Ashanthi de Alwis won best Pop Act at the Bite My Music Global Awards 2012, bringing international recognition to Sri Lanka once again.
“Just so absolutely estatic over this win! It is the first time I have won a global gold award competing with so many countries across the globe! Firstly I would like to thank my parents for blessing me with this talent and encouraging me to make music, my studio engineer Shenal Maddumage and all the people behind me who continue to support my every musical endeavour.

Ashanthi also recently bagged a ton of awards at Indiego Music Awards Asia 2012 - Most Creative & Innovative award for music, Best Overall Female Vocalist (GOLD), Best Pop Act of Asia (Silver) &The Best Hip-hop/Rap solo award (Silver) competing with over 5 countries in Asia to bring home the gold.
Moving into the International arena now and competing with over 50 countries and big global acts at the Bite My Music Global Awards 2012, she has indeed made Sri Lanka proud by bringing back the gold a second time around.
Ashanthi was nominated for two major global awards at the Bite My Music Global Awards 2012 - BEST POP ACT & BEST HIP HOP ACT.
