The Best Dressed List - September 2016
Every month I have the fabulous task of compiling a best dressed list, I sort through hundreds of photos from the past month to find the best of the best. I do a roundup of events that played host to some of the most sartorially savvy, polished, eclectic, and stylish of dressers.
In September, these people impressed with their style, their poise, their ability to pull a unique look together and were the most soigne of the soigne for the month. These style mavens know how to turn heads. Lace seemed to be a very popular choice for this month, as did a myriad of shades of blue. There was no shortage of fashion hits last month and I look forward to seeing how our city’s sartorially savvy bring more stylish looks in October!
Lasanna Flora
Now, this is a party dress! The length and bold print, that reminds me of the Dolce and Gabanna blue mosaic tile print, look like she's ready to get down on the dance floor. We salute anyone who has the confidence to pull off this dress it’s bold, fun and she’s unafraid to take a fashion risk. The colour, the cut-out and the embellishments don't look overdone because they are so strategic and her gorgeous strappy sandals it help carry the off-beat look with confidence.

Tashi
This shade of blue looks so rich it really works to highlight her complexion and make her standout amidst a sea of other dresses. Tashis’ minimal accessories make just the right statement. She looks elegant and gorgeous, look and learn ladies, this is how you dress for cocktails!
From L - R: Tashi, Kimarli and Suren
Kimarli
Head-to-toe black can make for an eye-catching outfit, provided you go for pieces with interesting details like Kimarli. The lace panelling the ruffles and high neck make her look fashion-forward and it all works beautifully. The intricate detailing and long length elevate the look and make it very sophisticated. She really looks like the Belle of the ball.
Suren
Suren has great style. He keeps it simple, with an accent of ingenuity. He embraces a new smart-casual, has no-nonsense, eclectic attitude towards fashion that is self-assured and confident.
Flow Cocktails
Brazilian Ambassador Elizabeth Balsa
Season after season, lace features on catwalks from New York to Paris and I’m thrilled to see ladies on the Best dressed list embrace its beauty. What I love about this outfit is and why I think this simple dress is so successful is because of the perfect fit and the interesting pop of pink that adds a hip visual element. Sometimes it’s important not to overcomplicate things but to add a touch of cool to elevate your look.
Chai and Chic
A perfectly tailored jumpsuit, especially with lace detailing and a low neckline like this one, never fails. She looks great. Think of the jumpsuit as an equivalent to a little black dress. If it's your first time in jumpsuit territory, start simple. A plain style is a super-safe bet and only needs minimal accessorising, hair, and make-up. The fact that you're wearing a jumpsuit at all is statement enough.
The cut-out detail on the shoulder, the batik design, the ruffled accent and colours work to gether to make this a standout look. I love that she’s kept her hair soft with beachy waves and make up minimal, it’s avry interesting and island appropriate look. Kudos!
Nara Thai Sri Lanka
The neutral colours are so sleek and we love that she added a warm lip colour to soften the look. Playing around with nude tones can get tricky, but here she chose the perfect shade. It doesn’t blend into her skin too much, but it is still seamless enough to create long lines, making her look absolutely chic as do her leg lengthening pumps.
Sirisopa on far right
Sleek and sexy is the name of the game with this black dress. A black dress is classic, and this one has a few interesting details that put it over the top. This simple dress is so striking because of it’s plunging neckline and perfect fit. I like that she’s paired this sleek silhouette with cutout heels and a snakeskin clutch.
Sirisopa
While this dress could skew little-girl, the hemline, fabulous colour ensure that she looks 100 percent woman. It is both fun and sophisticated and I love the floral embelishment on the neck, paired with slicked back hair, this look is spot on!
Mrs. World Sri Lanka
Yashoda
This is a well-balanced look if we ever saw one. The off the shoulder jacket, which adds drama and weight to the outfit, is perfectly complemented by the pleats of her sari. The ombre shading is pretty and overall this is a great look.
Narada
This nude Herve Leger dress is so stunning and simple. The gold cuff and headwear add visual interest, while the long length makes the leggy model look even taller. The texture and the sweetheart neckline creates beautiful lines in the look.
