For a lot of us, Instagram is a great way to get a peek into what’s in style these days. And that’s how I met Supriya; when I casually scrolled through Instagram and stumbled into her account ‘lookingthroughhercloset’.
When I contacted her and we spoke, she defined that while her outfits encompass many things, at the end of the day, her style can be narrowed down to be defined as ‘edgy but feminine’. “I think it’s a perfect mix of luxe pieces and bargain buys” she says.
This week, Supriya gives us an opportunity to look through her closet to peek at some of her all-time favourites;
LOOK 1
This is one of my favourite looks. I love wearing clothes from the same colour palette all at once. Here, I have paired up different shades of khaki. This outfit would be perfect for a night out with the girls.
LOOK 2
I am a sucker for anything off the shoulder. This 'Casper and Pearl" dress is one of my favourites. Easily paired with tanned sandals or tie up flats. Definitely a super cute option for a summer date.
LOOK 3
Is there anything more perfect than an all-white outfit? I love capes and you will see alot of them in my closet. I think the all-white outfit with the Saint Laurent bag adds an element of luxe. Great outfit for a dinner date.
LOOK 4
Remember my obsession with khaki and being matchy matchy? I also have a huge thing for leather. This is a go- to outfit for me, trench coat, leather mini and knee high boots. Comfort and luxe! Definitely an ideal outfit for an autumn/winters day.
LOOK 5
Neutral outfits. I love the little crop top and faux leather skirt combo. And if you haven’t guessed my thing for trenches already... Add a trench for a more casual look or if you are trying to hide all the Nutella donuts you've been eating lately.
Style Role Model: I don’t have one specific style role model. I gain so much style inspiration from so many different places such as Instagram, style bloggers and fashion icons like Christine Centenera, Kate Lanphear and Bianca Jagger, random people I see on the street, beautiful fabrics... the list goes on.
Favourite Colours To Pair: Khaki, Camel, Black, and White. I could probably wear clothes from these colour palettes my whole life and never get bored.
Go To Outfit: Lightweight trench (who saw this coming?), basic tee, leather skirt, knee high boots or espadrilles.
Style Must Have’s? I definitely believe in quality over quantity - so having great pieces that work well with each other is a must have. I think every girl must invest in;
- Black tailored jacket
- Basic white tee
- Statement bag
- Trenchcoat
- A perfect red lippy (mine is Ruby Woo by MAC)
Make Up Tip: Forever using cream blush as blush and lippy.
Style NO’s: Don’t feel obligated to wear what’s considered to be on trend if you don’t feel comfortable in it.
Style Hack: Raid your other half's closet – it’s a treasure trove. Oversized man tees and shirts (buttoned down and sleeves rolled up of course) look great with a leather skirt and heels.
