The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways (MBFR) is ready to rock the ramp this November! Set to take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of November at SLECC, this international fashion runway is presented by AOD in partnership with DIMO/Mercedes-Benz, making up the tail-end of the global Spring/Summer fashion calendar with collections centred on travel fashion.

Adopting the concept of ‘Travel Fashion’, MBFR aims to identify Sri Lanka as the first Travel Fashion Destination across the world. And just how are they going to accomplish this? Well, Life Online has got you covered!

Over the weeks leading up to MBFR, we will take a closer look at what Travel Fashion is and explore some key trends that you can look forward to seeing on the ramp this November!

Style On The Road

‘Style on the Road’ is one of the key looks that will take to the catwalks of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways this November. We don’t just travel for leisure anymore, we also travel for health, healing and for work.

So how can you style yourself for the road? Well getting practical and preparing for the many scenarios is the key to acing this look but here are a few tips and must haves!

Comfortable Shoes: Because you are most likely going to be in the car for a long while, the best option is to slip into a pair of flip flops or a comfortable pair of ballet flats that are convenient to slip on and slip off.

Leggings: Leggings go a long way in making you comfortable when you have a long drive ahead. Because it’s a lot more flexible than jeans, you can easily stretch, bend and manoeuvre yourself into a comfortable position while travelling. They are also quite slimming so you look stylish at the same time!

Dresses: They provide an easy, comfortable and breezy driving experience and can always be accessorized up if you feel like dining at some fancy place on the way! Make a note to wear a dress with fabric that won’t wrinkle easily.

Layers: If you know your travels will have you returning back later in the night, layers in your outfit might be what you need to deal with the changing temperatures. For instance, if you wear a button down shirt over your skinny, you have the option of removing it if it gets too hot and buttoning it up if it gets too cold!

A Large Handbag: A large tote bag would be the perfect travel companion! You can carry all your essentials in it; phone charger, make up, tissues, pen and paper, wallet, sunglasses, mini snacks and a small first aid kit.

Sunglasses and a Sunhat: Living in Sri Lanka, you definitely need protection from the heat and the scorching sun. Grab a pair of shades and a sunhat to take with you on your road trip and don’t forget your sunscreen!
