymore a part of the group though because I have seen C

Dec 11, 2012 at 05:20 am@Shoaib, dude a quick question; Were you interviewed on CNBC TV last evening on frontier economies? There was a Shoaib Mohamed from Goldman Sachs whom they interviewed and referred to as Sri Lankan born and I am pretty sure that was you. Found the interview very interesting.
Shoaib says:
Dec 11, 2012 at 07:04 amNatasha - I warned you about us Capricornians. We are deeply loyal, faithful, strong willed and rocklike characters that are impossible to break.
Shoaib says:
Dec 11, 2012 at 07:10 amJohn – Yep that was me. Didn’t know that you get CNBC in Sri Lanka. I guess you get it on cable or Sat networks? So did I convince you with my passionate endorsement of global frontier economies as the place to invest in the next 10 years?
John says:
Dec 11, 2012 at 09:16 am@Shoaib, Also dude one final question which I know might be a really stupid question but will ask anyway. You saw Prashadi perform to Rankurahan the BnS song you really liked mainly because of Prashadi's performance to it and now you have seen the clip I posted of that beautiful dancer in Channa's troupe peform to the same song. Which performance did you like more?
Natasha says:
Dec 12, 2012 at 06:48 am@John - That definitely had to be Shoaib that you saw on CNBC because I know he works for Goldman Sachs and Shoaib Mohamed is his full name.
@Shoaib - True Capricornians are very faithful and very loyal and give whatever they do 100%. But doesn't that high risk attitude also expose you to greater falls, dissappointments, failure and heart-ache than others who play it safe or who spend time in the middle or grey area?
John says:
Dec 13, 2012 at 05:04 amI am not sure what's happening to my comments here but some of which I posted yesterday never saw the light of day. Anyways Shoaib so was that you on CNBC the other day? Also, just taking one performance vs. another performance which Rankurhan (the song to which you saw Prashadi perform to) performance did you think was better? The dancer in the youtube clip I posted or Prashadi's performance that you saw live?
Natasha says:
Dec 13, 2012 at 06:04 am@Shoaib - One thing I notice about you is that you don't hold back once you are convinced about someone or something and I feel you one of those guys who believes in giving anything you do or say everything you have got. But isn't that a high risk option which can expose you to have a big fall or get hurt and stuff? Isn't it better and safer to to tread that middle line or path and live life in that grey area? I sometimes think that's a better option.
John says:
Dec 13, 2012 at 08:52 am@Shoaib, dude you converted and convinced me about Prashadi. Take a look at my first post here about Prashadi and the subsequent posts I have made about her. If you can convince me about Prashadi then you can convince me about anything easily. Learnt a lot from your interview. Very impressive!

Dec 13, 2012 at 10:20 amNatasha – When I read your comment above I was reminded of one of my favourite quotes which goes like this "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat". I think you understand what that means & I aspire to live by this philosophy. I don’t believe in an area called a grey area. You talk about a m

Dec 13, 2012 at 11:11 am@Shoaib - Lovely read that was as always Mr. Jordan! Makes a lot of sense. I love the very polite way you apologise in advance before saying something harsh. Cheeky! Excellent points though!
Shoaib says:
Dec 13, 2012 at 11:30 amJohn – As for your question about which dance performance of the BnS song that I prefer more, the dancer in the clip you posted or Prashadi’s that I saw live back in Aug, let me answer your question in a way that never again in a million years will you have any doubt about my thinking on this. Forget Channa’s dancers or any other Sri Lankan dancer. Let me put it to you this way. Even if say a scantily clad Marilyn Monroe (at her best) or for that matter say Beyonce or Shakira were to perform to

John says:
Dec 14, 2012 at 03:06 am@Shoaib, damn dude! Message received nice and clear. I think I dug my own grave there.
Shoaib says:
Dec 14, 2012 at 09:12 amJohn - All I did right through this discussion was to state my case to do with Prashadi of which I'm certain. To think I did all that and may I say, not in a shy way, "Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way"
John says:
Dec 15, 2012 at 05:57 am@Shoaib, hehe indeed you did. You had to mention Prashadi in the lyrics of one of the greatest songs ever written didn't you? Somehow it fits perfectly. Now I am not trying to convert you as I know that is certainly not possible ever. This is just for your viewing pleasure. The clip below features the same dancer I posted in those 3 clips earlier. She is in yellow and is the main act in this performance to a BnS song. The quality of this clip is great and I think this is more recent maybe from 2

Dec 17, 2012 at 10:57 am@Shoaib - Loved your comment on your facebook page about the Connecticut shooting incident last Friday. So true what you have said. America needs to get its own house in order before meddling with everything and anything going on in other parts of the world.
@John - Nice video! Channa's dancers are superb! But if Marilyn Monroe, Beyonce and Shakira can't change Shoaib's mind about Prashadi then no on can. Still I think Shoaib will like the performance of the dancer in yellow in the c

Dec 18, 2012 at 10:35 amJohn - Thanks for posting that clip of which the quality was great and made the viewing that much better. As for the dancer, the lead act in that performance, as I said before she is absolutely gorgeous. I think over and above her looks she has got very cute expressions and I also love her energy and it goes without saying that she is a terrific dancer. You expect the "terrific dancer" part from those that have learnt the craft from legends like Channa and Upuli. I would have loved to see her pe
John says:
Dec 19, 2012 at 03:31 am@Shoaib, hmmmm so clearly you are impressed with the dancer in yellow in the clip I posted of the BnS song. But still you refuse to acknowledge her in comparison to Prashadi. How come?
Natasha says:
Dec 19, 2012 at 08:58 amLol! John is still trying. Not sure whether you will be successfull.
Shoaib says:
Dec 19, 2012 at 09:19 amJohn – The reason for that is simple. As I see it there is Prashadi right at the top and then there is everyone else. In my eyes, Prashadi is beyond comparison and just in case my eyes are wrong then I don’t want to be right.
Natasha says:
Dec 19, 2012 at 10:27 am@Shoaib - OMG! How beautiful and charming. Now that's the kind of thing any woman would love to hear.

Dec 20, 2012 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - LOL!!!! That was one of the funniest posts I have ever read. At least I got you to admit what I always knew. Hehehe! So Wall Street Dancing Queen. That is a powerful combination! I'll tell you this much though somewhere in between all the crazy humour in that post me thinks are some true feelings too!!! That's right I said it!
Natasha says:
Dec 20, 2012 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - OMG!!! You mad hatter (I mean that in the nicest way because you are so bloody funny) That was fricking hilarious Shoaib!.I don't know how you come up with such crazy funny stuff. The story sounded like an epic love story!
John says:
Dec 20, 2012 at 06:28 am@Shoaib, "if my eyes are wrong then I don't want to be right" hmmmm Now I will think of a way to use that line with my fiancee. Don't worry I won't mess this one up. But Shoaib I have to say one thing and don't go all Mohammed Ali on me for that. The kind of thing that you have said in your last comment is what is usually said by someone about a person that they are in love with. I am not insinuating anything here. Just saying what I think most people will agree. What have you got to say about t

Dec 26, 2012 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Your name-sake and Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akther was called the Rawalpindi Express! What about you? Any names like that?
Shoaib says:
Dec 27, 2012 at 12:00 amJohn - Nope no name like that as yet. Why do you have something in mind? I get the feeling that you are itching to call me something like the "Maharagama Express"
Natasha says:
Dec 27, 2012 at 12:00 amOh Shoaib (the lover not a fighter) you have an answer for everything. I bet you have never been lost for words.
John says:
Dec 27, 2012 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, LOL!!! Damn man you read my mind. I was going to call you exactly that because the dancing queen that you so revere is from Maharagama.
John says:
Dec 27, 2012 at 12:00 amDude Shoaib, Now I know that you saw Prashadi perform in August and the whole world knows now how you were blown away by her and how she is incomparable to you and so on. But have you ever heard her speak? I doubt it. They say that they way a person speaks carries themselves tells you a lot about the person. Remember sometime back I told you of a talk show that I heard Prashadi was a guest on along with several others (singers, TV actors etc, etc). Watch from 2.55 onwards in the clip below. Only
Shoaib says:
Dec 28, 2012 at 12:00 amNatasha – Lost for words? Hmmm well I must say that seldom do I get lost for words. The last time I froze and became speechless was on August the 10th 2012. It was a typically sticky and murky evening in Colombo and I was invited to attend an event (The Sri Lankan Premier League Opening Ceremony) that evening which to be honest I was not that keen to go for but still did due to the insistence of some of my mates who’s families were stake holders of one of the teams. One thing I hate about events
John says:
Dec 28, 2012 at 12:00 amShoaib, oh man! I am speechless after reading that last comment of yours.
Natasha says:
Dec 28, 2012 at 12:00 amShoaib - WOW! I love reading your comments about Prashadi. They are always so beautiful.
Shoaib says:
Dec 29, 2012 at 12:00 amJohn - Thanks for posting that clip. Nope I have never heard Prashadi speak, interview or otherwise. Will check it out. Also, if you come across any clips where she is interviewed in English pass me the link please. I’d like to see as to how she comes across when in a conversation in English.
Natasha says:
Dec 30, 2012 at 12:00 am@John is that the talk show during which you said no one called in to speak to Prashadi and you used that to prove to Shoaib (unsuccessfully lol!) that she really is not very popular or known in the Country? Not sure what Shoaib made of Prashadi after listening to her speak. But then again In Shoaib's eyes Prashadi can do no wrong. I totally agree with John that the way a person speaks and carries themselves tells you a lot about the person. @Shoaib here is something because of your unassuming
John says:
Dec 31, 2012 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, dude I doubt you will ever find a clip of Prashadi speaking in English. Even the one I posted were clips of the show she was a part of and not anything to do with her per say. The local entertainment industry is basically the Sinhala entertainment industry and few in the industry if any will be proficient or fluent English speakers. If you want to know how she comes across when in a conversation in English the only way to find that out is when you bump into her next. @Natasha, true gi

Dec 31, 2012 at 12:00 amNatasha - I see that you are putting that Hons Degree you have in Economics and Statistics from the London School of Economics to good use by doing a statistical analysis of Prashadi's facebook page. Marvellous! Your parents will be very proud. Sent from my ipad
Natasha says:
Dec 31, 2012 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Haha very funny you cheeky one!

Natasha says:
Jan 02, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - So hot shot what did you think of your dancing queen's hot tea story in that video John posted? lol!
Shoaib says:
Jan 03, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – She has got a beautiful smile and smiles with her eyes too. Something tells me that the scary guy she spotted loitering rather suspiciously outside her home that caused her and her cousins to panic and Prashadi to end up with a tea bath was none other than Dr. John himself. What da ya think? Common John, it's time to come clean.
Natasha says:
Jan 03, 2013 at 12:00 amLol!!! Dr. John has been up to no good it seems.
John says:
Jan 03, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, lol! dude, you crack me up. By the way all Natasha asked you was what you thought about your dancing queen's hot tea story. She didn't ask you what you thought about the way she looked or her smile or her eyes or anything like that and still you begin by talking about her smile. Is it at all possible for you to make one comment about Prashadi without complementing her? I highly doubt it dude.
Natasha says:
Jan 03, 2013 at 12:00 am@John - Haha. Never a dull moment when the two of you get your banter up to full speed.
Shoaib says:
Jan 03, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – Geez man! When someone deserves to be complemented (like Prashadi is) what’s the harm in doing so at every given opportunity. If complementing Prashadi is a crime then I am happy to be a criminal and continue committing that crime till kingdom come.
Natasha says:
Jan 04, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - OMG! I know you are a good boy and a teetotaller and therefore forgive me for using an alcohol related analogy but I must say that like a fine bottle of wine your comments about Prashadi gets better and better with each passing day.
John says:
Jan 04, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, man oh man what can I say? Let me tell you this one last time. Yes, you have convinced me about Prashadi and her standing in Sri Lankan dance and I admit that my views about her has done a U-Turn since you came along and elevated her to the heavens. I admit that she deserves the tag of "dancing queen of Sri Lanka". This is again something that you convinced me about. But there is something that you have not convinced me about and won't either and that is that all the amazing lovely thin

Shoaib says:
Jan 07, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – Well I did post a comment or two on Prashadi’s facebook page after I saw her perform in Aug last year and that was just to congratulate her and let her know how spectacular her performance was and so on. More recently I posted a comment on her facebook page primarily to ask whether she could give a heads up on her upcoming gigs so that those of us who are keen to see her perform live could catch one of her forthcoming performances. That’s about it really and also I would never post the

Natasha says:
Jan 07, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - You always say the most profound and beautiful things about Prashadi and it comes out so beautifully because it is clear to anyone that you believe what you say 100%. But how come you don't make such comments on her Facebook page? Wouldn't it be great for her and for people who actually know her and like her to have the pleasure of reading such lovely things about her in a platform like Facebook where they all converge?
John says:
Jan 07, 2013 at 12:00 am@Eranga, I don't have to visit her studio for that because Shoaib has already convinced me and converted me about everything to do with Prashadi with the amazing manner in which he has portrayed her.
Shoaib says:
Jan 07, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - My reply to your last comment for some reason has got posted above your last comment. Not sure why. Perhaps Life needs to sort out this glitch as it really does mess up the flow of the discussion. Good to see this new format but there are too many bugs that need to be sorted out.
Natasha says:
Jan 07, 2013 at 12:00 amOMG! What in the world is going on here? Why is Shoaib's answer to my last post above mine? Humble request to the guys at Life, Please guys when posting our comments try to not mess up the order and please rectify what I highlighted above. Thanks.
Natasha says:
Jan 07, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - So considerate, so charming and such a passionate admirer and endorser of Prashadi. John please read Shoaib's last comment and take notes. That is the hallmark of a gentlemen.
Shoaib says:
Jan 07, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - Who knows with John. He is probably digging something up from the archives as I write.
John says:
Jan 08, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, man saw your Bloomberg interview today and you were on fire! Working even while on holiday? When the topic went from South Asian frontier economies to the Delhi gang rape incident and you lambasted Indians especially the Bollywood industry for their hypocrisy the Indian film director who was the other person being interviewed along with you was fuming but he had no response to you. That was hilarious lol! I knew what you were doing Shoaib. You were trying to get under his skin and get t
Natasha says:
Jan 08, 2013 at 12:00 am@John - shoot I missed it! But I do know Shoaib's views on the gang rape case and fully agree with him. The way Indian movies project women is appalling and as Shoaib says to see people in that industry coming out to get some publicity mileage out of such a tragic incident by trying to portray themselves as those fighting to protect the women of India is hypocritical and a joke.
John says:
Jan 08, 2013 at 12:00 am@Natasha, Yes, I saw Shoaib’s comment to your question about posting comments on Prashadi’s facebook page. Not many people think like him these days. @Shoaib, on the subject of digging up things from the archives I found a classic and you have to see this. Lol! The clip below shows your dancing queen in a Sinhala music video. Now the way she looks in this music video is more or less her real raw look. Now I want you to forget about the woman you saw perform at the Sri Lanka Cricket event last
Natasha says:
Jan 08, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Dr. John still trying very hard to change Shoaib's strong opinions about Prashadi. Although I must say this time you may have presented something that might corner Shoaib. But I have never seen anyone who can come out of a difficult corner as easily as Shoaib does. Having said that this is a response I am certainly looking forward to. As cheeky as he is I expect a typical Shoaib answer to throw you off lol!

Jan 08, 2013 at 12:00 amanyway my dear friends i know about prashadi very well..there's no wrong in crowing her as the Queen of dancing in Sri lanka. because she deserves it than anyone else..She has achieved many things not only locally but also across the world.Well,if u can came up with a name of any one,who has performed in Formula one race so far in Sri lanka? No one but prashadi..And she made it along with her amazing trope..and she has a unique dancing style which is second to non, like kandyan, indian, latin, arabic
Shoaib says:
Jan 09, 2013 at 12:00 amJohnny - Firstly, the direction of that music video was comical and embarrassingly poor and that is me putting it mildly. As for your question, I’m afraid I cannot answer that question John and that is because the hypothetical scenario (“if she walked passed me on the streets of Colombo”) is one that I hardly encounter as when I am in CMB whatever the little bit of walking I do is spent with me paying a great deal of attention to making sure that I don't step into a pot hole or something instead
Natasha says:
Jan 09, 2013 at 12:00 amOuch!!! Poor John knocked out again by Shoaib! lol! You asked for that.......
Natasha says:
Jan 09, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - looks you as batman or the Dark Knight has found your Robin (Eranga) loll! Not that you need a Robin cause as you have shown here you are a one man army who defended Prashadi like no one else could or would and took everyone on and is the last man standing with poor John once again kissing the mat. lol!
Natasha says:
Jan 09, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - You cheeky fella don't think I didn't notice how you cleverly avoided answering John's question. lol!
John says:
Jan 09, 2013 at 12:00 am@Natasha, hehe, what can I say other than the fact that I guess I have made it a habit of digging my own grave when it comes to trying to change Shoaib’s mind about Prashadi. But dude Shoaib you have to answer one thing for me. Before August last year you didn’t even know that someone by the name of Prashadi Ranasinghe existed. You certainly did know about Channa and Upuli and their dance troupe but nothing at all about Prashadi. Given that, what made you go on an all out defense, support and re

Jan 09, 2013 at 12:00 amJohnny – You have already answered that question in the second last sentence of your comment above. When this article was published, every single comment that was being made or almost all of it were extremely unfair on Prashadi and were laden with personal attacks and so on and no one stepped in to defend her and support her and that is why I got involved because she is a terrific dancer and in my eyes what I consider even greater is the fact that she is a remarkable self-made woman that I admir
John says:
Jan 09, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Man I told you once before that you make us simple guys look bad. Every time my fiancée reads your beautiful and poetic comments about Prashadi she gives me this look, which translates to something like “I wish you would feel and say things like that about me” So bro, would it be fair to say that you have now just about given it everything that you possibly can to defend, support and express your admiration of Prashadi?
Shoaib says:
Jan 09, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – Imagine me answering your question above with a husky voice and a mask on my face. My answer to you would be -: "Not everything, not yet"

John says:
Jan 10, 2013 at 12:00 am@Eranga, when I first read this article and then made my first comment I had a very low opinion about Prashadi. The one and the only reason that low opinion changed and today I have come to the point where I actually respect her is not because she performed at an F1 event or any of the other things that you have said in your last comment. My entire opinion about Prashadi took a U-Turn for the better because of the profound, in-depth, real, compelling and indisputable manner in which Shoaib defen

Jan 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Eranga - We really don't need to look at any of those YouTube clips because Shoaib has already given us a beautiful personal account of Prashadi' s performance at the SLPL opening ceremony which he witnessed at the venue. For heaven's sake he referred to Prashadi's performance to a magnificent work of art at the Louvre in Paris. Prashadi will never get a better compliment than that.
Natasha says:
Jan 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - lol! Please Shoaib, spare poor John this one time will you now?
Shoaib says:
Jan 11, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha Johnny! I’ll let you have this one. In any case my job here is done. Time to move on. But make no mistake that When the rain is blowing in Prashadi’s face and the whole word is on her case, I’ll be back to fight her case and put a smile on her face…….
Natasha says:
Jan 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - OMG! I guess you can take any song and find a way to make it be about Prashadi. That is like the 4th or 5th classic song that you have tweaked / re-written here and there to make it be about Prashadi and you still say all you have for her is just admiration only? Yeah right!
John says:
Jan 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, I Agree with Natasha. Shoaib may have convinced me about Prashadi and her standing in Sri Lankan dance. But there is something that he did not convince me and won't either and that is that all the amazing and lovely things he said about her was only because of his admiration for her. I guess we will never know the answer to that.
Natasha says:
Jan 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Common hot shot you only re-wrote one verse of that lovely song for Prashadi. After all that you have said you have to do at least one more verse before you get on that batmobile and drive away.
Natasha says:
Jan 12, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Here is a question slightly off topic but in relation to the verse of that song that you tweaked for your dancing queen in your last comment. So many artists have done cover versions of that song. Which one is your favourite version? My bf prefers Adele's version. I think Adele's version sucks!
Shoaib says:
Jan 15, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – My favourite version hmmmm….Well, firstly I have to say that I have been a fan of Billy Joel’s music since forever. I was 2 years-old when his iconic hit “Uptown girl” was released in 1983. According to my mum, I use to go crazy even as a 2 year-old whenever I heard that song. However, as far this particular song goes, that is “To make you feel my love” I have to go with the Garth Brooks version as my favourite simply because I am a fanatical piano player and the Garth Brooks version i

Jan 15, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Ok now I know that you will eat my head off for this comment but I have to say it and also ask you one last question that you have to answer please before you leave. Dude, here is what puzzles me. Natasha and I both know you and your background, what you do for a living etc, etc. So on paper a guy like you even knowing of the existence of a simple girl like Prashadi in Sri Lanka is surprising to say the least. As talented as she is, the reality is that even by Sri Lankan standards she

John says:
Jan 15, 2013 at 12:00 am@Natasha, why? what did I say wrong now?
Natasha says:
Jan 15, 2013 at 12:00 am@John - Fasten your seat belt as you will find out very soon. lol! I just have to say that Shoaib never made Prashadi look like some Superstar. People that Shoaib considers as Superstars are those that you will see only once in a life time like his hero Michael Jordan. He already said that in one of his previous comments.
Shoaib says:
Jan 15, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – There are in excess of 225 comments made here and most likely 150 of those are mine and I suggest you read each and every one of them in the future when you have any questions or doubts about my thinking to do with Prashadi because answers to all your questions (past, present and future) I am sure you will definitely find in one of my comments that I have made here already. FOR ONE FINAL TIME though I am going to address what you have brought up in your last comment. For starters, I never

Jan 15, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - That would be game, set and match to Shoaib!!! Wow! I have no superlatives left to explain just how beautiful, real and profound the stuff you say about Prashadi always is. She is never ever again going to hear stuff like this said about her or written about her by anyone else cause to do so not only must one have an incredibly superior command of the English language as you do but they must also have an unbridled conviction that you have about her. It is the combination of those two fa

Jan 15, 2013 at 12:00 amThanks Shoaib. It's all crystal clear to me now. I take my hat off to you sir in total respect!
Natasha says:
Jan 16, 2013 at 12:00 am@John - I am pretty sure you will have no further questions for Shoaib. lol!
John says:
Jan 16, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Crystal clear I am now. I take my hat off to you sir! Total respect!
John says:
Jan 16, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, dude surely you can't leave without a proper ending and some parting words for your dancing queen?
Shoaib says:
Jan 16, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - A proper ending and some parting words for Prashadi?. Hmmmm. What kind of an ending do you want? A melodramatic over the top Bollywoodesque ending or a classy and typical Shoaib Mohamed finale? I’ll give you the melodramatic Bollywood kind of ending first. It’s basically the climax of a 15 hour Bollywood movie aptly titled “Dancing Queen”. You play the antagonist and obviously I play the role of the lead protagonist. Because I am a nice guy I will give Natasha a cameo performance in the m
John says:
Jan 16, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, LOL!!!!!!!!!! You are fricking crazy dude! That was hilarious!!!!!
Natasha says:
Jan 16, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - You really need to stop doing this to me. My stomach hurts as a result of laughing so much after reading your "Bollywood ending". lol! How do you come up with such mad, mad funny stuff like that? OMG! Thanks for being so generous in giving me the damsel in distress part lol!!!
Natasha says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 amYo Shoaib! Can you tell us exactly what you wanted John to convey to your dancing queen just before your on-screen death?
@Natasha says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Everyone to whom I showed your bollywood ending to this topic has been in fits of laughter. That was some really funny stuff. Kleenex in bulk lol!
Shoaib says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - if you want to know what I was about to ask John to convey to Prashadi you will have no choice but to wait for the sequel titled "The Dancing Queen Rises" which is at pre-production stage now and is slated for a summer 2014 world-wide release. The sequel will begin with me actually not dead but in hospital and doctors’ fighting to save my life. Right at the moment the scene will shift to the dancing queen’s dance academy where she will be seen making a huge decision and that being to h
John says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Can't wait for the sequel!
Natasha says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - looks like the sequel will be an epic movie with your dancing queen set to become Lara Croft and I am pretty sure in your eyes she will look even better than Angelina Jolie.
John says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, So dude now we have seen the Bollywood ending but what about that classy Shoaib Mohamed ending and parting words for your dancing queen and this topic?
Shoaib says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - I am sorry but Angelina who???
John says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Lol!
Natasha says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - haha I am not surprised!
Shoaib says:
Jan 17, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - A typical, classy Shoaib Mohamed finale and final words for Prashadi with a little bit of help from a bloke by the name of Elton John would be something like this -: "I know it's not much but it's the best I can do My gift are my words and those were for you I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is cause Prashadi is in the world"
Natasha says:
Jan 18, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Wow! Now that's what you call the perfect ending. I've lost track of the number of classic songs that you have tweaked and changed for Prashadi and you always picked the most appropriate songs to do so. But this one is absolutely perfect. It really is!
John says:
Jan 22, 2013 at 12:00 amYou know what? I am sorry but I am still not convinced that Prashadi deserved the kind of magical picture of her that Shoaib portrayed here and dude Shoaib that has nothing to do with you or what you said because as I said before many times you did a stellar job and really presented a compelling and iron-clad case to defend her and project her as the dancing queen that this article claims she is. But she is no way the first choice of BnS. I would like someone to post one clip of her performing t
Natasha says:
Jan 23, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! John you are lucky that Superman Shoaib has left the building.....
John says:
Jan 23, 2013 at 12:00 amOh he will come back Natasha because as you know as well I as do, our Superman Shoaib's Kryptonite is Prashadi.
Natasha says:
Jan 23, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha! But I think there is a storm coming.......
Shoaib says:
Jan 24, 2013 at 12:00 amThis message is for JOHN from Master Shoaib -: Master Shoaib believes that underwear was always designed to be worn 'under' your clothes and not over them and therefore he politely requests to stop making Superman references to him which he finds insulting and disturbing. Master Shoaib also advices John to seriously consider taking up the suggestion made by a person by the name of Eranga (in one of his previous comments here) about visiting Prashadi’s Dance Academy so that once and for all, the
Natasha says:
Jan 24, 2013 at 12:00 amLol!!!!!!! That was a hilarious read! Thanks Alfred! lol! Even when communicating through Alfred, our dark knight Shoaib does not miss out on an opportunity to shower his dancing queen with the most beautiful complements!
John says:
Jan 24, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib – lol dude. You are absolutely hilarious dude. Love your sense of humour. I think I might need more than one bullet proof vest to face my fiancée after saying to Prashadi and her parents what you have asked me to say to them lol! But dude, those words that you have asked me to say to Prashadi and her parents would be perfect and mean that much more ONLY if it came from you because whatever it is that you say about your dancing queen always comes from the heart and always sounds so beauti
Natasha says:
Jan 26, 2013 at 12:00 amGood suggestion John but I don't think we will get a response from Shoaib for that or will we? Tick tock tick tock......
John says:
Jan 28, 2013 at 12:00 amNats girl you have made my day! Give your mum a high five from me as she has got it absolutely spot on with her assesement. See Shoaib this is what I have been telling you all along.
Natasha says:
Jan 28, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Well, well, well good to see you post on Prashadi's Facebook page Shoaib. Now don't flatter yourself ok as I am not cyber stalking you! Anyways you should post more often on her FB page because as I said to you once before people who know her and also like her will enjoy reading the lovely things you say about her always. My mum was reading all your comments here over the weekend and she said the one striking aspect in every comment you have made right from the 1st one to the last one
Shoaib says:
Jan 28, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – When I read your comment above I almost gave myself a hot caramel latte (with a hint of Tahitian vanilla) bath. Thanks for that (or not!) cause the next time I run into your mum she is going to grill me for answers on why I said what and blah, blah, blah to the point where at the end of that interrogation I might actually think of Guantanamo Bay as Disneyland!
Natasha says:
Jan 29, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Oh she will hot shot. Don't worry about that. By the way you still didn't respond to John's suggestion. Is this another typical Shoaib Mohamed avoiding the question moment.......
Shoaib says:
Jan 29, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha look at John all excited that another person agrees with him. By the way John, in case you already did not know (or are pretending to not know) BnS it seems had a concert over the weekend (supposedly their biggest ever, to-date) and the incredibly gorgeous and brilliant dancer who gave life to their songs with yet another heart stopping performance was none other than Prashadi herself. For the record and in my humble opinion, Prashadi does not need the validation of BnS or anyone else in or
John says:
Jan 29, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib Wow! What can I say boss, the harder I try the harder I fall I guess. I simply cannot win against you on this matter. I stand corrected again by you. I really do wish that one day I too can communicate / express myself as well as you do dude! You are just in a class of your own in that respect. So all of that you wrote above was again just because of your admiration for Prashadi I guess. That is what you want us to believe I suppose. Api konde bandala na harida......
Natasha says:
Jan 29, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Poor John! Ok Shoaib here is a question for you. So now that you know the meaning of the Rankurahan song can you tell us whether last August, Prashadiwa Dakka gaman sitha salunada?
Shoaib says:
Jan 29, 2013 at 12:00 amHmmmm now babe that is a question that deserves an answer in a perfect setting. The sun should be shinning, the birds should be singing and the flowers should be growing whilst I answer that question. Let me check on a good nakath day and then figure out an auspicious time to answer that question and when I do, you will most certainly have my answer.
Natasha says:
Jan 29, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib!!!!! You are impossible! The sun is shining here for us at least and the birds are always singing here or we can use sound effects for that lol! You want to find a Nakath day and an auspicious time to answer my question is it? Mage kata awussana epa ok!
John says:
Jan 30, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, dude I have to admit as Nats's mum observed your consistency and your faithfulness when it comes to Prashadi and everything to do with her has been amazing in every single comment you have made here. Over and above that you obviously do your homework on the topic of discussion and you are a master at presenting an iron clad case. That is why its so hard to counter what you say dude! I've even seen that even in your interviews on CNBC and Bloomberg when at times 3 or even 4 news anchors
John says:
Jan 30, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!
Natasha says:
Jan 30, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib!!! You are impossible!!! The sun is always shining over here for us at least and we can get the birds to sing with the help of some sound effects lol! We can also make the flowers to grow with the help of CG. You need to find a Nakath day and an auspicious time to answer my question is it? Mage kata awussana epa ok Mr. Jordan.
Shoaib says:
Jan 30, 2013 at 12:00 amHmmm I see that the order of the comments have gone haywire. Anyways John, in response to your previous comment, I must say that I have never been one to be swayed or influenced by popular public opinion nor have I ever really bothered as to whether others agreed with my point of view or not. The way I see it, if you strongly believe in someone or something and can back it up with credible facts then it does not matter whether the world agrees with you or not and if need be you can even take the
Natasha says:
Jan 30, 2013 at 12:00 amGreat points as usual Shoaib. But people often always prefer to take the easy and popular way out and the easy and popular way out is to conform. That is why I said it so many times that what you have done for Prashadi here is remarkable because in this day and age it is hard to expect even someone who is close to us to go all out like that and defend and support us and give us a profile boost of a lifetime.
John says:
Jan 30, 2013 at 12:00 am@ Shoaib, hear hear dude! Very well said. But dude what you have to keep in mind is that to be that way you have to be extremely confident, secure, fearless and mentally very strong all which obviously you are. But most people simply subscribe to popular opinion because it is the safer option. Even when you read the comments that were made after this article came up no one other than you went out of their way to stand up for Prashadi or support her or praise her to the heavens. If you look at th
Natasha says:
Jan 30, 2013 at 12:00 amYo Shoaib, answer this question now don't say you don't understand cause I know you are a fluent French speaker. Sont-vous amoureuse de Prashadi?
John says:
Jan 31, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Natasha giving it a go in another language to get some answers from Shoaib! Damn even if he responds I won't know what he said as I don't speak French.
Shoaib says:
Jan 31, 2013 at 12:00 amJust for the effort Natasha is making I am going to make an exception this one time and give her an answer. Here goes -: Avant août 2012 je n'ai pas su qui Prashadi était. Aujourd'hui, Prashadi est le seul que je veux connaître.
Natasha says:
Jan 31, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Wow!!! Even more charming in French! Thank you although you didn't directly answer my question. But I get the picture.
John says:
Jan 31, 2013 at 12:00 amDamn you! the both of you! I have no idea as to what Shoaib said. Nats can you fill me in? Also, Shoaib, some of my dancer friends (from a very, very popular dance troupe) who were reading your comments here wanted me to to show you clips of some of their performances which they thought you might really like.
Natasha says:
Jan 31, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! John, We don't have to be rocket scientists to figure which very, very popular dance troupe your dancer friends belong to.
Shoaib says:
Jan 31, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - Convey my best to your dancer friends and I am sure they must be very talented in their craft. Apologies in advance for saying this but I don’t want you to waste your time posting those clips for me and I certainly don’t want to waste my time watching them either. As far as I am concerned my interest in Sri Lankan dance began last August with Prashadi, remains only with Prashadi and it will end also with Prashadi.
John says:
Jan 31, 2013 at 12:00 amMan or man!!! I don't know what to say dude! I am lost for words.
Natasha says:
Jan 31, 2013 at 12:00 amI just love the way Shoaib is always so polite and even apologises in advance before he thumps you to the ground John! lol!
John says:
Feb 01, 2013 at 12:00 am@Natasha, and you would think that by now I would have learnt my lesson already. But...............
Natasha says:
Feb 01, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - See what you have done to poor John. He is in a state of shock lol!
Shoaib says:
Feb 01, 2013 at 12:00 amIf I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility; 10 out of 10 times I will choose honest arrogance. John knows well that I speak my mind but always mean well. Even if he had tried to show me a clip of Alina Cojocaru dancing I would have said thank you but no thank you.
John says:
Feb 02, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, "Honest arrogance vs. Hypocritcal humility" Absolutely love that line Shoaib. I must honestly admit that while going back and forth here has been great fun it has also been very educational for me thanks to you. But dude the time has come now for you to think about making that trip to Maharagama.
Natasha says:
Feb 02, 2013 at 12:00 amOMG John, I don't know whether you know who Alina Cojocaru is but if you do you will never again even think about showing clips of other dancers to Shoaib lol!
Shoaib says:
Feb 02, 2013 at 12:00 amThanks for reminding me John. Yes, I have wanted to visit the cancer hospital in Maharagama for a long time. I will mark this as top priority in my "to do" list. Appreciate your kindness and most importantly your noble intensions in reminding me of this long overdue visit to Maharagama.
Natasha says:
Feb 04, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Never a dull moment with the banter that goes on between the two of you. John, Shoaib is a genius at distracting and then avoiding an issue that he does not want to address and his response above to you is a classic example of that. lol!
John says:
Feb 04, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! dude Shoaib, please do pay a visit to the cancer hospital in Maharagama but both you and I know that when I said its time for you to think about making the trip to Maharagama I was not talking about visiting the cancer hospital. How you turned that around to lead my comment into a completely differeent direction was crafty. Well played as usual!
Natasha says:
Feb 04, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib, as Maharagama was mentioned I'd like to know your take on the news that has been in the local weekend papers and has been going on for a while which is that some small groups amongst us Sinhalese have been targeting the Muslims in the Country with various protests (small and insignificant) and campaigns. Very recently there was this protest by a small group outside the No Limit retail clothing store in Maharagama with the protestors wanting the shop to be removed from Maharagama which is

Feb 05, 2013 at 12:00 amTo whoever it is that is posting our comments at LIFE - Please don't make ridiculous chops to posts we make. My earlier response to Natasha was – "I pity the man who marries you because being married to you would be like being in a life-long episode of Q
Natasha says:
Feb 05, 2013 at 12:00 amWhat the hell is going on here??? Hahaha was not the only thing I said in my previous comment.
John says:
Feb 05, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, I agree with Nats and look forward to reading your views on what she had mentioned dude.
Shoaib says:
Feb 05, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – In my opinion, extremism has become a fashion of sorts around the world today and most if not all of it is politically motivated by a small group of people purely in order to further their own selfish agendas and it is by no means the views or an accurate representation of the broader community, race, or religion they belong to. Also, post 9/11, Islamophobia took the world by storm and not even a neutral peace-loving nation like Switzerland was spared. Far-right political parties like
Natasha says:
Feb 05, 2013 at 12:00 amWow!!! That was a great, great read Shoaib. Totally agree with you. I really do enjoy reading your views on various issues and this was really fantastic and I am going to share it with all my friends as well.
John says:
Feb 05, 2013 at 12:00 amDude Shoaib that was epic and very interesting as usual. And dude as usual you somehow managed to bring Prashadi into the mix of that comment as well towards the end. Its amazing how you do it. When I was reading through your comment I thought to myself ok finally here is a comment from Shoaib with nothing mentioned about Prashadi and there it was an entire section about her right at the end.
Natasha says:
Feb 05, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! John this is Shoaib we are talking about and no comment of his will be complete without connecting it to Prashadi. But the part about Prashadi at the end of his comment was very relevant to the overall point he was making and as always it was so beautifully written.
Natasha says:
Feb 06, 2013 at 12:00 am@John - lol!! Maybe you should stop repeating what Shoaib says and be more original as your fiancée says. On the positive side, at least this time you got it right when repeating what Shoaib said rather than making a meal of it like the last couple of times. lol! Don't forget that when Shoaib starts talking about Prashadi it's like Mozart writing a beautiful symphony.
Natasha says:
Feb 06, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Read your last comment several times and again I have to say it was fascinating stuff. It was very informative, passionate and thought provoking. I shared it with a number of my friends and they really enjoyed reading it as well. Like our boy John here even my friends were fascinated by how you somehow managed to fit Prashadi into that comment at the very end and the fact that it was so fitting to do so as well. As a Buddhist I can say that nobody that I know endorses or supports the v

Feb 06, 2013 at 12:00 amWhile having lunch with my fiancee a short while back I told her whenever she sits in front of me absolutely nothing else matters to me and the one and the only thing that does matter to me is what I see with my eyes and feel in my heart. I thought she will be touched but instead she said "Nice try but I already read Shoaib's last comment. Next time try to be original you goofball!!!" That was the end of my lunch. I simply cannot catch a break! Just to add to that I am also confused as hell abou
Shoaib says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha Johnny. I applaud your bravado which can also be construed by some as borderline stupidity for continuing to test the patience of your gal especially at places in which she has easy access to sharp objects. At this rate, Dr. John may need medical assistance from his colleagues very soon if he does not make a genuine effort to think through things in his head before saying them out loud to his soon to be wife. So mate, next time when you leave the hospital, remember to take that thinking cap
Shoaib says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 amEpiphany that just dawned on you is it??? Wow! Come to think about it I guess it’s not a bad idea after all John. What you are essentially saying is that Prashadi and I should make a brief appearance on a public platform as representatives of the Buddhist and Muslim communities and spread the word on communal harmony and peace. I must say that every now and then you do come up with some blockbuster ideas. Kudos to you mate and keep them coming.
John says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, lol! Duly noted boss and thanks for the complement as well. By the way Shoaib, I just had this epiphany that just dawned on me in relation to that earlier comment of yours about communal issues that I thought I should share with you. I think there is no greater advertisement for communal harmony and peace in Sri Lanka than say a hypothetical situation in which you and Prashadi get together. What say you my brother to that?
Natasha says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib – Here are some questions for which I want some quick fire answers from you. It’s part of a profiling process of a person. Yes, I am full of questions, the whole world knows it and you better deal with it instead of making some smart aleck comment ok. My questions are in caps so when you answer do so in small caps so that it will be easier to read. Thanks. 1/ LIFE, WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU? 2/ IF YOU HAD ONE REQUEST TO MAKE FROM GOD WHAT WOULD IT BE? 3/ VALENTINES DAY, WHAT DOES IT MEAN
Shoaib says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 amFor a change, I have a question for you Natasha. How come you never ask questions from John?
Natasha says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, lol! I don't think John was talking about you and your dancing queen appearing on stage together to promote peace and communal harmony. But then you are the master of "divert and avoid" when you don't want to address an issue so that was another instance of that I guess.
John says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, I don't know how your comment went above mine but dude lol! was not at all talking about Prashadi and you getting together on stage to promote communal harmony and peace and you know that even though you took my point in a completely different direction.
Natasha says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - John is a sweet guy but his views are kind of sort of boring. Sorry John lol! I think most people in the medical profession are like that.
Shoaib says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 amI think I should become the international spokesman for the Sinhala bala sena group or whatever it is that they call themselves and John should join the Jamiyyathul Ulama group or whatever it is that they call themselves and from our strategically placed positions we should set the wheels of change in motion and ensure communal harmony and peace will always be intact in our beloved motherland. Are you up for it?
John says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 amWow Nats! Thanks for that. Now I know how Caesar felt.
John says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Shoaib, that sounds like a good plan too especially you as international spokesmen for the Sinhala Bala Sena group. But dude I still like my plan better. Prashadi and Shoaib coming together, now that sends a powerful message of love, peace and harmony and will be a great advert for communal peace and harmony.
Shoaib says:
Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 amHere goes Natasha, my answers in small caps as you demanded (Geez!) - : 1/ LIFE, WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU? Life is a journey that you must allow god to do the driving and navigation while you sit at the back and enjoy the ride irrespective of whether the sun is shining or it’s raining cats and dogs. 2/ IF YOU HAD ONE REQUEST TO MAKE FROM GOD WHAT WOULD IT BE? I would ask God to give me the chance to go back to each and every person that I may have hurt with words or actions knowingly or unknowin

Feb 07, 2013 at 12:00 amYo Shoaib! I asked you 20 questions but you only answered 6. Where are the rest? Or did it get lost when Life mag was posting it? If so please repost your answers.
Natasha says:
Feb 08, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! John don't be so dramatic, it was not that bad. Besides I did refer to you as a sweet guy before saying your views were kind of sort of boring so that should count for something right?

Feb 08, 2013 at 12:00 am@Nats, I can't move around much because since last evening I have this dagger that you drove into my back still in there. Might take a while to get it out. @Shoaib, dude where are the rest of your answers to Natasha's million questions? I am particularly interested in your answer to question 17, hehe!
Shoaib says:
Feb 08, 2013 at 12:00 amI did answer all the questions but it seems to be getting lost somewhere. Will try and posting them again. Question 17 was the easiest to answer and I enjoyed answering it.
Natasha says:
Feb 08, 2013 at 12:00 amOMG John! When is the dagger coming out? lol!
Natasha says:
Feb 08, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - No one here is surprised that you especially enjoyed answering question 17 Mr. Hot shot and we are pretty sure what your answer would have been as well. Pls try posting the answers to the rest of my questions again.

Feb 08, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Shoaib i found some classic footage of your dancing queen in another music video. Can you please watch the clip below when you have some time and tell me whether you still consider her to be this once in a lifetime kind of a stunningly beautiful woman that you always refer to her as. Is this the girl who turned your world upside down back in August last year? or would she if you had run into her while she was shooting for this music video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw2-R_eP3AQ

Feb 09, 2013 at 12:00 amHey Shoaib, your glorious dancing queen's birthday was today. How come you didn't wish her? I didn't see any comment from you in her FB page. That ain't right Mr. Jordan. Yours would have been the most perfect birthday wish for.

Feb 11, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn, John, John when are you going to learn? You have a MD from Johns Hopkins and yet you don’t have the common sense to grasp the simple fact that no matter what you dig up from the archives about Prashadi it ain’t gonna change even an iota the way I think of her. Therefore, don’t waste your time mate. As for that music video in general, I must say that other than the few brief moments in which Prashadi was featured, the rest of that video was embarrassingly painful to watch. Honest to god, Sr

Feb 11, 2013 at 12:00 amQuestion 17 was about a Sri Lankan woman I consider to be the most beautiful and my answer was -; Prashadi. She is not just beautiful but rather an amazing woman who happens to also be stunningly beautiful among a plethora of other incredible attributes which makes her a once in a lifetime kind of woman which even if I begin to explain in greater detail then the answer to this question will take several days of non-stop writing from me to complete and even then I might only be 15% done because t
Natasha says:
Feb 11, 2013 at 12:00 amWow Shoaib! That was a predictable an unsurprising answer but always lovely to read. Also, John will never learn!
John says:
Feb 11, 2013 at 12:00 amFirst things first, welcome home dude! Must be a relief to get away from that harsh winter for a change. So are you planning to go towards the Maharagama cancer hospital for a visit??? Also, I tend to forget that your views about Prashadi can never be changed, so yes I realise its foolish on my part to even keep trying in the hope that I can. Will try not to in the future.
Natasha says:
Feb 11, 2013 at 12:00 amYou guys have your own version of paraphrasing when it comes to having certain conversations I guess lol!
Shoaib says:
Feb 11, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - To be honest I had no idea that Prashadi’s b’day was last week. Even if I did I don’t think I would have wished her on her facebook page. Yes, I have posted comments every now and then on her facebook page to congratulate her on a great performance and so on but as you know whenever I have done so I have been very moderate and guarded in what I say and that is mainly because I was making a conscious effort not to cross a certain line because the way I see it, her facebook page is her p
Natasha says:
Feb 11, 2013 at 12:00 amWow! Shoaib Mohamed, you are a very rare breed of a gentleman. The kind that is becoming extinct very quickly.
John says:
Feb 12, 2013 at 12:00 am@Natasha, what about me?
Natasha says:
Feb 12, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! You are a sweet guy John, but you belong to the type that is in oversupply. Predictable, boring, unimaginative and basically a typical guy that you run into everyday.
John says:
Feb 12, 2013 at 12:00 amI should have stopped reading your comment Nats after the part where you refer to me as a sweet guy because a sentence a woman starts by saying you are a sweet guy usually never ends well. Thanks for driving not one but about three daggers in my back!
Natasha says:
Feb 12, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!
Natasha says:
Feb 13, 2013 at 12:00 amOMG! John, stop being such a drama queen ok lol! Jokes apart I think I owe you a clarification. Do me a favour and read again Shoaib’s last comment the one about not wishing Prashadi on her b’day on her FB page and the reason he didn’t and tell me whether you would have done the same if you were in his position. He thinks the world of this woman he saw and came to know of last August and has been singing her praises lavishly ever since and yet does not wish her on her b’day on her FB page simply
John says:
Feb 13, 2013 at 12:00 amDamn you Shoaib!!!!!!!!!!! And Nats thanks for reassuring me that yours and my lady luv's opinion of Shoaib is not an indictment on me or your man. Phew!!! that was a relief. But seriously speaking, I totally agree with you on what you have said. It drives me insane that he makes us simple guys look inadequate but as I told him once before he is in a different league altogether. By the way where is Shoaib? He still didn't let me know whether he was planning to visit the cancer hospital in Mahara
Natasha says:
Feb 13, 2013 at 12:00 amOh, and one more thing John,I know Shoaib made big joke about my analysis of the “Likes” in Prashadi’s FB page but John you tell me what other than Shoaib was the reason for the “Likes” in Prashadi’s FB page to go from 2,700 in Oct just around the time this article was published to something like 4,150 today? It’s not like Prashadi did anything out of the ordinary in that period. Her main and only public performance between Oct and now was the Sara Sihina concert with BnS a couple of weeks ago a

Feb 15, 2013 at 12:00 amWow! The next time I see your folks the first thing I am going to ask them is why they wasted a colossal amount of money educating Natasha at the prestigious LSE in London and John at the insanely expensive and prestigious Johns Hopkins university in Baltimore when one uses her hard earned (Hons) degree to constantly analyse the evolution of the “Likes” on Prashadi’s facebook page and another when he is not in an operating theatre saving lives, he spends his time trying to convince me that the d

Feb 16, 2013 at 12:00 amGuys, recently I had the privilege of watching the dance troupe of the first family of Sri Lankan Dance, The Chitrasena Dance Company perform and my word they were amazing. This girl Thaji Dias who was in the lead during their performance is a phenomenally brilliant dancer and she is just 23-24 or something like that I was told. An incredible talent, Wow!
Natasha says:
Feb 18, 2013 at 12:00 amHey Shoaib, been reading over the weekend about your hero's 50th b'day which was celebrated in grand scale yesterday. I was curious and wanted to ask you also because you said in response to an earlier question of mine that after god and then your parents, you attribute your success to the impact Michael Jordan had on your life. What about Jordan made him your role model and the one person you wholeheartedly looked up to so passionately? Knowing you I know it just can't be what he did on the bas
Natasha says:
Feb 18, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Hahaha very funny Mr. Smarty pants. But you cannot refute what I have said about your significant role in taking the "Likes" on Prashadi's FB page up by nearly 53% in the last 3 months.
Natasha says:
Feb 18, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib- Sorry but who was it who asked you to go and see the Chitrasena dance company performing? Your welcome dear! Thaji is a brilliant dancer. It's in her blood. How can she be anything other than brilliant.
John says:
Feb 18, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!! Dude Shoaib, in my defense at least I do spend time trying to save lives in between doing those other things you have said. Also, I am just pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming or seeing things here. Maybe Natasha can help me. Has Shoaib actually referred to Thaji has a phenomenally briilaint dancer? That is blasphemous! What is going on here? Is the world coming to an end? I thought those were the kinds of praises that were reserved only for your precious and once in a life tim
Natasha says:
Feb 18, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! John, you are not dreaming as Shoaib was really taken up with Thaji and the entire Chitrasena dance company. I am the one who asked him to go for their performance weekend before last. At the beginning he refused to go as he felt that going to see another dance troupe perform would make him feel like he was cheating on Prashadi. lol!!!
John says:
Feb 18, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!! Shoaib you crack me up dude!
Shoaib says:
Feb 18, 2013 at 12:00 amLet me put it to you this way Natasha; I was a 10 year old kid when Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls won their first NBA Championship in 1991. From that point forward I was enthralled by Jordan’s incomparable exploits on the court just like billions around the world were and I followed every game of his passionately and I have every single one of his landmark games of his iconic and legendary career on DVD as a part of my personal collection. But his on the court exploits as an athlete alone
Natasha says:
Feb 19, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Good stuff! I have read that he was the ultimate competitor and the ultimate winner and that no one quite had the hunger, will and drive for success like Jordan did. You certainly couldn't have picked a better individual to be your role model and the one to emulate.
Shoaib says:
Feb 19, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha, look at John all witty. Let me make one thing very clear to you my brother. I have seen Sri Lankan dancers do their thing before I saw Prashadi back in August last year and I am pretty sure I am bound to see more of them in the future as well. Irrespective of whom I saw before Prashadi and who I will see after her, the one thing that will remain constant is the fact that in my eyes, Prashadi will always be right at the top and then after plenty of daylight in between, the rest of them will
John says:
Feb 19, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Well dude when you put it like that, its hard to counter. So what about that visit to Maharagama? On a more serious note, what are your views on this Halal certfication issue dude? Frankly I think a mountain is being made out of a molehill by people with vested interests.
Natasha says:
Feb 19, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - The "likes" on your dancing queen's FB page is just gonna keep climbing after comments like that just as it has over the past 3 months mainly because of what you have been saying about her. You have given Prashadi a publicity blitzkrieg of a lifetime over the past 3 months and don't you tell me Mister that didn't plan to do that because you knew all along exactly what you were doing. Don't you come up with some smarty pants comment now ok!
Shoaib says:
Feb 20, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – In the two weeks plus that I have been in Colombo I have noticed that this Halal certification issue has become a hot topic in the media etc, etc. However, it’s good to see that like you, most people, seem to believe that an issue has been created out of nothing for those with vested interests on both sides to further their ulterior motives. Muslims of Sri Lanka have been consuming Halal certified goods and services for decades and decades. No one can force someone to ensure that the prod
Natasha says:
Feb 20, 2013 at 12:00 amI couldn't agree with you more Shoaib. Very well said! As a Sinhala Buddhist I can say without any doubt that amongst the people I know and move with, hardly anyone takes these extremist groups seriously. They are more a source of entertainment and in short a joke. What you have said above is absolutely spot on. I love hearing your views on just about anything.
John says:
Feb 20, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, dude I agree with you fully. You should be a part of a panel discussion that takes place on local TV channels just as you do quite often globally on CNBC and Bloomberg. But I must say dude that in my opinion there will be no greater advertisement for racial harmony between Muslims and the Siinhalese than genuine love and you falling in love with a Sinhala Buddhist girl will be that perfect advert. But that girl has to be from Maharagama. Your thoughts?
Natasha says:
Feb 20, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! John, good point! But I don't think Shoaib will respond to that.
Shoaib says:
Feb 21, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn
John says:
Feb 21, 2013 at 12:00 amWas Shoaib actually going to respond to my earlier comment? What is going on here? A few days ago her lavishes praise on another dancer, the kind of praise that was exclusively reserved for his once in a life-time kind of dancing queen and now he is actually going to respond to a topic that he usually avoids? I can't believe this. Have I actually managed to bring about this change in Shoaib?
Natasha says:
Feb 21, 2013 at 12:00 amlol John, don't celebrate just yet because the Shoaib I know always has the last word and almost always wins. But I too am curious to see whether he will respond to you.
Shoaib says:
Feb 21, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn
John says:
Feb 21, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Dude did you actually make a comment above or is your comment getting lost for some reason? If it is getting lost then It is pathetic that the LIFE Mag actually cannot reproduce a comment made by someone without losing its content.
Natasha says:
Feb 22, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! Shoaib give poor John something will you now..
Shoaib says:
Feb 22, 2013 at 12:00 amNow, now John be nice. Technical glitches do happen and that is no fault of LIFE online or anyone else. As I am an inherently nice guy I am going to respond to what you said before and make one final point before I bid farwell to this topic. I admit that every time I close my eyes and think of Prashadi everything seems quite not normal because I feel strong and weak at the same time. I feel excited and at the same time terrified. The truth is that I don’t exactly know what I feel except that whe
John says:
Feb 22, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!! I knew I those words sounded familiar and then I remembered Peter Parker's words to May Jane Watson. I see there is a bit of Bruno Marz at the end to. . As usual I see that you have given your own little spin to both Peter Parker's words and Bruno Marz's song which tells me that in amongst all that crazy humour there is also something very real about the way you feel. Dude, forget saving the world and fighting other people's battles. I think you should be Mahargama bound.
Natasha says:
Feb 22, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - nice, so your version of Bruno Marz's song will be "If I was your man" as oppose to the original which was "When I was your man" You have tweaked enough songs here that you can probably release your own album now. Oh, by the way I speak for the world and hereby release you of your duties of fighting other people's battles. lol!

Feb 25, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - No song written in the past, being written right at this moment or in the future and no profound heart stopping movie dialogue written in the past or will be in the future and finally nothing even from the complete works of Shakespeare will come close to doing justice to wax eloquent the ethereal beauty and remarkably fascinating woman that Prashadi most certainly is and always will be.
John says:
Feb 26, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, dude, I wonder how much of these wonderful things you say about Prashadi in such a profound manner she is capable of grasping or comprehending. I would seriously be surprised even if she has read a line of the complete works of Shakespeare. You once compared her to the Champs-Élysées. Do you think Prashadi knows where the Champs-Élysées is or what its significance is or what you actually meant when you compared her to it? I seriously doubt it. I still wish you had the chance to see the
Natasha says:
Feb 26, 2013 at 12:00 amReally John, I mean really? lol!
Natasha says:
Feb 26, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - We know hot shot that according to you the best of whatever you could say to venerate Prashadi will still not be good enough cause according to you she deserves so much more. I am not crazy like our resident Doctor John here but I have to say that I too am not sure whether she is deserving of such lavish praise like what you shower upon her so effortlessly and so often.
Shoaib says:
Feb 26, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - Before I leave Sri Lanka I think I owe it to you to have a chat with your fiancee and talk to her about your unhealthy obsession with the "Lady in red". This is like the 4th or 5th time you have posted the clip you have in your previous post in relation to the dancer in red and that is in addition to the 4 or 5 times that you have posted clips of the same dancer in another performance as well. What's up doc? Do you still have any pipe dreams of getting me to flinch let alone change the wa
Natasha says:
Feb 26, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! That's true. John and the lady in red. lol! Every week he posts the clip in the hope that Shoaib will change his mind. You are wasting your time John.
John says:
Feb 27, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!! dude Shoaib my fiancee agrees with you but my only saving grace here is that she also agrees with me that had you seen the dancer in red in that youtube video I posted performing live, you would have been blown away by her man. That's for sure.
Natasha says:
Feb 27, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib just wanted clarify that I didn't say Prashadi was undeserving of all what you have said about her here but rather I just said that I was not sure whether she was deserving of the kind of lavish praise you have showered upon her so profoundly, lavishly and consistently. But then again with just one live performance if she managed to captivate and mesmerise a great guy like you (John pls don't throw a jealous fit now ok lol!) that I know for a fact is not easily captivated or mesmerised by
John says:
Feb 27, 2013 at 12:00 am@Natasha, Amen to that sis! Fully agree with you. Shoaib is a master at not showing his hand but dude we read between the lines. On a more serious note, Shoaib, I really admire you for the consistency with which you have stated your case and defended Prashadi and done it with undiminished intensity and so very consistently. As Nats says that is a rare quality in people these days and hard to find even in those people who are supposedly very close to us. She is one hell of a lucky woman to have a

Feb 28, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - hmmm me thinks you were about to make a smarty pants comment in response to my earlier comment and then decided to be nice to me for a change and therefore stopped. Am I right?
Natasha says:
Feb 28, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Aney yes, you are such a darling ne.
Shoaib says:
Feb 28, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - As you know I am a selfless easy going guy and I decided to let you have your moment in the sun. It's the least I can do for you.
John says:
Feb 28, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!
John says:
Mar 02, 2013 at 12:00 amDude Shoaib, for one final time take a look at this clip of BnS performing Rankurahan a few years back which is the same song you saw Prashadi perform to last August and pay special objective attention (forget Prashadi for the moment) to the beautiful lead dancer in a dark pink outfit who performs with Bathiya. This is the same dancer who was in red in that other clip I posted several times and also in yellow in another clip which you liked. Now tell me dude, which performance did you like bette
Natasha says:
Mar 04, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! John, still living in hope eh? But jokes apart, the dancer in that clip is very cute and I love her expressions. My vote is for her.
Natasha says:
Mar 04, 2013 at 12:00 amActually John I change my mind. I am with Shoaib and my vote is for Prashadi. Sorry.....
Shoaib says:
Mar 04, 2013 at 12:00 amJohnny - I don't think I have to answer your question because if you take one glance at all of my previous comments here about Prashadi, the empirical evidence in front of you will provide the answer to your question in an emphatic manner.
Shoaib says:
Mar 05, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - I hear you babe, I really do. Even though you want to be with me my heart is elsewhere in a suburb which is around 15km away from the city of Colombo and therefore whilst I am flattered I'm afraid I have to politely decline.
John says:
Mar 05, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!! Shoaib, you are one crazy dude I tell you.
Natasha says:
Mar 05, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Haha very funny Shoaib, very funny. We know which suburb 15km outside of Colombo your heart is lol!
John says:
Mar 09, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, dude as you have gone to great lengths to defend Prashadi and propel her profile to astronomical heights you should also help her better present herself in the English language as that is essential for her growth and development as an artist in Sri Lanka. For example if you go to her Facebook page you will notice that in almost every sentence she writes you can find so many glaring mistakes made by her, grammatical and others. For example her most recent post says and I quote "Hey all..
Natasha says:
Mar 10, 2013 at 12:00 amlol John you have to cut Prashadi some slack because she comes from a Sinhala speaking background as do a majority of those in our entertainment industry. So the English language does not come to them as naturally as the Sinhala language does.
SHOAIB says:
Mar 11, 2013 at 12:00 amJOHN – Remember in one of my earlier comments I asked you to find me a clip of Prashadi doing an interview in English as I wanted to see how she comes across in the English language and you then told me that I will never find such a clip cause the Sri Lankan entertainment industry is essentially the Sinhala entertainment industry and the modus operandi is in Sinhala and therefore a majority of them will not come across that well in English. With that being the case as per your own admission, why
John says:
Mar 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, what can i say dude, as always you make all the very valid points in your own inimitable and emphatic style. Loved the disclaimer, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way I think its high time that you made a visit to that suburb 15km away from Colombo where your heart is.
Natasha says:
Mar 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Aney yes, I have fallen in love with you at least 200 times or more after reading each of your comments which more often than not sounded like beautiful love poems or songs written for Prashadi. Now that is a great reason for me to fall in love with you ne hot shot. Thanks very much for saying that you will mention me as well during your Nobel peace prize acceptance speech. I am thrilled lol! I have to say though that I agree with everything you have said in your last comment. As alway
Natasha says:
Mar 12, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - OMG, I just read your beautiful post on Prashadi's Facebook page. No one can give her a better recommendation than you. That was a lovely read. Oops! I did it again, falling in love with you hot shot for the 202nd time after reading that beautiful post of yours on Prashadi's Facebook page. Oh I wish a strong wind would blow your heart away from where it is at the moment which is15km away from the city of Colombo and bring it towards Gregory's road in Col-7. Hmmmm!
SHOAIB says:
Mar 13, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - I hear you babe, I hear you. But what can I do? It is not my fault that god created only one super awesome guy and that guy of course being me. Every man wants to be like me and every woman wants to be with me. This is an occupational hazard for me and the occupation I am referring to here is basically the occupation of me being the awesome one of a kind guy that I absolutely am. At the risk of crushing your dreams I have to state rather unequivocally that not even hurricane Sandy or K
John says:
Mar 13, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!! Shoaib, you crack me up dude! I would love to have your occupational hazard as well, lol!. Dude, as I have said many times before I think the time is right for you take a trip down the A4 to that suburb 15km outside of the city of Colombo.
Natasha says:
Mar 13, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - lol! You are impossible mister! It is quite amazing how you can go from being an intellectual par excellence one minute to completely out of your mind mad funny the next minute. That is a very endearing quality. Now don't flatter yourself smarty pants just because I said that ok! Aney yes, life must be so tough for you ne you poor thing because of the kind of occupational hazards that you have to endure just because you are god's gift to us women. What to do ne. lol! Why god why didn't
John says:
Mar 15, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!! Nats does a better job at keeping up with you Shoaib when it comes to the banter than I ever could.
SHOAIB says:
Mar 18, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – Well mate, granted our brains on the ramp, our très belle Mademoiselle, Natasha, is sharp and quick-witted which makes her somewhat of a worthy adversary to me when it comes to banter. In addition, she does look stunning in a dress and therefore I do tend to go a little easy on her and let her have her way with me and allow her to have her 5mnts in the sun convincing herself that she can actually go toe to toe with me in a verbal sparring session. You on the other hand Dr. John, are not t
Natasha says:
Mar 18, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - lol!!!!!!!! That was hilarious! You are a mad hatter Shoaib. Aney thank you so much for going easy on me ok. Such a darling you are ne. So what do you say Johnny boy? Ready for a makeover and prove Shoaib wrong and show him that you can look great in a dress? Lol!
John says:
Mar 19, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Dude!!!!! You are out of your mind lol!!!! I read your last post at the worst possible time as I had just come back after conveying some not so good news to a patient of mine and the next thing I was doing was laughing my head off after reading your post. I hope no one heard me or saw me. When I made my first post here I didn’t give a damn about Prashadi and nor did I ever give her a 2nd look. The only dancers in my opinion that were the true dancing queens of this Country were the dan
SHOAIB says:
Mar 19, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – Haha! Fear not my friend for I shall never in a million years even think about convincing you to get into a dress. The reason for that is that I greatly value the gift of sight that god almighty has blessed me with and I have no doubt in my mind that one look at you in a dress and I will permanently lose my sight never to be able to see ever again.
Natasha says:
Mar 19, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - OMG! You are crazy! lol!!!!
John says:
Mar 20, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, lol!!!!! No chance of me getting into a dress so your sight is in no danger bro lol! By the way dude not sure whether you are still in town April the 6th but if you are Channa’s troupe is having their Thala concert that day and you should come for it and see Sri Lanka’s best dancing troupe in action.
SHOAIB says:
Mar 20, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - I am a one dancing queen’s man and take a great deal of pride in epitomizing characteristics such as faithfulness and loyalty. What you are asking me to do by suggesting that I should attend the concert of Channa’s dancers essentially tantamounts to nothing short of visual dancing adultery. Hence, for the love of god stop playing the devil in the flesh and luring me into a path of sin as thou shall not succeed!
Natasha says:
Mar 21, 2013 at 12:00 amHehe John, I wouldn't count on Shoaib coming for the event on the 6th. I might go as I have always enjoyed the performance of Channa's dancers.
Natasha says:
Mar 21, 2013 at 12:00 amLol!! That was a typical Shoaib response. Visual dancing adultery lol!
John says:
Mar 21, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!
Natasha says:
Mar 21, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Going off- topic a bit I have to ask you as you use the words faithfulness and loyalty a lot and I know you take them very seriously. Bill Clinton I know is someone that you admire greatly after Michael Jordan (loved your comment about him earlier today on your FB page by the way). Did the issues surrounding his affair with Monica and what happened after that change the opinion you had about him?
SHOAIB says:
Mar 23, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - Why should it? What he did in his private life and / or in his bedroom was a matter that was strictly for his wife and himself to deal with and not anyone else’s business. The fact that he lied under oath about his fling with Monica was the bigger issue from a judicial point of view and perjury is a criminal offence that carries a jail term and he was lucky to get away with it. While I never ever would condone any of those ill advised actions of his it still does not change or influenc
John says:
Mar 23, 2013 at 12:00 amI am not that familiar with US politics as Shoaib is but many say that Clinton was the most Charismatic President to be elected since JFK. Both had similar weaknesses too. lol!
Natasha says:
Mar 23, 2013 at 12:00 am@John - Hmmmmm a typical boring John like comment. That's why I didn't ask you sunshine and instead asked Shoaib. Now John don't be a drama queen and throw a fit because of what I said ok! Lol! But seriously Shoaib I would like to hear your views.
John says:
Mar 25, 2013 at 12:00 amNats, I was just going to respond to your dagger driving through my back kind of comment above but just then I read Shoaib's comment and thought to myself why bother because he has proved that what you said was correct and once again exposed me. Thanks a lot dude!!!! Why can't you just say Clinton was very good at handling the economy and did a great job overall as President or something simple like that and leave it that. Oh no now you can't do that can you Professor Shoaib Mohamed??? You had t

Mar 25, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - No sir, not when you put it like that. I hate the fact that when you say something it's almost impossible for others to dispute it because you put it across in such an amazing manner with hardcore facts to back up what you say. Still it's very much a pleasure to read even though at times I want to punch you because i can't stand the fact that you are right so often, errrrrr! lol! However, I do agree with what you have said wholeheartedly.
Natasha says:
Mar 25, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!! John, stop over-reacting! You should be the last to talk about Shoaib's Kennedy School of govt education because you my dear are an Ivy League product as well. You just happen to be a boring one that's the only difference. lol!
SHOAIB says:
Mar 25, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – Haha! What the hell man? I was not looking to expose you doc. Natasha despite already having a lovely bloke in her life and also knowing very well that my heart is circling to land (like a jet preparing to land at Heathrow) at a location along the A4, 15km outside of Colombo, just can’t stop herself from falling in love with me over and over again. That in turn makes her say things whilst being intoxicated by the mere thought of me and therefore my advice to you is to not read too much in

John says:
Mar 25, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!!!! Captain you are cleared to land on the A4.....
Natasha says:
Mar 25, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Haha very funny! My past time is falling in love with you ne. I can't stop myself even if I tried. lol! I feel so sorry for you that your life is so tough ne. Why did you have to be so awesome, charming and irresistible and drive all of us women crazy? lol!
John says:
Mar 26, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, dude so jokes apart what is it going to be in terms of you coming to see the real dancing queens of Sri Lanka at the Thala concert on the 6th where Channa's troupe will be performing? Are you in favour of it or not?
SHOAIB says:
Mar 27, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – Thanks for clearing me to land on the A4 but I envisage one small problem though as I hear that upon disembarking at my final destination at a location on the A4 some 15km away from CMB, I will have to go through immigration which will be manned by members of the Bodu Bala Sena. How do you reckon they will react to a Shoaib Mohamed arriving in their area to court one of their Sinhala girls? Do you think I have what it takes to charm the Bodu Bala Sena, melt their hearts and make them volu
Natasha says:
Mar 27, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib!!!!! You are insane! lol!!! My stomach hurts after laughing so much. OMG! If there is anyone who can charm the BBS and become Maharagama's favourite and most loved son, that person has to be you hot shot. Even my colleagues at my office are in splits after reading your last comment. lol! BBS ehema Kiwwata matai loke inna anikuth siyaluma girls lata oyawa ehema lehesiyen amathaka Karanna ba aney! lol!
John says:
Mar 27, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, dude you are fricking crazy bro! lol!!!! FYI the BBS members are not exactly Ivy league educated singlish speaking brown suddas like you. lol!!! Therefore I don’t think you will hear them stuff like “brother from another mother” or “unequivocal blessings” or “drop dead gorgeous” or “emphatically” for that matter bro. lol!!! Also, I have no doubt dude that you will be able to melt their hearts in no time and as Nats says become Maharagama’s most loved son and priceless asset. In fact I
John says:
Mar 30, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, so what's it gonna be bro? Are you in or out in terms of joining us to go for Channa's Thala concert on April the 6th where you will get to see the real dancing queens of this Country, the Channa-Upuli dance troupe perform. You in favour?
SHOAIB says:
Apr 02, 2013 at 12:00 amHmmmm well mate I guess simply in order to support the Centenary Celebration Building Fund of Dharmasoka College I might join you guys on the 6th for "Thala"
John says:
Apr 02, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, lol!!! Until today did you even know that Sri Lanka had a school by the name of Dharmasoka College? lol! Dude you are such a snob that you did not even know that a school called Anula Vidyalaya existed before I told you that Prashadi studied there. Anyways glad that you agreed to come even though it is for the cause and not for the peformance of Channa's dance troupe. lol!
Natasha says:
Apr 02, 2013 at 12:00 amWhat? His Majesty Shoaib Mohamed is coming for 'Thala'? OMG! Ahhhhh he is coming to support the cause right. lol! Happy you are joining us though. The Musaeus auditorium is just a 3mnt max walk for you.
SHOAIB says:
Apr 03, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – I will be coming on the 6th for Channa’s concert only under one condition and that being the assurance that you have given me that Natasha will not be sitting next to me. The reason for this as I already told you is that if she sits next to me, despite the fact that she knows very well that my heart is set on a drop dead gorgeous once in a lifetime Sinhala Kella in Maharagama, Natasha will start hallucinating that she and I are actually on a date or something and while Channa’s Thala will
John says:
Apr 03, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!!!!!!!
Natasha says:
Apr 03, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Haha yes that is exactly what will happen and I am already hallucinating that I managed to get your drop dead gorgeous Maharagama kella that you have your mind set on out of your mind and replaced by a kolamba hathey your kind of girl and that will be ME! So learn to live with it ok! BBS nemei mona BS Kiwwath matai anikuth girls latai oyawa ehema lehesiyen amathaka Karanna ba. lol!
John says:
Apr 04, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!! Nats, don't forget the BBS warning to you. Now Shoaib is one of their elite members.
SHOAIB says:
Apr 04, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - More like honorary founder life member of the Bodu Bala Sena international wing. The awesome duo of Galaboda Attha Gnanasera and Shoaib Mohamed are like Starsky and Hutch these days. Some even compare us to the greatest duo of all time, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Obviously I am Michael Jordan.
Natasha says:
Apr 05, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - lol! Deadly duo and of course who else but you can be the legendary Michael Jordan ne. So Gnanasera will be your side kick like Scottie Pippen was to Michael Jordan I suppose. But Gnanasera monawa Kiwwath apey hitha wenas Karanna ba aney. lol!
John says:
Apr 05, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!!!! Thick pals eh now? Anyways I am glad that Shoaib is finally going to see the real dancing queens of Sri Lanka peform tomorrow. I know dude that you have seen them before at events in the US and also London but tomorrow I am sure you will be very impressed.
Natasha says:
Apr 09, 2013 at 12:00 amI know Shoaib is going to have a field day making fun of me for this and my obsession to analyse this and blah, blah, blah (don’t you dare mister!) but I have to say this one final thing in reference to the reaction to the above article published on Prashadi in order to put things into perspective. Let’s assume for a moment that Shoaib never came in here and made a single comment. Had that been the case no one would have cared about this article and it would have died a natural death just a few
John says:
Apr 09, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!! Nats, Shoaib sure will have something cheeky to say to you, don't worry about that. But seriously speaking I agree with what you have said above 100%. Couldn't have said it better myself.
SHOAIB says:
Apr 11, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - Oh no babe you have nothing to worry about as even though I could come up with plenty to say in response to your last comment, I am just gonna sit back and let you have this one. Why? Because I am a nice guy and contrary to what you say I am always nice to you. In fact I am so nice to you that the moment I read your last comment I sent a message on BBM to your soon to be husband and asked him to check out your last comment here if he wants a sort of a preview of what a typical day in t
John says:
Apr 11, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That sounds a lot like Nats. Poor Shehan.......
Natasha says:
Apr 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - lol! You are impossible!!! I am not that bad ok. Yes, yes you are always such a darling to me ne. Not!!!
John says:
Jun 05, 2013 at 12:00 amWow! 10,000 hits and counting for this article. I have to say that neither the article or its content really deserve it but the comments especially that of one person (not you Nats) is the reason for it. Common Shoaib, we know you are in town bro, make a come back here and give Prashadi a boost dude!
Natasha says:
Jun 06, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, I don't usually agree with John but in this case I have to. BTW John, Shoaib is not going to make an appearance every few months to give Prashadi a boost ok! There was a need for that a few months ago and he came in and protected her and defended her against blood sucking cyber vultures like you lol! who were attacking her.
John says:
Jun 06, 2013 at 12:00 amHmmmmmm looks like someone is a little jealous.
Natasha says:
Jun 06, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha, very funny John!
SHOAIB says:
Jun 07, 2013 at 12:00 amYou know if I did not know the two of you and your respective partners as well as I do, I would be inclined to conclude that the two of you are a match made in heaven (or hell depending on how you want to look at it). John, for the love of god take it easy on Natasha and give the girl a break. As it is she has so much to deal with. A sneak peek into her head and what you will get to see is an over the top melodramatic masala bollywood movie playing in there non-stop 24/7. I mean think about it;
John says:
Jun 07, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nats and I would be a match made in hell!
John says:
Jun 07, 2013 at 12:00 amDude Shoaib, are you incapable of making any ordinary comment about Prashadi? Why does every comment you make about her or in reference to her have to be so shakespearean!
Natasha says:
Jun 07, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha, smarty pants Shoaib! Yes, yes I simply cannot stop myself from falling in love with you over and over again. You and I would have been a match made in the 7th level of heaven. John and I on the other hand would have been a match made in the 7th level of hell! lol!! Also Shoaib, isn't it time that you referred to this breathtakingly beautiful woman from Maharagama that you have your heart set on by her name?
SHOAIB says:
Jun 10, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – Ordinary comment about Prashadi? Never. Not even if you held a gun to my head and the reason for that is simple. As you know I say it as I see it and Prashadi in my opinion is simply and utterly an extraordinary woman in every way. At the same time, as Natasha, you and everyone else would testify unequivocally, I am extraordinaire personified in more ways than one. So when a bloke who is extraordinaire personified like me talks about a woman he considers to be incredibly extraordinary and
Natasha says:
Jun 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - Ok ok we know that according to you the heavens open up every time your Maharagama based dancing queen smiles. It would be nice if you can say such beautiful things like that about others too.
John says:
Jun 11, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib, Dude!!!!! What can I say? You have a solid answer for everything.
SHOAIB says:
Jun 11, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - By "others" I presume you are pretty much referring to yourself. If so, I always say nice things about you. I don't think there are many Sri Lankan women out there who have been a model in a major fashion capital like London and at the same time managed to graduate with first class honours in Statistics and Quantitative methods from a prestigious academic institution like The London School of Economics as you did on both counts. Of course it’s a travesty that at times you use your degr
John says:
Jun 11, 2013 at 12:00 amlol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shoaib you are fricking crazy dude! I join you in praying for Shehan....lol!!!
Natasha says:
Jun 12, 2013 at 12:00 amlol! You cheeky fella Shoaib!!! I will punch you the next time I see you! You are impossible but I can never stay mad at you for too long. Oops I did it again, falling head over heels for you. Can't help myself ne. lol!
Natasha says:
Jun 18, 2013 at 12:00 amMr. Hot shot Shoaib, I have a question for you. Yes another one! Am I correct in assuming that everything you have said here is only a reflection of your opinion about Prashadi and not necessarily her dance troupe? I ask this because I know for a fact that you hold the Chitrasena dance troupe in the highest esteem and also admire Channa's troupe. Therefore I am sure but do correct me if I am wrong that despite all that you have said about Prashadi even you will certainly not hold Prashadi's danc
John says:
Jun 21, 2013 at 12:00 amExcellent question Nats! I look forward to reading Professor Shoaib Mohamed's response to that. Dude Shoaib if you even begin to make a case to equate Prashadi's dance troupe to the other two that Nats is talking about I will have to dig a hole and bury myself!!!
Natasha says:
Jun 26, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib!!! Are you waiting for a good Nakath time to respond to my question in my previous post or are you avoiding it because you care so much about your precious dancing queen that you don't want to say something that might disappoint her? Common hot shot which one is it?
Natasha says:
Jun 26, 2013 at 12:00 am@John - lol! Stop being such a drama queen.
SHOAIB says:
Jun 26, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – Keep in mind that anytime I start a sentence by mentioning Prashadi's name, that very moment becomes an absolutely perfect nakath time. Such is the incredible amount of goodness that the mere mention of her name exudes that even the stars align themselves in the best possible way that makes everything look so right and feel so right.
Natasha says:
Jun 26, 2013 at 12:00 amOMG! Shoaib! It's amazing how easily you come up with these things when talking about Prashadi.
Natasha says:
Jun 27, 2013 at 12:00 am@John - Hmmmm yes even I am at times not sure whether Prashadi deserves the kind of generous amazing praise Shoaib showers upon her every single time but like you I trust Shoaib's judgement wholeheartedly. Now don't get cocky ok Shoaib!!! By the way I am still waiting for the answer to that question.
John says:
Jun 27, 2013 at 12:00 amNats, don't you know already that Prashadi brings out the Shakespeare in Shoaib. I still believe that Prashadi does not deserve all of the incredibly lavish praise Shoaib showers upon her all the time. But then again, Shoaib is one of THE most sensible guys I have ever met so I guess she must be deserving of it.
John says:
Jun 27, 2013 at 12:00 amPersonally for me, as much as Shoaib has changed my opinion about Prashadi I stand by what I said earlier and more or less all along and that is that there are other dancers in Sri Lanka that are far more deserving of the magnanimous praise Shoaib showered upon Prashadi so generously. This article would have been an insignificant after thought at best that no one would have given a damn about had Shoaib not come along and taken over and just propelled Prashadi to heights she has never been taken
SHOAIB says:
Jun 28, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – In response to your early question / assumption, YES, you are absolutely spot on as every single comment that I have made here is only a reflection of my opinion about Prashadi the individual and not her dance troupe. That doesn’t mean to say that I think any else of her dance troupe or the members of her dance troupe. I am sure all of them are very hard working and talented. However, the one and the only time in which I saw Prashadi perform which was last Aug, my eyes were just glued
SHOAIB says:
Jun 28, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - Haha, worry not my friend for I have no interest to take you to the cleaners as after all you are entitled to your opinion and are more than welcome to disagree with me in relation to all that I have said about Prashadi via my 250 plus comments here. Last time I checked we still live in a free world (granted, one that the CIA spies on, but mostly a free a world I guess!) and as I said before you are more than welcome to express your own opinion on this or any other issue. It was never my
Natasha says:
Jul 02, 2013 at 12:00 amHmmm! I have got to agree with John's last comment. I too was more impressed with Shoaib's magnificent portrayal of Prashadi rather than Prashadi herself. If not for Shoaib I would hardly even notice her.
SHOAIB says:
Jul 02, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha - Are you sure??? History tells us that in about say 10mnts or so you will do a u-turn and take back your earlier comment and say "You know what I agree with Shoaib".
Natasha says:
Jul 02, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib!!! I am still waiting for your response to my earlier comment. Can we have it in 2013?
Natasha says:
Jul 02, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib!!! I am still waiting for your response to my earlier comment. Can we have it in 2013?
SHOAIB says:
Jul 02, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – Are you sure you agree with John? History would tells us that in about 10mnts you are more than likely to take back what you said earlier and utter your famous words “I take back what I said earlier because now that I have come back to my senses I realize that totally agree with the amazing Lord Shoaib Mohamed”.
John says:
Jul 03, 2013 at 12:00 amLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That sounds very much like Nats.
Natasha says:
Jul 04, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha very funny Shoaib.
SHOAIB says:
Jul 05, 2013 at 12:00 amNatasha – Firstly sorry for the delay in responding to your earlier comment. As you know I do enjoy testing your patience. In response to your early question / assumption, YES, you are absolutely spot on as every single comment that I have made here is ONLY a reflection of my opinion about Prashadi the individual and not her dance troupe. That doesn’t mean to say that I think any less of her dance troupe or those in her dance troupe. I am sure all of them are very hard working and talented. Howe
Natasha says:
Jul 05, 2013 at 12:00 am@Shoaib - As always it is such a pleasure to read your views Shoaib. Like I said before and John kind of alluded to as well, reading what you have to say about Prashadi is what I find far more appealing and interesting than Prashadi herself. Your views are so profound and you express them so beautifully!!! I absolutely love reading them. Now don't get all cocky and be a smarty pants with me ok! Be nice!!!
John says:
Jul 08, 2013 at 12:00 amDude Shoaib well said as always. I still don't think Prashadi deserves the kind of lavish and profound praise you shower upon her so generously. Also, man I really wish I could write as well as you do. Your command of the language and the way you express your views is stellar and top class bro!
John says:
Aug 01, 2013 at 12:00 amI know I have said this before and you guys are going to have a good laugh at my expense but I have to say it again that the dancer (the one in red) of Channa's troupe in this youtube clip below is the one dancer who would have for sure deserved the generous and lavish praise that Shoaib has undeservedly showered upon Prashadi here. She is a much better dancer than Prashadi and way, way, way better looking (no competition at all in the looks department) as well. Like I said so many times, none o
Natasha says:
Aug 05, 2013 at 12:00 amLol! Here we go again!
John says:
Aug 06, 2013 at 12:00 amNats, I know Shoaib will take me to the cleaners for that but even you will agree with me right?
Natasha says:
Aug 07, 2013 at 12:00 amHmmmm Johnny boy I don't exactly agree with you word for word. However, I get the gist of what you are trying to say and do agree with that to some extent. All I can say is repeat what I said before. I find Shoaib's portrayal of Prashadi and his idea of Prashadi from his perspective far more appealing and impressive than Prashadi herself.
SHOAIB says:
Aug 13, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - Thanks doc for the Michelangelo complement but to be honest I would much prefer to think of myself as Leonardo da Vinci and Prashadi as my Mona Lisa. It just seems so right on both counts.
Natasha says:
Aug 14, 2013 at 12:00 amHmmmmm Mr. Hot shot, I thought I was your Mona Lisa?
SHOAIB says:
Aug 14, 2013 at 12:00 amYou? That would be more like Lisa Marie Simpson............
John says:
Aug 14, 2013 at 12:00 amLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John says:
Aug 14, 2013 at 12:00 amDude Shoaib, thanks for not taking me to the cleaners as a result of the comment I posted on the 1st of this month.
Natasha says:
Aug 14, 2013 at 12:00 amAney Shoaib, stop picking on me men! By the way Mr. Shoaib Mohamed since you wrote that really beautiful recommendation several months ago I have not seen you make any of your typical classy comments of lavish praise for Prashadi on her Facebook page for a long, long time. How come?
SHOAIB says:
Aug 14, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn - Haha, don’t worry doc for I have no interest in taking you to the cleaners as after all you are entitled to your opinion and are more than welcome to disagree with me in relation to all that I have said about Prashadi via my 250 plus comments here. Last time I checked we still live in a free world (granted, a world that the CIA spies on right into our living rooms, but mostly a free world I guess!) and as I said before you are more than welcome to express your own opinion on this or any o
Natasha says:
Aug 15, 2013 at 12:00 amWow! Every time I read / hear your views on anything I am always in awe! It's one thing to know what you are talking about and another to have the ability to express it exceptionally well. You Shoaib do both brilliantly well and as always I agree with you word for word!
Keshini says:
Aug 15, 2013 at 12:00 amI have really enjoyed reading the comments section here and particularly enjoyed reading the comments of Shoaib. As a frequent visitor to articles published by life I can say that I have never seen such an amazing comments section that has been such a joy to read and follow as this one that followed the article on Prashadi Ranasinghe. I don't think even Prashadi would have ever imagined this. This must also be one of those very rare occasions in which the comments section did a far better job of
Natasha says:
Aug 16, 2013 at 12:00 amDitto Keshini! I couldn't have put it better myself. While it will certainly be a pleasure to have more guys like Shoaib we can certainly see less of the likes of John lol!
John says:
Sep 12, 2013 at 12:00 amShoaib dude, sorry for the late reply. Been on vacation for the last couple of weeks. I have no response to what you have said. In fact I never do. But I just can't get over how a guy like you could actually think the world of a girl like Prashadi. If you hadn't seen her at the SLPL event and she just happened to pass you by somewhere, you wouldn't bother to give her a second look dude......Anyways thanks for your comment. I must be the only guy who actually thanks the guy who destroys him at wi
John says:
Sep 13, 2013 at 12:00 amAnd of course Natasha's day would not be complete if she didn't find something to have a go at me I suppose. All of us may not be 'hot shots' (as you often call him) like Shoaib Mohamed but that does not mean we are write offs either ok missy.........
SHOAIB says:
Sep 14, 2013 at 12:00 amThanks Doc! At the end of Michael Jordan's last season with the Bulls I remember reading a tribute written to him in the Sports illustrated magazine in which the writer wrote "The amazing thing about Jordan was that he stepped on his opponents throats every single night and yet he somehow managed to make it looking so charming that at times it looked like his opponents were just waiting and begging to be destroyed and embarrassed by him". Now Jordan being my mentor and all, I try to exemplify in
John says:
Sep 16, 2013 at 12:00 amHaha yes that indeed you do dude! BTW Shoaib tell me, betweem Mohamed Ali and Michael Jordan who is your pick as the greatest ever sportsman of all time?
Natasha says:
Sep 16, 2013 at 12:00 amOk ok I am gonna say something that I am sure will make Johnny boy happy. I watched the episode of copy chat on hiru TV last Sun of Aug I think in which Prashadi was featured. Shoaib, remember John spoke about a chat show some months back in which Prashadi was there as well. This is the same show. Why on earth she was back in this show again when she is not even a star of any kind is just crazy. I get what John was saying about this last time. OMG! Prashadi’s presence was really nothing more tha

John says:
Sep 17, 2013 at 12:00 amThank you Natty!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!! Someone gets what I have been trying to say about Prashadi all along.
SHOAIB says:
Sep 17, 2013 at 12:00 amWhat???? Who the hell is this bloke she is allegedly seeing in Kottawa? How can this happen? Why god why??? Oh god I just heard the sound of a crack and as I suspected it was the sound of my heart cracking into 2 and possibly 4 and maybe even 8.
John says:
Sep 17, 2013 at 12:00 amLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Natasha says:
Sep 18, 2013 at 12:00 amLol! Shoaib just 8 or are you sure your heart didn't break into 16 pieces?
Natasha says:
Sep 18, 2013 at 12:00 amJohnny, the question you asked Shoaib about Ali or Jordan is an excellent one because having known Shoaib for a long time I can say that the only time he threatens to lose objectivity and unbiasedness is when he talks about Michael Jordan.
SHOAIB says:
Sep 18, 2013 at 12:00 amOh come on Nats, how could you even say that? I never lose objectivity period and am always unbiased irrespective of what my personal inclinations are about anything. I have never seen Ali fight because by the time we were born in the 80's Ali was already done and dusted. But we have all heard enough and more about him from our parents, grandparents and so on and of course have seen the video clips time and time again to realize what a phenomenal athlete and icon he was. To be honest when talki
John says:
Sep 19, 2013 at 12:00 amWow! great read boss! Got to agree with you that Jordan gets the nod ahead of Mohamed Ali but dude, overall, Ali was more open about his stance when it came to sensitive issues and that is why many would go with him but here we are talking purely sporting achievements and in that regard no question that Jordan is way ahead of the rest.
John says:
Sep 19, 2013 at 12:00 amDude Shoaib, you must already know this but I remember watching this Jordan video once and they were talking about a Bulls game against the Utah Jazz and there was a moment when Jordan dunked on John Stockton who was a little guy and a Utah fan from the crowd yelled at Jordan "Yo Jordan pick on someone your own size". A few minutes later Jordan dunked on the 6'10 and 300 pound Karl Malone and immediately after that Jordan went up to that same fan and said to him "Was he big enough for you" lol!!
Natasha says:

Sep 21, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – That’s right man, so many great stories like that about Jordan. He was the ultimate competitor. The entire Sports world at that point felt that it was all over for Jordan and

John says:
Sep 23, 2013 at 12:00 amWow awesome dude! What a player Jordan was! Amazing! Our cricketers who choke everytime we reach a final need to look at these videos and see how Jordan performed in all of those 6 finals and see how he rose to the occassion and carried his team to Championship glory every single time.

Sep 25, 2013 at 12:00 amJohn – Hmmmm, what was the need for me to respond to that comment of Nats? SHOAIB says:
Oct 02, 2013 at 12:00 amHave some faith in me Nats, the last thing I am going to do is take pot shots at you. You are my bff and just at the drop of a hat I can think of so many things that you are a star in.
