The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways (MBFR) is ready to rock the ramp this November! Set to take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of November at SLECC, this international fashion runway is presented by AOD in partnership with DIMO/Mercedes-Benz, making up the tail-end of the global Spring/Summer fashion calendar with collections centred on travel fashion. 

Adopting the concept of ‘Travel Fashion’, MBFR aims to identify Sri Lanka as the first Travel Fashion Destination across the world.  And just how are they going to accomplish this? Well, Life Online has got you covered!

Tropical Getaway 

‘Tropical Getaway’ is one of the key looks that will take to the catwalks of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways this November. Tropical islands such as Sri Lanka offer the perfect setting for a relaxing getaway from work and stress with our beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets. 

So how can you style yourself for your tropical getaway? Well the trick is to pack light, smart and classy! 

Sundresses: What’s a tropical getaway without a handful of sundresses? They are light, comfortable and make you look gorgeous with very little effort. 

Kaftans: A tropical getaway is bound to get hot and sweaty so a packing essential are a few cotton kaftans. Go for a few embroidered kaftans so that it can be even worn with shorts when you are out and about! 

Shorts and Skirts: Liven it up with a few bright coloured shorts or skirts, maybe match a pair of printed shorts or skirt with a solid coloured cotton top for a casual look or vice versa! 

Tropical Prints: Make use of the tropical print trend! Whether it’s a pair of shorts, a dress or a two piece, tropical prints come off looking chic and stylish! 

Light and Comfy Footwear: You don’t need heels to dress chic! Pack smart with just a simple pair of sandals, flip flops and running shoes that can be worn for a little exploring. To let your sandals go with multiple outfits, try to go for neutral colours such as a nude that may work with both dark and light colours. 

Tote Bag, Floppy Hat and a Great Pair of Sunglassess: A tote and a small clutch is all you need in the tropics! And a fashionable floppy hat that can easily be folded into your suitcase along with a classy pair of shades will help you beat the sun.
