Day 2 of the Mercedez Benz Fashion Runways Sri Lanka took place this evening at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre. Here are the designers who showcased their collections tonight! 


Hirdaramani & LICC present Airport Chic 

The collection featured soft neutral colours along with faded denim, patchworks and comfort. An assorted range that pairs of well with airport transits and arrivals, bringing on a crushed and crumpled effect. The pieces also maintained a balance of gender fluidity; wearable by both him and her. 


Orit presents On The Road 

Featuring denim; shredded, faded, lace, and lots of denim from the conventional jeans to eclectic jackets. The collection focused entirely on travel while on the road, and had a variety of dry & wet processes on the garments. Innovation screamed from each piece, from the fashionable dyes to wash finishes by R&D. 


Coats, Linea Aqua, Trischel, Jane Gottelier, and Wright & Teague present The Waterfront 

Featuring thick lace, bright summer colours and showcasing the strength of Coats Thread, the collection was inspiration from local beaches and locations. It was a fusion of hand crocheted yarn wit high tech apparel manufacture. 


MAS Fabrics present Street Nic 

Sheer prints, neon colours and warm prints. An urban yoga at leisure collection, with specialized material from Trischel, Textprint and Noyons with spontaneous chameleon like astuteness for efficient sophistication and adaptability.

MAS Intimates presents Evening City 

Sporty intimacy look is what evening city is about. Sensual lingerie styles mix with edgier, architectural details, underpinned with erotic exotic feel for a stronger sensual Street - City - Bedroom look. Lush Tropical Bright underpinned with lush darks of African Violet & Black. 


Rakshaa presents By The Waterfront 

The collection inspired with tropical surf, bringing together epoch seafaring and tropical style prints for both genders alike.

“It’s a beach collection and we used flowers and other elements to incorporate that idea” 

 


Danit Peleg presents Future Traveller 


Timex presents Tropical City 

Summer elaborates its luxurious elements in sheer “Elegance”. A collection made for the modernist celebrating the city at night, colours swoon in bright teal green, crimson, with vibrant prints hinting vermillion and lime. 

“Based on tropical city and it was very modern and we came up with the fresh intake for the collection” 

 


Star Garments, Lanka Leather and Union Apparel present Corporate Traveller 

Pieces manufactured for European brand Day Birger’s A/W 2016 collection incorporating handloom fabric. 


Vogue Tex presents Nostalgic Getaway 

White shirts, tussles, detailed lace and cuts, pleats, suede boots and splashes of navy blue were showcased. The collection encompassed contemporary and an epoch gaze, catering to a woman who appreciates a laidback urban lifestyle. 


Ekko presents Tropical Getaway 

Sandals and stenciled roses along with tropical inspired prints, bringing shorts, and shirts. 


Teejay Lanka PLC and Brandix present Tropical Street Style 

Sneakers, oversized hooded T-shirt dresses, dark neutral prints and a flash of yellow. The collection was based on craft meets technology, experimenting fabric with textured jersey along with batik artisan. The pieces follow free form of nature, allowing a look of sporty vibes, comfort to both men and women. 


Penguin, Coats and Opti Zips present Travel Sport 

Black and neon pink outlines. An active leisure collection for S/S 2017, influenced by urban street style, using laser cut, bonding techniques along with specialist thread and zips. 

“It’s based on sportswear and the idea came from concept cars. I looked at how concept cars are diverting into clothes and how paneling and layering can be done so there was a lot of laser cuts.” 

 


MAS Active presents Active Tropics 

The collection showcases the manufacturing strengths of MAS Active, while mirroring spring/summer 2017 global trends. The collection embodies sport detailing, trans-seasonal silhouettes, bold graphics with a touch of psychotropic prints which sees natural and manmade styles merge, as lush painterly botanicals take on a heightened, almost synthetic form for travel wear. 

 


MAS Active Linea Intimo presents Travel Sport 

A collection to cater to the needs of the chic traveller who dares to discover, zealous about travelling and easily adapting to climate changes. Multifunctional clothing at its best. 


Linea Aqua presents Active Tropics 

Swimwear along the lines of sophistication with tribal necklaces and exquisite prints. 


MRC and Ishara Jayathilake present Urban Tropics 

Embroidery being the main element inspired by tropical birds and flowers. The collection showcased linen and cotton to create cool and comfortable pieces.

“Inspired by the growing trend of sports and lingerie. Embroidery is also very much in trend so it’s a collection that can go from the street, the club to night to the bedroom.”
