Entertrainers, a leading fitness solution studio in the country has come up with an innovative idea to pump you up on April 28 by organizing a one of a kind event filled with fun and excitement.

‘We did it Amazing Colombo City Romp’ which is to take place next Saturday, hopes to create a fun filled day with part treasure hunt, part family day out and part puzzle.

To find out more, I met up with Graham Brownlie, the organizer behind the ‘We did it Amazing Colombo City Romp’.

Brownlie explained that the whole idea stemmed from the fitness solution studio started by his wife Eli Usma Brownlie and her sisters, Laura, Clara who are internationally recognized Fitness Professionals and Group Fitness Instructors.

“The whole idea of organizing ‘We Did It Amazing Colombo City Romp’ came about when we received a lot of requests from people attending the fitness classes to organize an event with team building challenges and quizzes, something people could do for fun.

The initial concept was something similar to that of Amazing Race shown on television. So we decided to put our own twist to it and came up with the idea of ‘We did it Amazing Colombo City Romp’,” Brownlie added.

To put it simply, teams of 2 to 5 people will be given a map and clues to identify a location and then complete a set of challenges or answer quizzes related to Colombo, history and culture and the team to receive the most number of points during the course of the event will win the race.

Explaining further he said that the event will include two categories, namely the challenges and quizzes known as ‘Know UR Colombo’ and participants can choose whether they want to take up a challenge or answer a quiz.

Brownlie added that there are fifteen challenges in total which will include tuk tuk races, attempts at being a budding Robin Hood and challenges dealing with gemology and nattamis. Apart from the main challenges there are several other events for kids such as blind chocolate tasting competitions, face painting and bouncing castles.

The competition will be mainly based in Cinnamon Gardens, Town Hall, Galle Face, Pettah and Fort.

To make things easier, they have also organized three double deckers and tuk tuks which will travel along these areas so that participants can hop in and get to their respective locations without much hassle. Participants also have the choice of hiring their own tuk tuks or travelling to the destination any way they prefer.

“Our main goal is to make sure that people have fun on this day. So if any of the teams don’t want to complete the race they have the choice of stopping it when they choose to. We also want to promote local places through ‘We Did It Amazing Colombo City Romp’ as there are many who are not familiar with places in certain parts of the city.

Most of all we just want to make this is a fun filled day where people can explore, try out something new and just enjoy it with their family and friends,” he said.

Winners of ‘We Did It Amazing Colombo City Romp’ will be given weekend vouchers at three of the most luxurious hotels in the country - Palagama Beach Hotel, Jims Farms Villas and Jungle Beach Hotel Trincomalee. In addition several dinner vouchers will also be given out.

The first thirty teams to register into the competition will receive free We Did IT Amazing Colombo City Romp T-Shirts and every team will also receive a free goodie bag which include samples from the sponsors and discounts to restaurants and diners.

‘We Did It Amazing Colombo City Romp’ is open to all ages including kids.
