‘Miss Working Girl’ title winner of 2014, Mandeera’s style is a juxtapose between smart and comfortable.
“Ideally, my signature outfit would be a knee length shift dress. I feel like it’s an outfit you can wear at any time of the day with the right shoes and the hairdo. And you can always just spice it up with a little bit of accessories,” she explains.
This week on Street Style, Mandeera takes us through her style picks for every occasion in life.
LOOK 1 : Club Wear
I’ve chosen a very simple outfit. Just ripped pants and a comfortable t shirt. I think being comfortable when you’re out having fun is very important and not something too flashy flashy.
LOOK 2 : Evening Wear
So it’s something long and comfortable. It’s actually my mom’s dress because she does batiks and I like bringing out colours. Red is my favourite so there’s a lot of red in this dress.
I’m a big fan of high heels as well and this outfit is paired with a shiny 6 inch black heel and because of all the workings in the dress and the shoes I finished it off with a simple pair of earrings.
LOOK 3 : Office Wear
I’m wearing a striped skirt with a coat and accessorised it with earrings and a ring. I just did a little bit of makeup; some mascara, eyeliner and a little splash of rep lipstick.
LOOK 4 : Sports Wear
It’s my basketball kit. I play for the Buffaloes Basketball Club. The kit is paired off with my Nike shoes and because it’s such a bother to have hair on your face I do my hairdo for a high ponytail or bun.
LOOK 5 : Smart Casual
This is something I would wear for a cocktail party or a high tea. It’s a simple elegant dress by my mother and it’s held together by a belt.
I’m wearing my 6 inch heels and I tied my hair to a side where I either plait it or let it loose. My makeup is to just highlight my eyes and my lips and as for accessories I have a little pearl stud and a ring.
Favourite Colours to Pair: My Favourite would be black and red. As red is my favourite colour and also because it’s the colour of love!
Go To Outfit: A pair of jeans and a top along with Converse sneakers and then ear studs and a simple chain.
Style Must Have’s?
- Levi’s Jeans : Low cut jeans and Bold curve jeans
- Bright coloured tank tops and T-shirts
- Sneakers, Sneakers, Sneakers!
- Rings and a watch
- Eyeliner and lip gloss or lipstick
Make Up Tip: If you ever look sleepy, just put some liner. It always does the trick!
Style No’s: Short dresses in public (on the road)
Style Tip: If you have a loose zipper, attach a small key ring to your zipper. Put your pants on, and zip up that lazy zipper, loop the ring around the button and then fasten the button which will then conceal the ring. Simple as that!
