Over the past few years Arantha Sirimanne has set up a benchmark in photography. His styles are unique. He has been in the photography business for a long time but in 2010 he rose to fame. His unique combination of lighting, shooting and post editing has made him stand out from the rest. Arantha has been fortunate enough to work with many professionals in the industry such as fashion models, fashion designers, chorographers. He has also partnered with local and international fashion publications. I caught up with him for a chat.
Do you apply fashion into wedding photography?
Yes I do. I accept that I do. I don’t target any set of clients. The customers who come to me like my style of photography. And they want to look glamorous. That is why they choose me.
What's your winning formula?
I am always flexible. I listen to the client very well.
You are into fitness. Is it that a need or passion?
Keeping fit is keeping healthy. Also it gives me added strength to do my duties with ease. I also want to look good, that way I feel good too.
Do you feel you can perform better abroad?
Yes, as a fashion photographer I can gain lots of fame and opportunities.
Your secret when handling difficult customers?
You need patience and need to understand them. They are uneasy on some issue, so you need to listen to them first.
Are you number one?
I always think I'm number one but I find faults on my own and evaluate myself. That's key to perfection.
You are into lots of research. Why?
I have a discipline where I spend one hour everyday no matter what work I have. This is to research on Youtube and other areas of the internet. I look into new techniques, new lighting techniques and equipment. Most of my investment is not in camera gear, it is in lighting. I have understood the importance of it.
