Meet the designers of SWIM WEEK Colombo with Life Online - MAUS 

Partnering up with Swim Week Colombo, Life Online puts the spotlight on designer brand MAUS. 

The label MAUS was created in 2013 by Annika Fernando as a ladieswear brand designed and produced in Sri Lanka. Having presented collections each year, for this years’ Monsoon, MAUS is presenting its first swimwear collection ‘MAUS SWIM’. 

Since this is your first time designing a swimwear collection, how do you plan to approach swimwear designs? 

In exactly the same manner that I would use to approach any other MAUS collection. I’m moving away from the structured cut for the MAUS silhouette. MAUS SWIM focuses on bringing out the beauty of the feminine form with a MAUS interpretation of classic style in restrained colour palette. 

What’s the image this collection is looking to portray? 

Classic swimwear and clean design. 

Is your collection tailored more towards the foreign consumer or the Sri Lankan consumer? 

Well, why do I really need to choose? The Sri Lankan consumer is an international lady of style. 

What was the hardest part about starting a swimwear label? 

Coordinating the many elements and finding the right fabric. With Linea Aqua’s support, however, it made the whole process simpler than expected.
