Opening night of the HSBC Colombo Fashion Week 2013

Ten years down the line, Ajai Vir Singh has still got it!! In fact, he's got the kind of stuff to reckon with! Reinventing an annual show and raising the bar higher and higher each year (so much so that the bar seems impossible to reach by others)! Congratulations Mr. Singh you've made the opening night a spectacular one indeed!!

A new ramp, wonderful new talent and that unmatchable buzz make HSBC CFW all what we clamor to be a part of - year after year!!

A star studded designer line up made this opening night unforgettable and was befitting of the 10th year Anniversary. Stars of the night include Darshi Keerthisena, Sonali Dharmawardene and new comers Amanda and Aqua Island.

Charini Suriyage: "The concept for my collection is to do with sophisticated glamour with a bit of a Goth/Punk feel as well. Essentially it's dark glamour I would say!"

Collection G by Gihan

G by Gihan: “My inspiration is the ocean; and I have used blue and indigo in my colour palette. All the garments are hand dyed using tie and dye techniques. I have also included footwear, hand bags, other accessories in my collection this year. All are very straightforward ready to wear pieces.”

WHITE by Spa Ceylon

Spa Ceylon’s new clothing range ‘WHITE by Spa Ceylon’, a collection of luxury tropical wear inspired by the romance of old Ceylon and the pristine purity of WHITE launched on Day One. This exclusive collection is designed by Sri Lanka’s leading designer Darshi Keerthisena and will be made available for sale at select Spa Ceylon outlets in the Summer 2013 season.

Ajai Virr Singh: "There's always butterflies with organizing CFW - expectations are high cause its become by Gods grace the biggest show in Sri Lanka. We have to deliver a show that properly shows the fashion industry in Sri Lanka. You have this mantle of showing and showcasing Sri Lanka's designers in the best possible way. So there is a lot of choreographing, curating involved. We make sure that a lot of international media is present so the world is wowed by our talented designers! So it's always a challenge but Day One went well and I'm looking forward to Thursday and Friday nights shows!"

Otara Gunawardene: "I think the show gets better every year, it's always good to see new talent at each show. My favorite was Sonali Dharmawardene and I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and day afters show as well!"

Radhika Perera Hernandez: "I just did my first show at CFW and I'm so excited and happy that it went so well and that it was well received. I'm over the moon right now.. I'm really happy! "

Neloufer Anverally: "It was an excellent show, it was great to see our designers been given an opportunity like this and I thought Sonali was absolutely incredible, she was the best!"

Shaesta De costa: "I thought it was a great start to Cfw 2013. Was immensely impressed by Amanda's debut CFW collection and loved the effortless flow of Radhikas. Fahads collection was on trend, Sonalis colour palette was beautiful and Darshi never fails to impress."

Dinali Kodituwakku: "The standards have definitely improved this year and we saw some stunning creations. Amanda's collection was absolutely stunning and look forward to seeing more of her in the future. Loved the colours and the tie dye she had done. Darshi as usual came out with a lovely collection for Spa Ceylon."

Whats with the models mood? None of them are smiling or pleasant looking, They all look so morose

Agree with Goni Billa, Correct what he/she states, not even one of the models are smiling or putting on a pleasant countenance. Most of them look bored. Just watch a foreign fashion show to see how the models who walk the ramp connect/mesh with the audience.

the two who has commented above me obviously has not watched a fashion show, your are not suppose to smile while on ramp! please Google new york fashion week and see the collections and how they are presented. pls do not display your ignorance on a subject your honestly have no clue about! the cloths are suppose to connect with the audience that the work of a good model, the models are not suppose to be highlighted!
