Last weekend our little island paradise was treated to a whole load of entertainment.
Despite the T20 World Cup Finals on Sunday, many people found time on Saturday (October 6) evening to head on down to the CH & FC Grounds where one of the biggest parties ever to hit the shores of Sri Lanka, took place.
The creator of the Sunburn festival Nikhil Chinapa speaking to Life Online on a previous occasion said, ‘Sunburn Colombo 2012 will be an experience in itself’ and his statement was proven correct on Saturday evening.
Starting off the event was DJ Shaan followed by Nikhil and Arjun Vagale by which time the crowd had settled down and were ready for the biggest act of the night. However, the organizers knew better and had arranged for Bobby Burns to take the stage and pump up the crowd even more. After what seemed like the longest wait that was well worth it, the lights dimmed down and the crowd knew they were in for an experience like no other.
One lone voice in the crowd began chanting “Afrojack! Afrojack!” and in no time the entire crowd had taken up the chant and all those in attendance were expressing their request in unison.
A figure emerged from behind the turntable and the roar that erupted from the crowd would have made the fiercest monster to walk the face of the earth scamper away with his tail between his legs. The crowd was uncontrollable - jumping, dancing, ladies being hoisted onto their boy friends’ shoulders - and the night simply kept getting crazier and crazier.
Afrojack in action!
The Sunburn Festival will leave many good memories in the minds of those who attended but what we at Life Online saw that evening was that music makes everyone forget their differences and unite and party as one big happy family.
After all there is no party like a Sri Lankan party.
