views 1317A firm believer of dressing to your own body and comfort, Sandi’s wardrobe is tailor made to her sense of style and liking.
“I love to mix and match with big prints, block colours and high-waisted everything!” she says.
This week on Street Style, we take a look as to how she would style according to the occasion!
LOOK 1: FORMAL
This first dress was one I bought in the biggest rush at a discount store, for a ball. IT HELPED ME UNDERSTAND THAT EXPENSIVE IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER! I love the way this dress hugs my curves, and the thigh split was perfect for my strappy nude heels which I got from NOVO. I styled this with drop-down earring (which I found at a local market in Colombo) for the perfect mix between simplicity and chic.
LOOK 2: CASUAL
This second outfit was actually put together on the spot from a car boot on a photoshoot. The theme was casual and I knew I just wanted to wear my white jeans, so I chose to go with a grey loose-fit crop paired with a statement necklace.

LOOK 3: NIGHT OUT
This outfit is probably my favourite of all time! Dusty pink is my favourite colour and paired with dark skin I think it just looks amazing. I really wanted to keep this look simple which is very true to my style, so I went with rose gold hoops, a simple bracelet and see-through stilettos from Basement HQ.
LOOK 4: BRUNCH
This outfit was one I chose to go out for a brunch on a cold winter day in Melbourne city. I LOVE how the thigh-high boots add a level of sophistication, whilst giving a certain edge to the look. I didn’t want to carry any large purses around so I paired this outfit with minimal jewellery and my phone-wallet.
LOOK 5: DAY LOOK
This last outfit was one I would typically wear in the fall in very unpredictable Melbourne weather. I teamed a basic black bodycon dress with my plaid sweater which doubled up a jumper when the temperature started to drop. I finished off this look with my favourite superstars which are perfect for comfort and sunnies.
Style Role Model: I don’t think I have a style role model. I typically gravitate to my own style of dressing and adopt current trends which appeal to me. For example, I fell in love with the return of the culottes but never really adopted it into my style routine. If I HAD to name a style role model I would have to say Rihanna. She has always been a role model for me- just the right amount of sass and class.
Favourite Colours to Pair: My favourite colours are darker nudes, chocolate browns, mustards and khaki. I think these colours really complement my dark complexion and are just the right amount of colour intensity to be appropriate for every occasion.
Go To Outfit: My go to outfit would be a pair of JONI jeans from TOPSHOP (literally have every single colour), with a basic block tee or sweater, without forgetting my superstars or Converse.
Style Must Have’s?
My style must haves are nails, makeup and hair, I believe these three elements can make or break an outfit no matter how stand-out it is.
Make-up Tips?
My number one makeup tip would be to do what suits your own face type. It is really easy to give into the Instagram makeup look (strong highlight that reaches the moon, winged eyeliner, faded brows and a liquid lip), but, knowing what suits your face is important. For me having a small face with smaller features I tend to opt for a fresher look, focusing on mascara, brows and a dewy complexion.
Style No’s: NEVER OVERDRESS OR UNDERDRESS. I believe that the way you portray yourself speaks volumes to your character, therefore dressing appropriately would always save you from leaving a bad impression.
Style Tip: Asymmetrical skirts, shorts and duster coats can be your best friend, when you want to leave a little more to the imagination, for a more classier look.
