This week on Fashionably, Danu, I take up something which is not clothes. Now, looking good also come with the right accessories which you put on, and internationally shades and frames are playing a BIG part in fashion! 

So, we took a look at some trends you can follow. Round eyewear is back in fashion, and in terms of colours, dark tones dominate the season. The top trendy colours for eywear are are black, brown, clear and red frames which are very popular! 

This week's feature will give you all brands the way just the way you like it. Wickramarachchi Opticians has been the leader when it comes to some fine brands, and today we pick from brands such as Roberto Cavalli, BOSS and the all time favourite - Ray Ban! 

Talking to Wickramarachchi Opticians and Hearing Aids Chairman Mihira Wickramarachchi, this is what he had to say: 

​What sparked your interest in fashionable eyewear? 

Eyewear plays a big part in an individual’s image. This powerful impact drew me to fashionable eyewear industry. 

​What is the inspiration when you pick your collection? 

People inspire me. Everyone has their unique personal style and finding a collection that is suitable to everyone is a challenge I take on every time I pick a new collection. 

​What do you feel about the eyewear market in Sri Lanka? 

The Sri Lankan market is small and conservative. It needs to progress a lot further but we are heading in the right direction. 

​Do you feel your customers like to take risks in choosing eyewear? 

We do have some customers looking to take on new trends with no hesitation which is encouraging to see but it is a small percentage of the market. We still see most people being very conservative in their choices. Eyewear is an area where you shouldn’t be afraid to be daring. It can really elevate your look. 

​What is it that you featured in this shoot? 

This shoot’s focus was on new luxury trends. 

What look is in fashion now? And what brand is making big waves? 

Eyewear has come a long way from being just glasses we use to see better. They’re now fashion, they’re polished, they’re cool, funky and come in so many designs. The oversized sunglasses are here to stay. Double-rimmed aviators in a range of colours are still in. The retro designs are still going strong. Thick plastic rims are in, with a wider variety of shapes. For women a huge variety of cat-eye inspired eyewear with even bolder colours are trending. 

​What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your optic company? 

Don’t be afraid to challenge the market. Always strive to do something unique and different. 

What's new for 2017? 

In 2017 we will see many of the style we have seen during fall/winter of 2016. Other trends to watch for in 2017 include marble frames, ombre lenses, clear/white glasses and double wire rimmed sunglasses. 

What should one look out for in choosing a pair of spectacles? 

Always consider your face shape first and then your lifestyle and current trends to find the perfect pair for you. 

What advice would you say is the latest trend in shades? 

Thick, plastic, oversized retro shaped shades are the biggest trend to follow!

How important is fashionable eyewear, in one's wardrobe? 

Fashionable eyewear is very essential for a dressy man. It symbolizes ones character as well. Different types of eyewear can be worn for different occasions. 

What did you think about the collection which was featured? 

The featured collection was mostly oval framed eyewear which is very much in fashion in Europe. 

What would you say is your favourite brand? 

I like Armani eyewear. 

How was it to focus on eyewear and not on fashion for this week? 

Well, it was a bit of a challenging shoot as i had to give more emphasis on the eyewear. So we had to choose subtle coloured garments for Danu. Most of the shots were shot up close to bring out the details of the eyewear.
