How did you get into jewellery designing?
I have been living in Indonesia for the past 20 years. I design all my jewellery and often only one of each. Repeat pieces are created but usually with a subtle difference. I got into jewellery making as I realised I had an eye for mixing and matching colours. I used to buy jewellery and break them up and remake them to get the style I wanted. People always admired them in their redesigned state than the original state. This prompted me to make jewellery for my friends. In a nutshell that is how it all started. I had also done flower arranging in Israel and that taught me to go along with natural colour combinations which is reflected in my jewellery creations.
What stones do you use?
I use all kinds of stones from different parts of the world. Fossil rocks, rough semi precious stones, natural jasper stones and entwined with copper, brass, wood and silver. My creations are modern with a vintage touch. I like the rough elegance. These could be worn with modern outfits as well as sarong, and saree.
How would you describe your jewellery?
My jewellery line is for the woman who is daring. For the woman who knows what style is and what suits her. I do unique creative jewellery that blends well with many personalities. In this new collection I have used south sea natural pearls , baroque and other pearls. They stand out as they are uniquely designed.
What are you inspired by?
I am inspired by nature. Stones tell a story. Their shape, colour and the grain. The person who wears the jewellery also creates an image of themselves in others' minds. That too is a story.
When did you first start your jewellery business?
I started to design my jewellery 8 years ago. I have held exhibitions in Sri Lanka as well as in Indonesia.
Where do you source the stones you use in your jewellery?
Stones are sourced from Asian countries as well as different islands of Indonesia.
What is your design process?
My designs are given to certain other designers to get copper wire jewellery done. This allows me to save time and to be more creative. Most of the jewellery is designed and done by me.
Where do you sell your products?
I am hoping to open a store in Sri Lanka soon but now my products can be purchased at my exhibition.
