Bright Sparks dazzle on Day 1 of HSBC Colombo Fashion Week 2014 
 
 
 
HSBC Colombo Fashion Week 2014 kicked off on Monday (3 February 2014) with the start of their Bright Sparks fashion show. Day 1 of the Bright Sparks show featured collections from designers Seshadari, Ishara, Udaya and Shayani.
 
These designers were spotted by Founder President – CFW, Ajai Vir Singh during the fashion open days held at various fashion institutes last year. 
 
 
Collection by Sheshandri
 
 
 
Sheshandri is a graduate from the Academy of Design. Inspired by Moroccan tiles, her collection features wearable separates with prints. Designing under her own label Surei, Seshadari also incorporates Sri Lankan crafts in her design
 
 
 
 
 
 

Collection by Ishara 

 

Ishara is a final year student of the Academy of Design. Designing under her label ODD, her collection featured up-cycled denim. Using discarded thread from garment factories, Ishara's collection features traditional Beeralu craftwork to which she has added a funky twist.

 

 


Collection by Udaya 

 
 
 
 
 
Udaya is a graduate from the University of Moratuwa who featured Menswear as his collection. Inspired by natural textures, forms and colours of nature his collection contained hand knitted garments. Working closely with a rural community engaged in hand knitting, Udaya seeks to build on his relationship between the community and his love for knitwear.
 
 
 
 
 
 

Collection by Shayani 
 
 
 
 
 

Shayani is a graduate from the Academy of Design. Inspired by the 1920's her collection featured simple yet classic silhouettes. Shayani has a great eye for using prints and her store Shay International is testament to her great flair for creating great clothes.

 
 
 
 
The Bright Sparks Project initiated by CFW is designed to identify potential in local campuses.
