The Style Files : How to Wear Your Hair!

Summer is the perfect time for transformation. I'll spare you the caterpillar-to-butterfly analogy, although there is something to be said for casting off your old look (or ‘do’) and trying something new as the season changes. Given Colombo’s lack of real seasons, there’s no better time to get a head start than now!

Let's talk about the top two cuts that celebs seem to be sporting.

Bangs are incredibly popular, which is probably in part because they come in all lengths and styles, making them easy to wear. (Think: every version imaginable, from mini bangs to cheekbone-grazing fringe to wavy face-framers.)

Short, choppy cuts (both shag and bob versions) are also en vogue, but ensure you speak to your hairdresser and come out with something modern that works for your hair texture.

The top hair trends that seem to be cropping up (no pun intended) and that are worth trying are:

Sleek Bun

Designers such as Givenchy have been showcasing ballerina style sleek buns with their SS16 collections.  Play around with the position of the bun to add a different feel to your overall look! Twist your hair into a texturized, low bun for the perfect rushed up-do. Simple, yet sophisticated: it takes no time at all, once you perfect the routine.

Long Fringes

Sweeping fringes are a great way to change your style. Perfect for ladies with long hair who are not keen on losing length but still want a change. Super easy to manage and grow out again. By getting a fringe cut in, you are trying something new and experimenting without drastic change. Plus, it’s all the rage right now!

The Minimalist Bob

Ditch those layers and feathering that we’ve all come to love over the past years and frame your face with a sleek, straight, elegant bob. It is sharp and angular – the perfect haircut for a woman who knows what she wants.

The High Pony

Sometimes, tossing your hair into a ponytail is the easiest thing to do, especially if it’s a bad hair day. But tying a ponytail can communicate, especially a low pony, if done right, is pure elegance. Pull your hair tight and create a sky high ponytail, highlighting your beautiful cheekbones and jawline. Put some volume into the end of the ponytail to create definition.
