The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways (MBFR) is ready to rock the ramp this November! Set to take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of November at SLECC, this international fashion runway is presented by AOD in partnership with DIMO/Mercedes-Benz, making up the tail-end of the global Spring/Summer fashion calendar with collections centered on travel fashion. 

Adopting the concept of ‘Travel Fashion’, MBFR aims to identify Sri Lanka as the first Travel Fashion Destination across the world.  And just how are they going to accomplish this? Well, Life Online has got you covered! 

Over the weeks leading up to MBFR, we will take a closer look at what Travel Fashion is and explore some key trends that you can look forward to seeing on the ramp this November!

Travel By Night 

Got a cocktail party or a dinner cruise? Or even just  a girls night out? Get ready to seize the night with our style tips! 

Dresses: If you are out for the night, then there’s nothing better than a dress. From formal events like a dinner party or cocktails to a low-key dinner at your favourite restaurant, a dress will always be the appropriate dress code be it a gorgeous worked cocktail dress or a simple mid knee skater dress! 

Wraps: If your night event involves you being out and about, a wrap would be a great compliment to your outfit for when you want protection against the wind and the evening chill. 

Footwear: If you are out for a fancy dinner party or even a cocktail, a gorgeous pair of heels is always a good bet. If you are wearing a dressy outfit, go for a simple pair of heels but if you are wearing something black, let your shoes speak for you by pairing it up with a stunning pair of statement heels. 

Consider the Colours: Colours like blue, olive, crimson red, cream and black are some of the best colours to wear in the night considering the lighting. 

Accessories: Unlike the day look where you are required to go with more toned down accessories, the night is your cue to dress it up. Wear your best choker and your favourite statement ring and let your outfit come alive. 

Clutch: Even though the general purpose of a clutch is to hold your essentials, it also adds a sense of sophistication to your outfit. The right clutch in the right size to the right body type is the cherry on the top for your night look! Clutch with studs, casual textile, and eccentric details usually work for casual settings while ones with intricate design, elegant embroidery, and silk fabrics go well with party outfits. 

MBFR 2016 will take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of November at the SLECC.
