Sri Lanka is all about living that tropical island life in style and summer and resort wear is undoubtably in high demand in our local market. In an island that is all about sea, sand and surf – we love our tropical wear and there are no two words about it.

The Thambili Island Boutique down Ward Place, Colombo 07 opened its doors last week as a beachy boutique gift store offering purely Sri Lankan apparel and accessories. The Boutique gets its name from the resort wear label ‘Thambili Island’ which began retailing early last year and which rapidly gained popularity for its flirty summer prints and breezy silhouettes. The label now retails at stores such as the Design Collective, Deep End, Tribe and Glory Unawatuna.

Designer and Co - owner of the Thambili Island Boutique, Dishnira Saparamadu is a firm believer of ethical fashion and her passion for sustainability and homegrown brands saw to the launch of the Thambili Island Boutique – a labour of love that has been in the works for over a year. “Ethical fashion and community empowerment has always been close to my heart and was a key factor even when I started my label, Thambili Island. Staying true to these values, at Thambili Island we work closely with a talented group of local artisans to bring all our pieces to life. I’ve always wanted to open my own Boutique but I knew I wanted to create not just a space for my label but for other local, ethical brands as well and we’re proud to say that we have carefully curated some amazing local brands here.”

The Thambili Island Boutique retails a range of local brands such as Culture by Ari for menswear, Destiny by Minoli, Ceyloha Swimwear, Cane Couture bags, Island Lush sandals & sliders, Skincare by Tathya, Accessories by Salvage, Coasters by Xylo & Stationary & other memorabilia by Sustainablee Yours and Source & Supply.

“We are thrilled to open the Thambili Island boutique and have in store locally and ethically made apparel. Culture by Ari brings to you the perfect Island shirt for any occasion! It’s a brand we’ve designed with comfort in mind and we really wanted to embody some fun and exciting prints in soft fabrics that’s ideal for island living.”
