The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Runways (MBFR) is ready to rock the ramp this November! Set to take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of November at SLECC, this international fashion runway is presented by AOD in partnership with DIMO/Mercedes-Benz, making up the tail-end of the global Spring/Summer fashion calendar with collections centred on travel fashion.

Adopting the concept of ‘Travel Fashion’, MBFR aims to identify Sri Lanka as the first Travel Fashion Destination across the world.  And just how are they going to accomplish this? Well, Life Online has got you covered!

Over the weeks leading up to MBFR, we will take a closer look at what Travel Fashion is and explore some key trends that you can look forward to seeing on the ramp this November!

Our last feature was a guide on how to dress for a fun night out. Today, a guide on how to dress professionally.

Professional Travel

From take-off to arrival, it’s crucial to look the business when you are travelling for professional purposes.  Here’s what you need in your suitcase to be ready for that meeting with the CEO, the deluxe hotel lobbying session and that after-dinner strategic discussions!

Tops: Even though crisp white shirts sound flexible on your business trip, it won’t be very flexible if you get a smidge of dirt on it or spill something on it. Go for colours where even if you do get dirt on it, it won’t be very visible like blue, black or red. And if your pants and skirts are all solid colours, take a few printed shirts to add a touch of variety.

Pants: A black well fitted pair of pants is essential but along with that pack pants from different textures, material and style ranging from loose pants to a high waist or a skinny fit.

Pencil Skirts: Pencil skirts are always figure flattering and professional. Whether it’s in a solid colour or a patterned or printed style, pair it up with a complimenting top and you have a versatile look. Make sure the skirt is only a few inches above the knee and not more to achieve a more professional outlook.

Dresses: Bring along dresses with colours that better suit for the day like a light blue or beige. But also make sure to pack a little black dress that you can wear for that business meeting at 10am and also for cocktails and dinner at 10pm.

Blazer: A stylish blazer is a worthy investment. A blazer with a clean cut and good fit worn with a dress or your shirt and pants will take your business look up a notch!

Work Pumps: Get practical with your shoes.  You might be on your feet for long hours so think practical but also think stylish! Go for a gorgeous pair of black or nude pumps with a 3 inch heel rather than a 6 inch heel.

Minimal Accessories: In a professional environment the last thing you want to wear is a statement necklace or earrings. Choose very minimal accessories like pearl earrings or a small chain to go with your look.

MBFR 2016 will take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of November at the SLECC. The shows will be live streamed through the website www.mbsrilankafashionrunways.com and the Facebook page Mercedes Benz Fashion Runways Sri Lanka giving access to millions to watch the unveiling of contemporary season-less travel fashion from Sri Lanka.

Local and global customers will also be given the opportunity to shop the runways through the Mercedes Benz Fashion Runways website.
