Sri Lankan born Rashmika Gunathilaka is an architecture student living in the UK with a brilliant eye for fashion. His style is an effortless blend of everyday basics put together to present a comfy but eye catching ensemble.

“My signature style would revolve around everything comfy!” he says, “I believe in looking good while feeling good too. I mean how you can be yourself or even feel good if you can’t even move in the clothes you wear!”

With a minimalistic colour palate that we absolutely love, we explore Rashmika’s street style as he takes us through his favourite looks!

LOOK 1

This washed brown oversized sleeve top is perfect for a quick morning throw on. Match it up with a skinny black bicker jeans and sawed shoes for a classy and comfy look.  Whether you’re going to grab a coffee or you are heading off to explore the city, you will always look trendy and street ready.

LOOK 2

This is a small change but it speaks volumes! This long line overcoat matches perfectly with any darker colour tone. Whether you throw it on over t-shirts, jumpers or cardigans it’s a must have for an overcoat that will keep you warm and looking stylish. It’s always a nightmare when it comes  deciding whether your coat is too dressed up or not but this is light, stylish and will fit your street style perfectly.

LOOK 3

This is ‘street’ as street style gets! This is one of my go - to styles for most occasions; traveling, commuting and even a night out. You simply cannot go wrong with black and white. This leather jacket is just a final touch in making your outfit stand out and getting all the attention is to contrast it with strong coloured shoes and that’s it – your outfit is good to go.

LOOK 4

Classy street style? Is that a thing? I think so! Looking classy and dapper with a hint of casual is just the perfect outfit for a gallery visit or a casual meeting. It's trendy and it gives you a lot of attention too. The blazer is a darker shade of blue that’s put over a plain white t-shirt, making the blazer standout even more and looks great with denim jeans and a darker pair of boots.

Style Role Model

Some of my style role models are Alexander Gilkes, Calvin Harris and Olly Alexander. These men are bold when it comes to style and has a perfect mix of classic gentlemen and street style. One of my favourites are Olly Alexander, who has inspired me by showing no fear with experimenting, mixing and matching various prints and colour.

Favourite Colours to Pair

Honestly everyone’s tastes are different but I believe that more the saturated the colour is, the calmer your seem. Nude colours and pale washed out colours are the best to pair with each other and you can make these pop with a solid darker colour on top to really bring out your style layering.

Go To Outfit: I would say my go to outfit is a simple t-shirt and jeans paired together with a nice jacket or an overcoat. Your simply cannot go wrong with  white and black and it's perfect as a quick go-to outfit.

Style Must Have’s?

  • I recommend a simple snapback hat! Most of the time I’m on the go and I just don’t have the time to spend hours fixing my hair so a clean black snapback is bound to work well with any street outfit.
  • A good leather jacket is also a must have as you can add it on with most outfits and look great day or night.

Style NO’s

  • Personally I don’t go with bold colours, I find it too distracting from the self-image and I think saturated tones are the best.
  • Also, don’t layer too much! It can get very warm and look way out of style if you layer too much so keep it simple and fashionable.

Style Hack: There’s plenty to be discovered and experimented but here are a few of my favourites!

  • If you found the perfect jeans that fit you but it seems longer on your ankles, apply a pin fold and your jeans will fit your legs perfectly.
  • If your styling a white shirt, then don’t wear a white vest underneath! I’ve seen guys do this all the time and it’s so obvious, wear a grey vest instead and a white shirt. The colours will offset each other and you won’t be able to see any see through trace of your vest!
