The Style Files : Kanye’s Fashion Week Fail! 

New York Fashion Week ( NYFW) kicked off with Yezzy’s show and premiere of Mr. West’s new album “The Life of Pablo” (formerly “Waves,” formerly “Swish”). 

Kanye West's ambitions are arena-size, so he did the logical thing and booked an arena. The models wearing the new collection were elevated on two platforms above the hundreds of others in desert-toned clothes from older seasons. (Perhaps Kanye didn’t want his audience to see the clothes up close because frankly they were pretty awful!) 

The models -- minus the supermodels -- had to stand still for over an hour while West played his new album in its entirety and entertained the masses with his cringe- worthy shout outs to celebrities. But that's not all! They were given a list of 38 rules to which they had to adhere -- including no whispering, "no sexy posing," "do not act cool" and so much more. 

Above them were poised the Jenner / Kardashian klan, glittering in shiny outfits from the Balmain & Yeezy collaboration, and huge fur coats. Kendall and Caitlyn both turned up in the same “ torn rag” dress / top. 

The clothes are... not great. They’re not breaking any ground and they received less than stellar reviews from respected fashion critics. No one outright criticized Kanye, probably having learnt from past experience that criticizing Kanye is like setting off an nuclear bomb! West really should stick to what he’s fantastic at and that’s not fashion!
