The Style Files : The Best Dressed List - October 2015
Every month I do a roundup of events that played host to some of the most sartorially savvy, polished, eclectic, and stylish of dressers. In October these people impressed with their style, their poise, their ability to pull a unique look together and were the most soigne of the soigne for the month.
Illy Coffee Launch
Heidy
Black and white colour blocking always looks great and I love how Heidi is rocking her Valentino rockstuds proving that embellishments can make an outfit!
Catherine
Catherine is on fire lately and this is just the latest in her sartorial successes. Her outfit fits her body like a glove, and the neckline draws attention toward her toned arms and glowing complexion. This embodies everything that simplicity does so well. It's minimal yet striking and really allows the wearer to shine. On the hanger, this outfit might not look like much, but on Catherine it takes on a whole new life.
Sandun
He is synonymous with modern and innovative style in Colombo. His personal style stands out in a crowd but is also timeless. Sandun is always immaculately dressed in contemporary-classic tailoring and his signature glasses and hat.
Lancôme launch
Michelle
This look is complete magic from Michelle's dress that gives a direct nod to the ‘star’ trend that fashionistas around the world are embracing. I love the fuchsia lip that complements the blue with white stars. This whole look feels refreshing.
Suzanne
Had she worn this look in black, it would not have been nearly as interesting, this bright hue really pops against her skin. And I applaud her choice to go for nude heels -- this ensemble doesn’t need statement footwear.
Miss World Sri Lanka
She may have found the perfect dress for her frame. The proportions are amazing (fitted up top, soft draping down below), the color is great against her complexion and it looks like the dress has been fitted to her body perfectly. Not to mention her LV clutch and tousled waves complete the look.
This ensemble is uncomplicated: The cut of the dress is simple, the color scheme is monochromatic and her accessories accentuate her look without drawing attention away from it.
Malsha
There is a reason that black dresses are so popular and Malsha shows us why. Not only is this dress slimming, but it also showcases her curves well. The one sleeve aesthetic adds visual interest as does her metallic Bottega knot clutch.
CFW Resort
Anitra
Everything about this look screams perfection and this outfit proves how powerful a simple tank top and printed skirt can be (it doesn’t hurt that the skirt is Dolce & Gabbana). I love how Anitra's platinum hair gives a bit of edge to an otherwise feminine look.
Dirk
Dirk is always immaculately put together his sense of style empowers him and it's very inspiring, we’d expect nothing less from a founder of Colombo Fashion Week.
Antoinette
This is a fabulous white look. The draped element and side-slit on her dress work so nicely because her frock is otherwise demure. We also love her sleek slicked back do which is drawing attention towards her face and barely there make-up.
Rajini
This look is white hot, her simple dress paired perfectly with flat sandals and beachy waves -- simple accents that didn't deflect attention from a floor length gown that was as stunning as it was figure-flattering. Her look was finished off perfectly with bold red lipstick.
Rebecca
Rebecca demonstrates the power of the jumpsuit. Not only is this figure-flattering but the knotted neck with her red lipstick are adding just the right amount of visual interest.
Patrick
The old-school but modern way he dresses is very interesting. He always looks sleek, but still maintains that 'just thrown on' feel that is cool without being contrived.
